《The Strongest Hero VS The Weakest World?》Chapter 13 - A Guard's Mission
Advertisement
- Guard's 1 POV -
That child... Yemon... He must be killed.
I have only worked at this mansion as a bodyguard for three years and slowly became someone that the Hero's could trust. Well, I say that, but I didn't get any special treatment. They just trusted me to some extent. Though, that was my goal from the very beginning.
I'm no ordinary shitty human; I am a demon under the guidance of his lordship, Demon Lord Pharaoh. He is an excellent lord who understands us, demons. He even gave me, a retired general of the past Demon Lord, his praise and understood my difficulties. I'm truly gracious to under his rule. That's why I'll complete my mission no matter what it takes.
Three years ago, before I became the Hero's guard, my lord gave me a mission.
"Go spy on the Hero of the Sword and the Hero of Healing. If anything important comes up, report to me immediately."
After that, I rushed to the human continent and attempted to get the Hero's to hire me. Now, if I were in my regular demon appearance, I would have been slain or killed on the spot. Therefore, I took over (possessed) a tough-looking human adventurer.
He was a 30-year-old man who was C rank. Although that doesn't sound high, C-ranks are quite skillful and can injure weakish demons. This meant that they wouldn't question my strength, and with that, I easily got hired.
Anyway, I stayed as a bodyguard for a little over two years. At this time, the heros' house was in an uproar. Why? Because the Hero of Healing got pregnant. A child of the two heroes... Why might they be? Just thinking about it now, they might be a problem in the future.
The first thing I did when I heard of it was reporting it to his lordship. When I did, he gave me a new order.
"You have done well thus far, but I have another mission I would like you to do. That child... Watch it. At any time you feel that the child might cause a huge problem in the future, especially power-wise, eliminate him even if it cost your life."
"Yes, my lord!"
I agreed on the spot. I was expecting something like this. I mean, a child conceived from two of the heroes. It's clearly visible that this child will be strong but will his strength cause a problem?
With that, I waited until he was born. I was lucky enough to be given a chance to guard the heroes as they went to the hospital. A little bit later than that, the heros' child was born.
Right when he came out of the womb, there was a problem immediately... His eyes...
Both of the colors of the child's eyes were different. That might not sound like anything, but in one of his eyes, I could sense mana flowing from it. I immediately knew what it was. [Eye of Mana]...
The Eye of Mana is a powerful thing. It allows the user to control their mana supply was easier than normal and allows the user to see mana coming off of other people. This meant that when the child grew and learn of the world, he might identify the real me. That wouldn't be good...
At that moment, I wanted to eliminate him, but I couldn't. Even If I risked my life, I would have failed. If I wanted to kill him, I would have to wait until I gained his trust and kill him when he left the house or something.

Still, doing that will only allow him to gain strength, but I didn't have any other options.
Therefore, I waited and studied his actions. Months have passed since then, and he is now 11 months old. At this point, I'm stressed. Why? Because we will see his status when he turns one year old to see where his future will take him. When I see it, then I'll make a plan to kill him...
Or that was the plan, but I noticed that the child, Yemon, was acting strange. I had a feeling in my gut to keep an eye on him, so that's what I did. I followed him around secretly, and that's when he entered his father's study.
Reo, his father, was in there at the time working on a stack of paperwork. Yemon crawled inside and knocked on his Reo's desk. Reo heard the knock but didn't stop working. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw his son but answered him somewhat coldly.
"Huh?! Oh, it's just you, Yemon. What do you want? Can't you see that I'm busy? Don't worry; I'll play with you after I'm finished."
Yemon looked down for a moment but then faced Reo and did something that a normal 11-month old couldn't do. He spoke coherently of that of a 5-year-old combined with a 20-year-old.
"Daddy... May I please be allowed to go outside for a while? I promise I'll be back before dark. I'll even bring back some food."
I stared at the baby for a good while. I mean, it has been unheard of for a child to speak at such an early age. Well, those at this age can say some words, mostly daddy or momma, but not full sentences. True, he did say daddy, but for some reason, I think he said that to get him to favor him and allow him to go.
At this time, Reo was looking at the child too, but I have a feeling that he didn't understand what happened or didn't bother to. I mean, his response was not what I was expecting...
"Huh? You're a man, aren't you? Why do you need my permission? Now, I'm busy! Get out!"
I was stunned at his response. I mean, why would you say to an 11-month old?! Even the boy was surprised but gave an immediate answer: he was a guard or a soldier.
"Yes, sir! Thanks."
Although my surprise was already at its peak, the boy did another surprising thing...
He disappeared immediately. My eyes went wide with surprise. W-where did you go?! H-he didn't teleport... Right?
Well, that's the only thing that makes sense. The boy, Yemon, teleported somewhere somehow. I don't know where to, nor do I know how, but just by doing that, he will become an enormous thorn to the lord's plan.
I made my mind up at that time to eliminate the boy with any method I could. I was still at the door now, so I began to walk away when Reo called for me.
"So, what are you doing..."
"Uh! Um... Excuse me, Sir... I spotted the young master walking into your room, so I tried to stop him since you are busy..."
"Is that so... He's okay so that you can leave."
"R-right..."
Wait, did he realize that he teleported too? I thought he would be more surprised or something...

I ignored this at the time, but I thought the Hero's were acting suspiciously. Later, I found out that they were just dumb.
After that, I went outside to see if I could spot Yemon, but he was nowhere to be found. After an hour of searching, I gave up and returned to the house. When I did, I found the entire staff in an uproar. When I asked what happened, I was told that Yemon was missing.
I was made to search the house after that. We all continued searching for hours. Then, as we were about to give up and accept our punishment, Yemon left his room and stared at everyone... Not only that, but he was standing on both of his legs, but I don't anyone cared at the time.
The staff rushed to him and saw if he was harm. That's when he begins apologizing and speaking to all of us, which of course, surprised the staff. We were outside Reo's office too, so the noise of everyone's surprise caused Reo to come into the hall.
Reo knew that the child was missing and was the one who instructed everyone to find him, even though the culprit himself asked Reo before he left. Anyway, he ran towards the son and reunited with one another until the child began talking. This, somehow, surprised Reo, but not in the way that we're all thinking.
Reo screamed in joy. Why? For the dumb reason of, "He called me Dad!" Yes, this dumb reasoning is what Reo was thinking. I don't know if he was joking, nor do I know how he forgot the sentences before the boy left. Reo's wife, Itsumi, came out and did the same thing that Reo did.
Now, in all of the years that I worked for these two, never once did they do something. Only when they conceived a child did they started acted this way. Well, there was a reason for it... They were [Family-cons]...
Anyway, at this moment, I made up my mind to eliminate Yemon. I plan to use Yemon's odd behaviors to my advantage. I attempted to persuade the heroes that a demon demon-possessed child.
Sadly, it failed with me getting yelled at. Even when I tried to tell them to kill the boy, Reo shot me with a deadly aura. It caused me and the other staff to fall to our knees. Reo showed us, or rather me, that if anyone touches the boy, he will kill you... This was the first time I have seen the Hero serious.
Anyway, the two heroes departed sometime later to prepare for a celebration. When I noticed that they were furthest from this area, I rush the boy. This was my only chance to kill him. As I move towards him, the boy didn't move. I could sense that he didn't care. This gave me more anger. I unsheathed my sword and aimed for his neck.
But, before I moved my sword to the boy's head, Reo came in an instant and took me down. He didn't kill me. He did damage me. After I was secure, he took me to the dungeon, which is where I am now.
This humiliation! How could I fail my lord!?
Well, I guess I have another chance to kill him, but I will have to regain all of the hero's trust and that boy's trust. That'll be hard...
Right now, I'm alone with two guards standing in attention. I'm chained to the wall with anti-magic chains, so I can't use any of my magic power. I could overpower the chains, but it would alert the guards and Reo, so I have no choice but to wait.
Then, something else happens. Both of the guards fall to the floor. They aren't dead but asleep?
I look around the place to find the source which caused this. That's when I spotted him... The devil child.
"Wow, that's pretty cruel. Calling me the devil child like that."
"!"
My eyes widen. D-did he... read my mind?
"Yes, isn't it obvious?"
Everything in my mind stopped working. I couldn't think of anything else. All I could do is to watch the boy and his smile... He smiled like that of lord-sama. No, it's even more mischievous and dangerous. Then, he begins speaking in the demon tongue.
"You joke of a demon. Can you hear and understand me? I think so, even if I didn't talk in your tongue, but I think this is better this way. Anyway, I was told not to interfere with anything yet, but I doubt that one demon would be a problem."
At this moment, fear ran through my entire body. I can't explain the feeling... It's similar to what Reo did but more effective...
"Yes, this is a weaker form of that. For you, I'll reward you for withstanding that much. Even if you are a pathetic worm, you still can make some surprises. For you, feel my power. [Max Intimidation]!"
He shouted a skill even though it was unnecessary. Was he trying to provoke me or something? No, he wanted me to hear it. He wanted me to see how devilish he can be.
Then, I felt the result of his skill. An enormous aura was released out of the Yemon's body. It's far greater than Reo's and the Demon Lord's combined. My legs begin shaking to no end. If I weren't chained, I would be on the floor already, maybe even unconscious. Then, my legs burst open somehow.
"?!"
Not only that, the world around me began shaking. It's as if his power makes the world itself tremble. Then, my arms begin shaking and explode. I couldn't scream in pain. His aura is making me silent, but I'm crying to no end.
He then stops, and all of his aurae disappears. This allowed me to move... The first thing I did was puking out blood onto the floor. The boy speaks as I continue to puke.
"It seems the other people have noticed. They'll be here soon to check on you, but you'll be dead by then. Anyhow, good night."
The boy made a flicking motion with his right hand. I watch as the bars on the cell's door break. Not only that, but I watch as my head gets removed from my body. Before I could process everything, I lose consciousness and die...

A mysterious incident occurred on a otherwise normal science centered world where all of the children from the age range of eight to sixteen suddenly vanished. “Where have their kids gone and will they ever return?” The now childless parents never got to really ask that question, because a strange new element replaced their lost children. This element slowly mutated the various animals that they once ruled over with their technology to the point that they were immune to their modern weaponry. The barren land of savages on a continent far away from theirs also had their children taken, but they easily mutated just like the beasts and only grew stronger thanks to the incident. A revolution of animals eventually took place after the mutations started to cause the animals to understand just how badly the humans ruined their lives and planet. Humans were the slowest to figure out how to use this strange new element to evolve, while their opponents were evolving and growing stronger by the day they couldn’t even surpass their modern technology. When humanity was on the brink of extinction a long forgotten event finally ended and their children finally started to return from the various worlds they were summoned to! It turns out that the mysterious new element that they didn’t know what to call was mana and that it’s everywhere in some fantasy planets. The children brought back a increase in technology and techniques to grow stronger with, which caused the humans to finally be able to build safe havens for their race. They grew stronger and started to finally adapt to their brand new environment. This is the story of a orphan who was taken away from his world, before he could gain a sense of attachment to the world. Who only has his older sister to care about and how he ends up adapting to the new world in front of him.------------------Dog notes by doggo First 'five' chapters aren't what the story is really about and is more of a prologue. The reason why some are separated into parts is because Doggo originally posted them as a entire chapter. The main setting is Ghost's actual world and not any foreign world. So this story was already posted once to another site or this site three years ago… and Dog is finally ending that three year hiatus! The explanation on why Dog was on a three year hiatus would of been written in the review section, but rrl doesn't allow self reviews. I'd have to create a alt just to self review which they obviously don't want even tho I'd not give myself any stars so its going to be here instead. The update schedule is a chapter a week till Dog get a editor and then two chapters a week till Dog gets enough money to pay for Dog’s bills. The final goal is to release a chapter every other day. Dog writes 4k word chapters so they are about twice as long as some of the other authors so every other day is actually more like once a day. ------------------- The part that was supposed to be the 'review' which Dog wont bother editing out repeat infomation since it wasn't supposed to go here in the first place. The first thing Dog will go over is what changed for the first 5 chapters, so that anyone who still remembers Dog's little novel and wants to continue from where Dog originally left off can decide whether or not to reread it. Also Dog is moving over to qidan simply because dog like the app they have. Dog won't go premium even if Qidan tells dog to and will simply move back to royalroad or create a blog. The things that changed over the years are mainly two important things. The first is that Dog changed the first person point of view to a third person, because Dog read a really bad first person novel and it reminded dog of dogs own novel. Dog also changed the thoughts of the character to be - - instead of italics. Finally dog changed chapter 3 completely to make the mc not seem like a homicidal maniac and introduced a important character in chapter 3.What happened to do in the three years that dog was away? Was dog at college and now needs money to eat? Was dog off in space after successfully becoming a astronaut and has now returned home with a completed novel or two? The answer is actually quite plain dog graduated from highschool and was supposed to only spend a year at dogs owners house to choose what major dog wanted to go to college for.Dog didn't do that and is still stuck with dogs owners and is sick of being a neet. Dog wants to move and buy doggy food, but dog is antisocial and doesn't want to work a simple 9 to 5 job for the rest of dogs life. Dog is a reader before dog is a author and the reason why dog got into writing was because dog wanted to write a novel without all the things dog finds annoying. Dog spent the first year reading various novels and dropping various novels. Dog is all caught up and has to much free time on dogs paws. The first year that Dog took off was the very same year that qidan came out so dog was naturally overloaded with free chapters. But now that pemium exists dog naturally has to limit the amount dog can read. Dog is addicted to reading like my very own readers and can understand your frustrations for dog disappearing for 3 years.Dog decided that dog will go back to writing 2 years ago. Dog wanted a decent stockpile incase dog has any other emergency so dog didn't post for a year but then dog decided to change the point of view which took another year.Dog has a patreon page https://www.patreon.com/mclaindog but there isn't any tiers there or goals till dog gets a editor. My final goal is to release a chapter every other day, but as long as Dog gets a editor Dog will do two free chapters a week.Dog will probably also make a kofi for anyone who just wants to send dog a tip and can't afford to donate money monthly while maybe having bonus chapters if the tip jar gets filled.
