《Code Death[Dropped]》Chapter 9 - A New Rival are you worth my trouble

Ugh, hate the way stats look on here when i post it over. Would be glad if someone told me how to make blue boxes.
Xzavon woke up the next day refreshed, not only did he eat good, considering he hasn’t ate anything in 3 whole months. He also felt like he had a new body, but whenever he looked at himself he was the same, nothing was different. It wasn’t just him, other people in the clan also turned to look at him twice, even the people who never seen him before.
Today is a good day, it’s the day he officially starts schools, even though it’s been going on for 3 whole months already. His parents told the teachers that he was doing special training, and considering his family’s power and prestige, the school didn’t look into it much.
Jim was sitting at the table with a slight smile on his face, he was happy because his son woke up from the spirit realm. Also because his son seems a bit different from before, but he really wants to know what his son’s spirit beast is. “Oi, boy happy to go to school today? Don’t worry, you haven’t missed much considering what you’ve gotten in return. Come show me your spirit beast, and see if its worthy enough for our clan.”
Xzavon felt proud of himself, his day didn’t have an arrogant tone like he usually does when he talks to him. Not to mention that he has a divine spirit beast who use to be a god, ‘time to make this old guy pay for the troubles he put me through.’ Xzavon started grinning at Jim weirdly, “You got it old man, but don’t be too surprised when you see him or…it.”
Xzavon pointed towards the empty space in the room and shouted, “Summon Spirit!” Jim and him both stared at the empty space, but nothing happened, not even after 10 minutes. Jim glared at Xzavon with disappointment, “Stupid! I’m going to lose so much face because of you, lucky not that many people know you hold spirit power.” Sighing Jim continued, “I guess I shouldn’t hold expectations towards you anymore, you’re just a stupid brat afterall. Has god forsaken me, and given me a terrible son.”
Xzavon felt disappointed, he was use to Jim talking bad about him, so that didn’t really disappoint him much. What really disappointed him was the fact that Uberas never came out, a divine spirit beast that contracted him didn’t answer his call.
A voice was heard in Xzavon’s head while he was wondering why Uberas didn’t appear, “Boy, no wonder your father calls you stupid. I am a god, not a spirit beast. Although I am in your spirit world and this world claims me to be a spirit beast, I am not.”
Xzavon was shocked, this meant that no matter what he did, he could never summon Uberas into this world. “What do you mean, I should be able to summon you. Damn gods just don’t want me to summon someone as powerful as you.”
Jim looked at his son sideways, “Boy, who are you talking to?”
“He can’t hear me, and to stop yourself from looking stupid in front of people you should talk to me mentally from now on.”
Xzavon shook his head and started walking towards the door, “Nobody dad, thought I heard something.”
Opening the door he was bumped into a something so soft, it made his bed feel like a rock. He glanced up and noticed the giant pair of twin peaks staring him right in the face, the only word to describe them are gigantic. Even bigger than watermelons, he didn’t know how to describe how big they were, but he certainly enjoyed bumping into them.

Seeing the child bump into her, she looked away face blushed red. Softly she said, “Umm, can you please stop staring, i-it’s embarrassing.”
Xzavon blushed, he didn’t think she would know he was looking at her chest. But how couldn’t see know what he was looking at, his height was perfectly the right size to stare directly at her chest. When he stepped away he finally noticed her facial features, snow white skin, curly orange hair stopping at her shoulders, blue eyes, and small pink lips. If he hadn’t seen some beautiful women already he would have certainly fallen for her, even if she looked to be around 30 years old.
Jim seen her appear and happily said, “Marry you came. Don’t mind that stupid son of mines, come Victoria should be back in a minute to take that child back to school.”
A surprised look appeared on her face, she never thought she would bump into the headmaster’s son, “Sorry, I didn’t know you were his son.”
Jim glared at Xzavon like he did something wrong, then looked back at Mary, “Don’t bother Marry, he should have minded those hu-I mean the doorway. Besides, you’re going to be his aunt in a few weeks anyways, so you’re already like family.”
Xzavon took one last glance at that huge chest before finally stepping foot outside. Outside were tons of houses right by each other, some bigger than others. Tons of people could be seen training, talking, or even walking down the streets. Everything was surrounded by a forest, it was like they were hidden away from the public to see.
Taking a stroll around the place which was no bigger than the first town he appeared in, Xzavon stumbled upon a weapons shop. Noticing the swords, bows, staffs, gauntlets, books, hammers and other weapons Xzavons eyes sparkled, this is just what he needed. He can use magic without a staff, but with a staff he would really be able to become a powerhouse like no other. Looking at the few staffs which were shown, they each had something different about them, but one thing the same, which was they each were top of the line. Xzavon grabbed a light blue staff, instantly he felt power surge through him, it felt as if he could punch through a boulder.
He really liked this staff, he walked it up to the counter and rang the bell so the clerk could appear. “Yes, who is it?” A beautiful voice sounded, then a young looking girl who appeared no more than 16 came from behind the door. She had lush green hair, azure eyes, a well sized chest and a nice face, all around she wouldn’t lose to the other females he has seen so far.
Showing her the staff in his hand, “How much is this?”
She showed a light smile which instantly made his heart skip a beat, she wasn’t like the other females he has seen so far. Her smile made it seem like nothing else was important in that moment, it felt as if he would jump across a sea filled with acid just to save her. That is how her smile made him feel in that moment, she was like a goddess who entered his world. “That’s a fairly good staff you picked up kid, it increases magic power by 150%, also increases movement speed by 50%. Since you’re so cute, i’ll make it 50 white coins, seems like a good deal.”
50 white coins, Xzavon didn’t have that kind of money. He came to this world broke, his mom paid for his clothes, he never got a weapon, nor did they give him anything. If it wasn’t for the clothes his mom brought him, he would truly look like a beggar, or an ophan. He lightly smiled and said, “Sorry, I don’t have that kind of money. I’ll just ask Jim to pay for it later, how does that sound?”

She was slightly startled and angry at the same time, startled by the fact that this child knows child and that he doesn’t even have 50 white coins. Angry by the fact that he wanted to leave with the staff and claim to have someone else pay for it later. She snacthed the staff from his hands and said, “No thank you. Come back when you have some money little bro, maybe the staff will still be here then.”
Xzavon was upset, he couldn’t get the staff he wanted and he couldn’t even use Jim’s name to get it from her. He even said he’ll have Jim pay her back for it, but she still wouldn’t give it to him. “Come on, i’m good for my word. To be honest if you were a guy I would have just taken it from you, but seeing as to how cute you are I have no choice but to change my mind. If you give me the staff, Jim will pay you back trust me, the old man may have his ways but he always pays what he owes.”
Seeing how stubborn Xzavon was, she wanted to shout at him and tell him to leave, but she couldn’t do that not after he called her cute. “Little bro, you can’t use uncle Jim’s name out of the blue. I don’t know how you know him but he can’t solve all of your problems.”
‘She took the bait’ Xzavon was happy, she fell for his little trap, “Ah, you mustn’t mistake me for those other people who know of him. I am Xzavon, or otherwise known as Raven Phenix, Jim’s only child. Surely you must believe me now right cutie?”
She gasped, never would she have thought that this boy would be related to Jim. Thinking about it over for a few seconds, she couldn’t believe what he said, “Really Jim’s only child huh. Now that I think about it you look kind of strong, how about we have a duel and if you win i’ll give you the staff for free instead.”
Xzavon really didn’t want to fight this girl, not because he was weak but because she looked weak. But he learned never to underestimate his opponent after his duel with Gunner. Although Gunner looked kind of nerdy, he wasn’t someone who would be easily bullied and he proved that.

Xzavon had nothing but pride on his face, she’s only level 20 he can beat her easy, “Alright, lets duel then. But if I win not only do I get the staff, how about a kiss too?”
Seeing that he said it with pride, Rita thought he might have something to back it up. She hasn’t had a good fight for a while, nothing like beating up kids. “Alright, and what if you lose, what will I get?”
Xzavon lightly laughed, “Me, lose. If I, Xzavon happen to lose I will ask Jim to give you 500 white coins. I will call you boss, and you can attend Saint Hail Academy with me, how does that sound?”
This offer was too good to be true, but even if it was a lie she couldn’t pass up the chance to go to one of the top schools so Rita agreed. Even if he didn’t have the money or went to that school, having someone call her boss will feel good.
Xzavon followed Rita towards one of the training fields, there wasn’t a lot of people around, and the ones that were, were mostly in their 20s. They seen Rita, and most of them stepped off the field, they knew she found another prey to play around with. They wondered what the poor soul did to piss her off, but they had no intention of helping him out.
“Poor guy, I hope he survives Rita’s fury.”
A guy slapped him on the back jokingly, “Don’t worry, the worst that can happen is he’ll be recovering for 3 months right. Let’s just sit back and watch the show.”
Everyone else nodded in agreement, and left to the outskirts of the training field. Seeing that everyone made way for them, Xzavon felt someone was off. It’s not like his name was widely known as Jim’s son, so that would only mean that these people respected Rita. He felt his blood boiling, a new rival has appeared in front of him, if he can win that would mean he has stepped into a new boundary.
Rita felt kind of ashamed that she was going to fight this kid, so she said, “Do you really want to continue? I mean, it’s not like you can’t save 50 white coins and buy the staff later.”
Smirking Xzavon replied, “Don’t worry, at worst I lose. Doubt it, but that’s the worst thing that can happen.”
They distanced themselves to around 30m, and glanced at each other waiting for one to make the first move. Xzavon didn’t want to give her any openings to start her attack, he knew she was higher level by 10 and if she attacked first then he would get caught up in her pace. Starting off with a he appeared before her, but he felt like his body was drained of all his strength. Before he could even throw a punch, or even a kick his body went flying across the field. Coughing up a mouth full of blood, he was surprised, not at the fact that he went across the field but because he couldn’t even land one blow.
Rita scratched her head and said, “Let’s stop here. You didn’t even have a chance to attack me, and when I hit you I only used 20% of my power. If we continue, I don’t think you would see tomorrow.”
The words hit him hard, he couldn’t accept it, “No! I was just testing you, this time for real.” He staggered up, but his legs felt weak as if they were about to give out. He wondered why he felt so weak, did it have something to do with him trying to summon Uberas before? No, that couldn’t be the case, maybe it was due to the fact that he hasn’t really moved his body in 3 months.
Xzavon used again, but this time he didn’t even go 5m before he was out of breath. “What the hell is going on!”
Rita walked up to him and patted his head, “Listen little bro, don’t worry about the 500 white or the school, just call me boss from now on.”
Xzavon turned around and grabbed Rita’s arm, “Wait, i’m stronger than this. It must be because I haven’t really used any mana in 3 months. Once I get the feeling back, it’ll be better the next time.”
Rita blushed because no one really touched her, well no one of the opposite sex. “Don’t worry little bro, maybe when you reach level 20 or higher we can duel again. But for now, try to reach level 2 and upgrade your stats.”
‘Level 2…i’m level 10 what the hell is she talking about!’ Xzavon then checked his stats, “Check Info.”

Xzavon was upset, really upset, so upset he yelled at no one, “What the hell! Why am I level 1 again. What is with these stats, all my hard work is gone.”
“Don’t worry, everyone starts out like that. Train hard, maybe one day you’ll be as strong as big sis.”
The people who stepped away started to return along with someone’s voice, “Rita! What the hell is this, you actually got us worked up over nothing. Bringing a brat like him here, making it seem like we would have a good show to watch.”
Rita looked at the guy who said it, “Mark, I thought I smelt you. No wonder I got the feeling someone was staring at my tits and ass the whole time.”
“Haha, it could have been some other guy who was looking, doesn’t mean it had to be me. Besides, was this guy even worth your trouble?”
Xzavon left the field to return home, he really wanted to know why was his stats so messed up. “Uberas, why didn’t you tell me I had to sacrifice my stats in order to get some skills I can’t even use.”
“With great power, comes great sacrifice. This is nothing, you can easily get them back, although it will be harder now, but never the less you will get them back. Although if you are getting upset at this I fear what will happen when you lose something greater in the future. Sacrifice is something that gives you power above anything else, but in return you must give something that is tens or hundreds times more in return. In the case of awakening the first step, the step of knowledge you have given up all your stats.”
Xzavon sighed, “If it’s just losing stats and levels that’s fine, just means i’ll have to train harder than everyone else.”
When he reached the house, Jim and Victoria both were outside cross armed. The looks on their faces surely wasn’t lovely, especially his mother’s. Xzavon knew something was wrong, but he couldn’t figure out what he did wrong. Thinking about what happened since he woke up, he couldn’t figure out one thing, the only thing he did was bump into his big chested aunt.
Victoria glared at him, you could see the anger in her eyes, “Raven! How could you bet on a fight with a girl using our money, not only that you even said you’ll have her attend school. You don’t understand the trouble you have caused us, you can’t use other people’s means and power for your own gain.”
It all came back to him, but he never thought they would find out about it, besides Rita said it was ok and he didn’t need to pay her nor go to school. The only thing she wanted was for him to call her boss, but how could he know that Jim has eyes and ears all around the clan. To gain information on his own son, you can call it child’s play.
Xzavon knew he was in trouble for doing something like this, but what can he do it’s already too late. With the knowledge of the past Xzavon thought of a way to escape his parents anger, “About that, i-i’m sorry. I really didn’t think I would lose, and I really wanted that staff but couldn’t think of anything else. For my selfish actions I have caused shame to our family, to you guys.”
Victoria was the first to take the bait, her eyes brightened up thinking that her son is maturing fast. How would she know that he’s just using his knowledge of how other kids his age got away with things back on Earth.
Jim calmed down a little, but it wasn’t a lot, to really settle his anger he chopped Xzavon in the head. “Boy you have manned up a little, next time you use us for your own gains i’ll chop something off for real. Giving her 500 white is a little much, you must not understand the currency here, but her going to school is fine. Since you lost the bet, you must be a man and keep true to your words, don’t worry the 500 white are going to come out of your allowance. We’ll the money you were going to get, now its gone who knows that you’re going to do for food at school.”
‘Damnit, this guy never gives. If his anger didn’t settle down who knows what I would go to school looking like.’ Xzavon nodded his head in agreement, the only reason being is that he couldn’t do anything about it.
Victoria opened up a portal and looked at Xzavon, “Come, you’ve already missed 3 months worth of education. We can’t have you waste any more time, don’t worry about Rita she’ll be in the same year as you, but she will come in 1 week.”
Xzavon nodded his head, and leapt into the portal, he was happy because today was going to be his first day on his own.

8 120The Gambit
The kingdoms have rarely experienced peace, with kings and rulers warring against each other on any percieved slight. With explorers riding the waves to find new lands and merchants eager to set up trade routes while profiting as much as possible. Would the status quo still hold up? The veil is already weakining as more magic and horrors seep through the gap. How would the world deal with the sudden increase in the limited resource of magic? With the times changing, barren lands become trade hubs and the power shifts. The system holding it all together, is in a fragile balance, would a single death break the balance and cause the most devastating war the people have experienced. The direction of the story : The story will not contain any main protagonist, rather multiple protagonists and antagonists with the protagonists having bad some character traits and the antagonists some good ones. I plan to make a story of flawed humans, so if you are looking for OP MCs you would not enjoy it. But I still hope you give it a try. This is my first time writing and I am doing it to get better, so any suggestion or criticism is welcome. I am a university student, so do not expect a robust upload schedule, I'll try to put out 2 chapters a week, but there might be some delays. I apologize for it in advance. P.s. English is not my native language, so there might be some errors, though I tried to mitigate them as much as possible.

“Hahaha.” A laughter. Umbrum seemed to be like any other… actually, he didn’t, he was the unusual type.A mage coming from likely nowhere, to join the Esoteric Syndicate, one that did not even have an invitation, who bypassed the formalities by accident, who inconvenentiently stomped on unspoken rules.Despite living in troubling times where anyone could enter history, he never did, or perhaps, he was forgotten from the era itself.Isolated from the world. Why is it so ? Unfortunately, his true story is one that is untold to people and is deformed as a fiction to scare little children after his death, despite everything, he was not completely forgotten.
