Alys took Yura to the dining room and sat her at the table. No one else was in the room yet, which meant that the Master was either on his way down or he went back to sleep. Alys hoped it was the former... for his sake.
She then left the dining room and went to the kitchen, where she found a white haired lass a tad shorter than her cooking at one of the ranges. The lass was humming some tune that Alys did not recognize. The cook did not seem to notice Alys.
"Good morning, Ila. Are the masters' meals almost ready?"
"Hmm?” Ila turned around. “Ah, Alys! Yes, breakfast is almost done. Today I've got some a western style breakfast with eggs, bacon, and pancakes~"
Ila's voice was high and playful. Alys had the impression that she sounded like what Yura would in a few years.
Was this the Master’s doing? she thought. Perhaps the Master used Yura’s voice as a sample for Ila’s voice bank.
But such thoughts did not matter at the present time.
"Very well, please bring it out as soon as it is ready. And please do not forget their usual drinks."
"Yes, yes~. Tea for Lady Yura, and ginger ale for the Master~"
Ila resumed her humming as Alys left the kitchen and walked back into the dining hall.

Of course, that’s not the only motivation, but I think it’s the most important one for me to keep in mind, especially as the author. In fact, this whole story came about because after consuming oodles of fiction, I found myself craving a very specific type of story which I couldn’t find many examples of. Then I asked myself, “why not write it myself?” and here we are. Disclaimer: In general, while I’m not writing a comedy, I do intend for this story to be funny and a bit wacky or absurd. That said though, I am using this story as a vehicle to explore some potentially dark topics including (but not limited to) slavery, speciesism/racism, and existential questions of self, consciousness, and identity. Still, I’m going to leave the “traumatizing content” tags off, because I don’t feel that what I’ve written so far (or plan on writing) exceeds the threshold that would be necessary for me to tag it thusly. Also, [insert your favorite boilerplate “views expressed” disclaimer here]. I shouldn’t need to say this, but the main character can be wrong on occasion (gasp!) and the way she views the world is not the objective truth (if such a thing even exists).

The world was prophesied to end at 2012, on December 12th. It did, in a way, just not the way people thought. Her parents have done everything they can to make her forsake this God, but nothing has worked. As her marriage day draws near, and the insanity that is her family gets worse, she turns to the one God she knows can hear her prayers, and will answer. But her wish comes with a price. Will it be able to save not only her, but the ""Evil"" God as well, or will they all down spiral into madness?
