《The Blood Mage》10 - Words are not needed

You know, sometimes, I get moody. Sad, happy, confused. When Im happy, I get stupid. When I get sad, I get sad. Confused, a bit intelligent. Strange isnt it?
By being brutally honest with my expression and body language, the lion would understand what I want. Hm, I should also find a name for the fellow.
As the sun is still high, I ride on the soft furry beast’s back. The abnormally large fish I put behind me. With a simple point forward, the friendly creature starts to march on. Hmmm, since I don’t know where to go, I’ll just let the beast take the lead from now on.
With an abundance of time in our hands, I ponder a few things I ignored till now.
Back when I was sucking the blood out of this poor guy, a switch turned on in my mind. I could still remember vividly how it felt like, being extremely thirsty while stranded in a desert, and suddenly, I found an oasis. That’s how it felt like. I tried testing the switch once again in the lake, that time the feeling was more clear, I also felt hot, like my blood was boiling. But because the water in the lake was cold in the morning, I gained a bit self-control on myself. I never thought I could jump in the water, it was like bending reality. That’s…..impossible, yet it happened
Then about this weird beast. I mean, are beasts this smart in this world? Seriously, I should have died the moment the lion woke up. Instead, he goes on to the lake to catch a fish? NO! This is not how a lion should act! He should shred me to pieces, cut off my limbs, chew them in front of me, crunch on their bones, then proceed to bite off my head. That’s, how you be a lion. Maybe this lion forgot how to lion. Lion Lion. Rambling is fun.

Again, baffled by my master’s action. To tell me to start walking, then letting me lead the entire way, while he sits behind taking a nap I suppose, oh well, this feeling of dependence is what fuels my motivation.
With my enhanced eyesight given by my race, I could see that the forest has oak trees. Oak trees are generally found in the Kir’s continent. I never liked a Kir before, excluding my master, they are a bunch of hot headed savages with heads filled with knowledge on the art of war. Besides that, they also have a decent control over offensive magic, like fire and lighting. Because of this, they think they are the supreme race over all the others. In my past life, I had a few Kirs as my owner. When being with them, all they ordered was kill kill kill.
Hopefully my master won’t find trouble with them.
“Hey lion”
“Grrrm?”
“Do you want a name?”
A name huh. A name, that signifies what the person is all about. Can’t say I don’t want one.
“I’ll take that silence as a yes. You know, Im not good with naming, but I’ll give my best”
I...am..speechless…Well I never said anything until now…..but my master giving his upmost effort to give me name? I….am once again befuddled..no masters of my past life had been this caring. They usually forget my name and called me butler most of the time.
“Let’s see”
Take your time master, I will accept whatever name you give me
“ARGHH!!!”
My master suddenly spasms on my back. I stopped but I can’t look back without making him fall. So I lowered my body while feeling anticipated and nervous. I growl slightly to make sure he’s ok.

“Its…ok..I am fine…Its just I had a revelation just now about your name…”
A revelation? How? Who?
“Your name….shall be..”
Did the gods sent my master a revelation? Why? Is my name that important?
“LEONIDAS!”
Leonidas….A powerful name..for a powerful person..
“In greek Λεωνίδας, also, it means Lion’s Son. Epic name isn't it?”
Though the word ‘greek’ bothers me, yes, it is ‘epic’. I give a soft pur to my master telling him that the name was indeed, ‘epic’
“I knew you would like it. Come on, let us march towards adventure, Leon!”

Author's note : Leonidas, I like that name. But the MC still doesn't have one. I beg of thee, shower this lowly author with thy intelligence.
And as always, thanks for reading.

This rift transports him into another galaxy, where his journey to become the core of the most prominent sect begins. --- This is my first story, and the release schedule will be spotty in the beginning because I still have to do a lot of world building and thinking where the story should go. But I decided to put it out into the world to get some feedback so I can see what people think about it and maybe even get some inspiration. --- The cover image is not my own. I copied it from the internet. I thought it was cool and it suited the story. All rights reserved for the owner of the image.

Letters from a Dying World
Times historic are often penned after the fact in the lifeblood of the pitiful, forgotten masses. That roiling, uncountable crush of humanity, they who held the pikes and they who threw down the tyrants. Their veins opened by gazes academic, sharp and cruel, and pecked away at with quills, written out of their own story. The Second Dark Crusade was a time of such poignancy. A time when the light of man waned and flickered, choking in the acrid smoke of its own inadequacy. As befitting of such an age it has been covered more than a capital whore, and so I attempt not to tell that story again. That story of dull, unfeeling analysis. Neither here will you find the browbeating, propagandistic screeds so common in the hands of men, the light of youth still burning behind their eyes. Nay, here I shall attempt to cover fresh ground, not tread on the grave dirt of long dead authors. Here I shall attempt to tell the story of the small lives caught, unbeknownst to them, in the great and torrential downpour that we now call history. Here lies the true story of The Second Crusade. - Loremaster Ip'Qal
