《A Tale of Casual OPness》Chapter 9: The Adventurers Guild

“Ahahaha, that’s better. Catch kid.” (Geoffrey)
Geoffrey pulled out a small coin pouch and threw it at me, “Now don’t go spending it all at once.” (Geoffrey)
Why did he have a coin pouch with just 10 silver in it? “I know how to manage my money you know.” (Daniel)
“Not if you’re trying to sell a sword as good as this one.” (Geoffrey)
Geoffrey put the sword back in it’s sheathe and walked back into the shop. I looked at the small pouch in my hand skeptically, and opened it. And too my surprise there were a few copper coins, some silvers coins, and three gold coins. Now which one of us doesn’t know how to manage their money?
Let’s see if he notices after a week, if he does then he can keep the sword and I’ll just run away with the money. “Come on, let’s go.” (Daniel)
“Oh, wait” (Geoffrey)
I turned around, and Geoffrey was hurriedly running towards us. Did he notice already?
“You know where the Adventurer’s Guild is?” (Geoffrey)
“Ah, no. We just got here today.” (Daniel)
“Is that so? Well just take the main street to the town square, and it should be the building to your left. There should be a sign with the Adventurer Guild’s insignia above the door, you won’t miss it.” (Geoffrey)
“Ah, Thank you.” (Daniel)
“Since you got here today, I’m assuming you haven’t dropped by an inn. Am I right” (Geoffrey)
“Yes” (Daniel)
“Then drop by my friends inn, the Heavy Forge inn. It’s the 3rd street before you get to the town square, just take a left and head straight for three blocks before taking another left. Then It should be the inn to your right with a large hammer. Just tell whoever’s manning the front desk that Jeff sent you.”(Geoffrey)
“Thanks again” (Daniel)
“No problem, it’s easier to find you this way.” (Geoffrey)
With that Geoffrey bid us farewell, and we made our way to the main street. We slowly made our way down, and just like Geoffrey said there it was. It was an especially large three story wooden building. Its surface was covered in holes, and marks, and number of patch work repairs. And above it’s two large doors which a number of odd characters repeatedly walked in and out of was the Adventurer Guild’s insignia, a Dragon’s severed head pierced by a sword.
We made our way inside, and were immediately greeted by an almost deafening clatter. There were men and women scattered about, drinking, eating, chatting, working, fighting, gambling, sleeping, or sitting. There were some sprawled onto the floor with bruises, some who were receiving medical attention by a priest, and some who were selling their wares or goods.
There were those who were dressed in a knight's armor, some clothed in a gear created from monster parts, and some who choose to wear almost nothing at all. There were young children, old men, seductive women, charming men, fat slobs, and muscular men.
But to sum it all up, it was just pure chaos, I wonder how I didn’t hear any of this outside? We made our way through our noisy, and crowded surroundings to the desks in the back of the Guild. There were a number of armed men, I assume who were working for the guild standing by, and a few men behind the desk organizing papers or flyers.

Behind the desk were a number of beautiful women, and behind them was a massive board of missions that extended all the way to the third floor, almost reaching the roof. But it’s probably just for aesthetics, to the right and the left were smaller but wider boards that held a number of missions.
One of the receptionist noticed me, and asked, “Hello, how can I help you?” (Receptionist)
“We’d like to register as Adventurers.” (Daniel)
“Free or Full-Fledged?” (Receptionist)
“Full-Fledged.” (Daniel)
“Very well then, that will be 2 silver.” (Receptionist)
I pull out 2 pieces of silver, from Geoffrey’s coin pouch and handed it to her, and asked “How does registration work?” (Daniel)
She opened up a drawer filled with coins and deposited the coins in them. “We only require a few things, a name, it can be an alias if you wish. And a little bit of your mana. But if it’s possible we’d like as much information on you as we can get.” (Receptionist)
“Is that so?” (Daniel)
She pulled out a piece of paper from the stack beside her, and a magic pen. Unlike pens from my old world, these pens don’t run on ink. Instead there’s a small magic crystal inside of the pen, and a magic crystal at the tip of the pen.
The pen directly changes the surface of whatever’s written to the desired color. It’s probably quite expensive, all magical items are, but it’s better than using a this world’s normal pens. And they last forever, even if you break it as long as the crystals are intact it should be rather cheap to get a new one.
“Your name?” (Receptionist)
“Daniel” (Daniel)
“Age?”(Receptionist)
“15” (Daniel)
“Gender” (Receptionist)
“Do you really need to ask that?” (Daniel)
“Sexual Preference” (Receptionist)
“What does this have to do with signing up?” (Daniel)
“Height” (Receptionist)
“I don’t know.” (Daniel)
I’m like five foot something I think.
Suddenly the receptionist slammed her hands on the desk, “How don’t you know!” (Receptionist)
“Well, I never really cared….”(Daniel)
The receptionist glared at me for a moment, before sighing, “This generation, they’re getting worse by the day.” (Receptionist)
“How does that even-” (Daniel)
“Class?” (Receptionist)
“Swordsman” (Daniel)
The receptionist paused, and looked at me once more and smirked, making it blatantly obvious that she was trying not to laugh. This receptionist, really ticks me off…
“Can you read and write?” (Receptionist)
“Yeah” (Daniel)
“Tch”, the receptionist clicked her tongue, and began wrote something down, “Are you rich?” (Receptionist)
“No” (Daniel)
“Ass or Tits?” (Receptionist)
“What kind of survey is this?” (Daniel)
“Answer the question!” (Receptionist)
“I refuse!” (Daniel)
“Wimp” (Receptionist)
“Bitch” (Daniel)
The receptionist glared at me, “Now this is the last question, how strong are you?”
“I’m average, maybe above average.” (Daniel)
“I see”, The receptionist grabbed something from underneath her desk, and stood up. She leaped over the desk, and stood in front of me. “Why don’t we test that out?” (Receptionist)
I looked over at all the other receptionist, but they don’t seem to want to care at all. And as I looked around there were several men and women just watching us as if this were a show.

“Is this part of the registration?” (Daniel)
“It is now.” (Receptionist)
Why are all the women I meet so violent or weird…..
No, let’s not jinx it, it’s only because this is the Adventurer's Guild. Yeah, that’s probably why. Now what do I do about her? I could easily kill her, but beating her is another thing. What level is she at? My intuition says I can beat her, but if I beat her and she turns out to be someone pretty strong I’ll end up drawing people's attention.
Do I run? But then what about registration? I paid her so she has to register me, right?
The receptionist lady, drew her sword and threw her sheathe at me. And without warning began madly attacking me.
“Would you calm down, I just wanted to register.” (Daniel)
“And I just wanted to be a princess, but we can’t have everything we want now can we!” (Receptionist)
I turned to the guards standing by, “Aren’t any of you gonna stop her?” (Daniel)
But they remained motionless, they acted as if I weren’t even there.
“Don’t worry just fight her,” An adventurer behind me started replied, “She’s stop soon enough after all….” (Adventurer)
He stopped every now and then too take a bite out of the chicken in his hands, or take a drink from the large wooden mug on the table, “She’s completely irrelevant to the plot. No, I suppose nothing ever completely irrelevant after all her existence brought me here didn’t she?” (Adventurer)
This is? The fourth wall! What’s going on!
“After all she’s a nameless existence, something with no real importance, no value, a mob will you. Yet, her actions are extremely illogical, they follow no proper thought process. As a matter of fact, this scenario should never have happened.”
Her existence and the very fact that she has no name as is simply referred to as the Receptionist means her illogical actions are due to something else, or will lead up to something relevant at some point. Isn’t that right Miss. Receptionist” (Adventurer)
This is? Who is he? This is, an otherworlder? No….
“Shut up you! I have a bloody name, it’s….it’s!” (Receptionist)
“It’s?” (Daniel)
“What is it…..what’s my name!” (Receptionist)
Suddenly, the receptionist dropped her sword and began madly screaming. Yet, it was as if everyone were looking right through her. No one did anything, no one said anything, they just went about their day, eating, drinking, chatting, laughing.
And when I turned towards Silvia, she was calmly registering herself with the help of another receptionist. It was as if no one could see what was happening. No, no one but me and him.
“What’s going on? Who are-” (Daniel)
The receptionist on the ground stopped screaming, and turned to the Adventurer who was talking earlier,” You, you, you! What did you do to me! What did you do!” (Receptionist)
She grabbed the sword by her feet, and madly charged the Adventurer sitting down. And in her madness she blind shortsightedly charged at him, completely neglecting everyone around her causing her to charge straight into a group of Adventurers.
I warned them, “Watch out!” (Daneil)
But as if they didn’t hear me, they just moved on. And as the receptionist was about to collide with the group of adventurous she just phased right them and kept charging forward.
The adventurer sitting down took a bite out of his chicken and smiled at me, “Don’t worry, after I’m done with her I’ll get to you. You’re an irregularity, one that cannot remain yet cannot be deleted. I hope we’ll never meet again ■■■■■ ■■■■■■” (Adventurer)
Impossible, that name is! I pulled out a revolver from my Spatial Storage, my most powerful trump card!
And as the receptionists sword was about to reach the Adventurer, before my very eyes she disappeared.
I stared at him in disbelief, pointing my gun at him, “Who are you!? How do you know that name!” (Daniel)
Just to be safe I pulled out a teleportation crystal, and prepared to get away from here as soon possible. But it’s probably pointless, my intuitions screaming at me. It’s just like that time with the Reaper, no it’s worse than that time with the Reaper.
Who is this man? Just how strong is he? How dangerous is he? S-Class? SS-Class? SSS-Class? Is he a First-Class?
My mind’s screaming at me, it feels like it’s tearing apart. I’ve never felt anything like this, I’ve never seen anything like this. And worse of all, even though my body’s telling me to run the hell away, even though my mind's screaming get the hell out of here, my intuitions telling me one other thing.
It’s hopeless. Absolutely hopeless. It gave up on me. There’s no way out. There’s no way to escape.
In a desperate attempt to survive, I activated Disassemble at full power and tried to delete him. But it was no good, no matter what I did I could only disassemble his surroundings.
So instead I fused all the special bullet’s I kept in the cylinder together. Each bullet is comprised of a Magic Crystal infused with a Second-Class ability. Fused together their strength should rival a First-Classes!
And as I fired the bullet, and watched it fly off in slow motion. I watched as it neared the Adventurer and as it was about to release the combined might of all those Personal Abilities, he caught it with his one free hand while he used his other to eat his chicken.
And when he opened his hands, it disappeared. And with a wave of his hand, suddenly my specially crafted revolver disappeared. No, it’s not just my revolver, my right arm disappeared!
“AAAAAAAHHH!” (Daniel)
“Oh quit it, the World System should minimize the pain to an extent it shouldn’t hurt that much. You otherworlders should be used to losing your limbs. You could easily grow it back.” (Adventurer)
“You! Who are you!?” (Daniel)
“Me? Oh you don’t need to know who I am, I just need to know who you are. And I think I’ve been doing a pretty good job at it. New Name, Daniel Woods after your father who got lost in the Astel Woods. Age 15, with three Unique Skills, or what you refer to as Personal Abilities.” (Adventurer)
“How do you know all this!?” (Daniel)
“Well I just said it was my job, ah you know what how about this. Let me properly introduce myself then, I am one of many nameless men, and women I am. No, we are the Administrator. One yet many. Only one stands before you, yet over a million stand behind me. Daniel, it’s nice to finally meet you. And-” (Administrator)
The Administrator raised his hand, “Good bye.” (Administrator)

The Shattered Circle
Aleyr Frostborn has survived a hundred prophecies of her defeat, breaking each one by slaying the champions of light sent to kill her. Amongst the forces of good, her very name is a curse, and with good reason. Beyond her own evil, it is said that so long as she lives, the reign of the Godslayer himself will last: the lich king who the terrified masses call the King in Black. While the kingdoms and empires that surround the blighted lands of the undead lands struggle to survive and beat back the tide of evil, the machinations of the Eternal Kingdom's dark court barely contain the bitter struggles for power between the forces that have made it what it is. With one foretold hero brutally snuffed out, another will inevitably arise. For Aleyr, the cycle only further embitters her towards the gods of good and all those who serve them. But the truth is that her downfall might be something much closer to home than their prophecies, those last dregs of mortality beating inside her own chest. With a thoughtless intersection between cruelty and mercy, she begins a chain of events that threatens to tear the Eternal Kingdom and her own loyalties into shreds. After all, many things can be broken, not just prophecies.
