《A Tale of Casual OPness》Chapter 7: A Contract

Daniel's P.O.V

A few minutes ago~

The princess stared at me dumbfounded, “Aren’t you a deciding this a bit too casually….” (Silvia)

“A little, but no matter what choice I pick my life is still going to be on the line.” (Daniel)

“Yeah, but you could die….” (Silvia)

You were just threatening too kill me, do you really want to form a contract or not? Ah, whatever let's play along for now, “Oh, are you worried about me. Besides we all die eventually” (Daniel)

“But….” (Silvia)

What's holding her back exactly? Is she hesitant in forming a contract? Or is she genuinely worried about my well being? After everything she's done, could she really be worried about me even after setting me on fire, trying to stab my leg, and even threatening me with her own life? Or is she worried about something else?

The princess looked at me for a moment before hesitantly pulling out a magic scroll out of thin air. She unrolled the scroll and as she poured her mana into the scroll, she slowly began constructing the contract. And she.....

Wait a minute!? Where did she pull that scroll out from?

Is she an Otherworlder? No, that's improbable. Is she strong enough to use Spatial Magic? Or was she born with some special ability. Is it an item? How many other things does she have stored away.....

This is bad, I underestimated her...

I quickly looked over and she was still busy constructing that contract, so I secretly pulled out one of the Teleportation Crystals Richard gave me as a present behind my back. By crushing one of these I can teleport anywhere between 100-500 meters of my current location randomly to a random location. There's some risk in using it, but it's a bet I'm willing to take.

After all there’s no knowing what could happen. My Absolute Intuition isn’t omniscient you know, it has it's limits. It's not like those absurd First-Class abilities like The Great Sage Wiseman, Future Sight, or the World Archives.

There have been plenty of situations where Intuition hasn't reacted, or rather since Intuition doesn't always out right tell me I simply don't notice. After all Absolute Intuition requires information, I don't need to be aware of the information but it still requires it nonetheless.

It can't predict what someone will do, only what they will probably do. It can't predict what weapon someone has, only that they most likely have a weapon. And since I don't know what weapons she has, Absolute Intuition isn't reacting, or rather it isn't reacting violently and flaring up.

It's simply give me a little warning, that she probably has something else hidden. And that's it. I mean it's still extremely useful, but it could honestly be way better. It's one of the weaker Personal Abilities in the Second-Class ability spectrum.

Anyways, the princess finished setting up the contract, and with some rather biased conditions if I might add. The conditions only really benefit her, because I have to protect her, and I can’t hurt her. And if it ever comes down to it she could easily abandon me, kill me, or injury me and I wouldn't be able to do a single thing.

And the last condition only exists to sugar coat everything. Even if I get her to the capital she could easily back stab mean, and the reward itself is extraordinarily vague. A great reward could be anything from a million gold, to a million stones! Hell, she could even back stab me as a reward, and get away with it by saying it was a great honor to be penetrated by a princess.

I feel like that came out wrong, definitely came out wrong. Ah, the scroll.

I caught the scroll that was suddenly thrown at me, and examined it for a bit. There was a bloody finger print on the scroll so I'll assume that's one of the prerequisites required to complete the spell. I pretend to bite my thumb, and extract blood and cover my thumb. And then I stamp the scroll, before tossing it back to the princess.

After checking it over once, she smiled and threw it into the air invoking the contract. And as the scroll burst into flames disintegrating into ashes, two balls of red light were left floating in the air. These two balls of light shot out at both our right hands respectively, fusing into them.

I felt a slight burning sensation, and a red magic tattoo began forming on the back of my hand. And as I examined it a smile broke out on my face, “Well do you trust me now?” (Daniel)

“Well, I'm not afraid you'll kill me at the very least.” (Silvia)

I walked up to her, and offered my hand, “Well once again, it’s nice too meet you Silvia.” (Daniel)

She looked at me skeptically before taking my hand, and as soon as our hands touched I completely deconstructed both magic tattoos on our hands instantly voiding the contract.

And as I deconstructed the tattoo I transformed it into three components, blood, magic, and a spell formula.

And to make it a little easier to understand I suppose I should explain Magic a little. I’ll try to keep it short, but basically Magic is the practice of manipulating Mana in order to both defy and control the world's laws. And Mana itself is a mysterious force that exists in all things, that I'd rather not explain. It's confusing and I, myself don’t particularly understand it.

And the way Magic works is by structuring Mana to create a phenomenon or rather a Spell. This is done through directly manipulating the mana itself, through words, a prayer, a wish, a song, words, or any other of the numerous methods of using mana. But in the end it all boils down to producing a particular phenomenon by forming a particular structure known as a Spell Formula. And phenomenon, or spell, has it's own particular spell formula, with variations of course.

And this is rather convenient for me, because you see my Personal Skill Disassemble doesn’t just break down living, and nonliving things, but even those intangible things too. It can break down information, spirits, mana, and ghosts. And you see, by using Synthesis I can absorb some of those those things as well.

So I quickly absorbed the spell formula, and instantly the formula became etched into my head. So I began using both of my personal abilities to rapidly disassemble and reassemble the mana left behind before I deconstructed the magic tattoo. And as I extracted and infused our blood into the mana, I was able to completely reconstruct the magic tattoo. With a few changes of course, Appraisal!

Blood Bound Contract (Silvia Ver Teres)A contract that binds two people to the following terms:

-Silvia Ver Teres is prohibited from harming you directly or indirectly

-Silvia Ver Teres is not allowed to speak of this contract to anyone other than you

-Silvia Ver Teres must greatly award you with gold upon arriving at Teresta’s Capital.

-Silvia Ver Teres must follow anything that you deem is an order. No Punishment has been set, so all terms will be forced making contracte, Silvia Ver Teres, unable to break the terms.

That looks pretty good, I waste quite a bit of mana trying to reconstruct it, but I managed to make something rather useful. Plus I memorized a new spell.

Though learning spells, or rather anything like this is rather dangerous. If I absorb too much information, my brain would be too overloaded with information that I could fry my brain, or cripple myself, or worse I could die.

And I'm not over exaggerating, I've experienced it first hand. You see, there was one point in time when I completely deconstructed a book and absorbed it. And you see I absorb far too much information, and as soon as I absorbed it all I collapsed. And when my mother found me, I was on the floor spasming, drenched in my own blood.

I had to be taken to Emma’s Garden of Healing, and through the use of all sorts of medicine and several Personal Skills I managed to recover after a few months. And even after that I still had to go through a month of rehab, and I end up having to erase those memories anyway.

Though I was honestly quite lucky, there didn't seem to be any permanent damage, and if this were to happen in any other village I probably would have died long ago. And I learned to follow my Intuition more often, after all it was flaring up telling me not to do it the entire time, but for some reason I decided to ignore it.

So I can’t go around absorbing every book and spell I find, but it's still quite useful and as long as Intuition gives me the go ahead, than I'll be fine. Now I'm sure you're wondering, why don't I know a lot more spells and well things in general if I can literally fuse the information directly into my brain. Well, the Village itself lacks information about the outside quite a bit so I had to wait for that, and well It’s not like absorbing spells means I’m able to use them.

The information may be etched into my mind, but that doesn’t automatically mean I understand it or I know how to use it. I still need to figure out how to manipulate mana to form the formula, or else the phenomenon won’t manifest itself. I can get away with this by disassembling the mana and directly forming the spell using synthesis, but that requires a lot more mana.

This sort of ability is better used for reference, and things that just need memorization and not experience and practice.

Well that’s enough about me, I wonder how this digressed from spells to my miraculous ability to etch things into my mind with Synthesis and Disassemble.

Anyways back to the present, Silvia stood still looking at me, completely dumbfounded. And after I let got of her hand, she examined the new magic tattoo that replaced the old one.

“H-How did you….That’s impossible!” (Silvia)

“Nothings impossible, honey. Especially for me.” (Daniel)

Silvia immediately took her dagger, and tried to slit her own throat. But just before the daggers cold blade touched her throat’s delicate skin, it suddenly disappeared.

“This an order, you are forbidden from killing yourself.” (Daniel)

“Y-You, how did-!? What did you do!?” (Silvia)

I smiled, I could have easily disarmed her earlier, but I wanted to see what she was plotting. And It’s a good thing I did, I managed to get my hands on a rather useful spell and I even formed a contract with a princess.

“Well it doesn’t matter, anyways which ways the capital.” (Daniel)

“What?” (Silvia)

“Which way’s the capital, after everything that’s happened I could at the very least bring you back home.” (Daniel)

“Eh? Why?” (Silvia)

“Hmm?” (Daniel)

“The contracts been voided, and terms changed why are you doing this? You could easily kill me, or push me down and take advantage of me if you felt like it.” (Silvia)

Oh did she give up? Did she just say that if I killed her, the imperial family would have sought me out a few minutes ago, or something? Princess you’re acts slipping.

I sighed, “Do you take me for a psychopath? Has no one ever done anything for you simply out of goodwill?” (Daniel)

Besides, I did just kill the people who came to save you….

At the very least I could bring her back to the capital. If I immediately leave after bring her back, then I should be able to avoid getting tangled up in any of her affairs.

“But, you have no reason to risk your life for me.” (Silvia)

And besides, there are only some many things that could possibly kill me. And I’m prepared for quite a few of them.

“Don’t worry, I don’t die easily, and if worst comes to worst I’ll abandon you.So where’s the capital?” (Daniel)

“To the north….” (Silvia)

“Okay let’s go then.” (Daniel)

This was done a while ago, but I had too much work so I didn't get the opportunity to edit and upload it sorry.
