I didn't dare to make a single sound, with light footsteps I slowly crouched before the ruin and very carefully moved my neck to see this howling beast.
Something was laying on the ground, it had blood all over it, seeing it was injured I sighed in relief. I observed it for a while but it didn't make a move so I slowly but cautiously approached it.
As soon as I got close, I identified this beast. It was a wolf, majestic grey fur covered its body whole while a little red fur forming a crown could seen on his head. I believe there is no wolf that has natural red fur.
Suddenly a thought struck me 'wolves, they travel in packs don't they?' I was scared stiff thinking if the whole pack came here and were waiting to ambush me.
But when I observed this wolf for sometime there were some claw slashes and bite marks on its body along with an arrow stuck in its feet, from all these blood was leaking and this wolf was licking his wounds while howling pain.
This told me that the wolf was alone and was possibly hunted by his own pack, somehow it escaped towards the castle, his fortune was really good seeing how it got past the guards with only one arrow in his feet.
When the wolf noticed me, it started to howl ferociously. I could clearly see his blood lust when I looked into its eyes.
Those eyes they told me 'even in death it won't let its body get mutilated by some human'.
When our eyes met, the wolf stopped with his howling and was now as calm as it could be. His past vicious beast aura was nowhere to be seen.
Silently it was staring at my eyes, I could feel its eyes staring through my soul itself.

Without realizing I was moving towards it, the wolf didn't make a sound. When I got close enough to touch it, I slowly extended my arm and very gently rubbed his forehead. It didn't refuse, at least there was no hostility I could sense.
When I looked back to check up on Shilfa, she watching me while her whole body was trembling heavily. I understood what she must be going through, for the first time in her life she killed someone and now she could get killed. I assure her with my eyes and turn my eyes back to this wolf laying in front of me.
Its fur was standing up, all of which was really smooth and organized. From the day I hit Shilfa I started keeping herbs in my bag for emergencies, I take out some herbs with healing properties. As I do so, I also take my shirt off, revealing my well maintained body.
Seeing the large body of this wolf, to wrap its wounds my whole shirt would be needed. I try to alert the wolf through my eyes of the upcoming pain. I use hand gestures, pointing at my shirt with herbs on it then towards the wolf's wounds, hoping it would understand me and not bite me to death.
I then bandaged this wolf as tightly as I could, it didn't make a sound. When I saw what was up with it, it was gritting its teeth really hard trying its best to endure the pain.
I bandaged the bite and claw wounds but the arrow was still in there.
I once again use hand signs, pointing towards the arrow stuck in its leg and then I make a pulling gesture.
Fear, yes I am feeling afraid, my hands tremble little bit time to time but I am trying to do my best not to let them do so.

I first removed the tip of the arrow trying to sniff if there was any poison applied, thankfully there was none, after that it was like a wooden stick was stabbed in its leg.
With all my power, I pulled the arrow as fast as I could. The wolf howled in pain but it didn't attack me. Blood was flowing out from the wound, from where I pulled the arrow out. I quickly pressed the wound with one hand while I signaled Shilfa to bring me the robe Igarnes was wearing.
Shilfa hurriedly left to fetch me that robe but when returning to me her pace was dead slow which could be compared to a turtle.
She still couldn't get over her fear and was staggering, weird noises escaped from her mouth.
Personally I enjoyed watching this Shilfa but it was not the time for that. Not knowing why I felt a sympathy towards this wolf I was trying my best to save it.
From afar Shilfa threw the robe towards me still refusing to come close.
I wrapped the robe around its leg after covering it properly with herbs. Once I was done with it, I finally relaxed.
'Whew!' a sigh came out from my mouth.
I then looked back at this wolf, his eyes met mine. We both were staring at each other, I don't how much time passed. Its razor sharp brown eyes truly fascinated me as I kept staring at them.
The wolf lowered its head as I placed my hand on its head where the crimson crown was. The wolf started to move his head side to side resulting in my hand rubbing his fur. It seemed that this proud wolf liked me petting him, I too took great interest in him.
I brought it back to my castle but first I explained it to him not to attack anyone. Seeing how it understood me previously I risked that he would understand me this time around too.
when castle guards spotted this wolf near me and Shilfa they quickly pointed their bows towards it but I was already prepared for it so my reaction was even quicker,
I said in a cold commanding voice 'Calm down, this wolf belongs to me'
With only few words from my mouth all the castle guards went back to whatever they were doing before.
I took the wolf into my room, night was already on its way and I was tired for too long to endure any longer would be expecting from a human to slay a titan.
I crashed on my bed, the wolf followed me and jumped onto the bed.
The bed shook once as I bounced a little in the air but it settled down really quick, I was so tired that I didn't even saw the wolf jumping at me until it was beside me.
A wolf exiled by its own pack and a human who doesn't follow his kinds laws are both sleeping on one big fluffy bed as though it is normal while the young maiden is still afraid and keeping her distance, staring at these two abnormals sleeping side by side.

8 160Sustaining the King's Life
On a secluded mountain situated upon a kingdom known as Feuersturm, resides a seemingly trifling cabin with an unlikely duo as its inhabitant—a witch, and her apprentice who presumably comes from a clan sought after by slave traders. Faustina is a sixteen-year-old girl who fled the slave market with the help of a sickly witch named Eula, who later on trained her as an apprentice for the span of seven years. Plagued with a mysterious disease for several years, Eula died despite the efforts Faustina had exerted to cure her; in her last breath, she left an odd request behind. "Sustain the king's life. This is your duty. Do not adhere to the prophecy." To which the odd plea shadowed a bizarre series of events, a consequential sentence, similar to that of a premonition. The same night the phrase was muttered, the chain of events followed: A warlock's intrusion to their home, with a peculiar yearning to resurrect Eula from the dead... and the king himself, asking for Faustina’s aid. ** 1-2 chapters a day (GMT+8) ** (The artwork belongs to me.
