《Secret of the world》Chapter 2: The Dream

In the darkness, a voice called my name. I searched for the source only to find a light in the middle of the blackness. I floated toward it….no it was more like being drawn toward it. The light seemed to react to my presence. It flickered and danced in an odd way. I felt I had control again, so I kept a fair distance from it. It flickered once more then set it’s light on me. The light was focusing on me. It was not blinding, more of that of a candle
“So you are here?” a deep voice echoed through the darkness. My hand instinctively searched for my weapon. I found no such thing. I was unarmed. I held my stare at the light.
“Don't you know who I am electus?” asked the voice. I was unsure of what that word meant, so I just stayed silent. The light shifted as if confused and unsure of what to do.
More lights appeared around me. They were all different colors. There were eight in total. They seemed to be bickering but their voices were too low for me to hear. The first light, I had seen now took the shape of a human. It had no feature other than the outline of a human. It closed the distance between us slowly. After it reaches me; It tried to touch me, but a field built around me and shocked its hand away.
“We can't interact with him with those things with him,” it said. It pointed at the rings.
All the lights swarmed around looking at them. I was at a loss at what they were doing. I drew my hand closer to my body. Trying my best to hid the ring or just myself in this case. I could not find a way to get away.

“It seems he has blocks on his memories” spoke the yellow light. “He will not understand anything we say. We will have to hope future events will occur, allowing us a chance. We will have to hope the person of interest makes contact with him in time before it is too late”.
“You must be crazy!” spoke the red light. “We need him now before the great event unfolds. He has the determination and power we need. There is no better time to force him to remember his duty and his true feelings”.
My head ached as if a hammer was hitting a spike into it. I was confused and afraid of what is to happen. I covered my ears hoping it would stop. Strange images kept appearing before my eyes. I closed them to avoid any more pain in my body.
I’m scared
Make it stop
Please
The human shaped light raised its hand, and silence filled the darkness. It looked at me and tears fell for where its eyes would be. I could feel an unbelievable warmth from it, like that of the sun.
“Can't you all see you are hurting him.” the deep voice took that of a woman. It was a kind and warm. The pain seemed to lower when they stopped
“Could any of you actually bring harm to your beloved discipulo.” said the light. “He is the peak of what we call love. Something we have forgotten we had. Even I a creature born from hate, I sincerely love this boy as much as I know all of you do. I know he brought unknown happiness to all of you. So why would you insist on hurting him!”
A sound filled the silence left by the speech. It was a sound I knew all too well. The lights were crying so loudly. I could feel the pain and sorrow from where I was. Their tears just kept falling, as if it were raining, into the void below.

I felt tears roll down my face. I couldn't understand why I was crying. I felt a deep pain in my chest again. I wanted to stop the tears, but a part of me actually wanted to cry. I felt pain unlike anything before, I felt like all these light loved me but I didn't understand why. The tears just wouldn't stop. All the lights and I let out cries of pain. Fear and confusion filled me. I could grasp none of this at all.
“We know this,” The red light which suggested it was crying the hardest. He croaked most of the word through his sobs “We loved him like an eius! It’s the only ways I can think of to get eius back! We need him back because we can't live our lives without him! He taught us what it is like to love. We...need...him...back!” His cries were loud and they filled the dark.
All the lights cried harder. The tears just kept coming. I couldn't stop them. I cried out. But no words would come. Shaking I felt the desire to hold all the lights. I couldn’t expalin it. The urge came from deep within me. There was a part of my heart that wouldn't let go. No it reufesed ot let go. They tried to comfort me, but the field stopped them. Their pain and sadness were for me. I knew this and it killed me not knowing why they felt this way.
“We need our eius back”! They all spoke in unison. Their cries only grew louder. My heart only grew heavier and I felt the sadness grow. I finally did something with it.
“Please stop crying,” I said. My voice shattered the silence. All the lights turned to me. “I don't know any of you. The pain and sadness you feel hurts me more than any physical pain I have ever felt. I can't think of anything or even when I could have met you, but if I can't trust the memories I have, then….. I will put my faith in the tears I am shedding right now! So please I can't stand to see all of you in pain over me.” My tears filled the air as I cried out.
Then light started to fill the darkness. “No, he is starting to awake! Please just give us a little more time! They all tried to stop the light but slow the began to fade. “Please eius, PLEASE FIND US!”
“I will no matter what I will try and get you and stop the pain!” I shouted. All the lights faded. Just as the world of black fade; the human light spoke, thank you.

Viceroy's Pride
This story could be about the Tellask Empire, ruler of a thousand suns and faced with imminent peril at the hands of the Orakh hordes. It could be about Paltai Amberell, the scion of a noble elven House, fallen upon hard times and seeking to find the key that will restore his family's name and save the Empire itself. It could be the story of his voidship, The Viceroy's Pride, powered by magic and crewed by a team of crack marines as they search for adventure and the solution to the Empire's myriad problems. Instead, this is the story of Daniel Thrush, human electrical engineer, befuddled researcher and survivor of the debacle that was first contact with a spacefaring civilization. Due to a combination of luck, magic, hard work, and more luck he is thrust into the center of events as Earth is shoved onto a much larger stage rife with semi-immortal elves and magical kingdoms that predate the Earthly invention of agriculture. Earth is outnumbered, and we have precisely one wizard. Dan. He's not very good at it, but he's going to have to learn in a hurry or watch everything he knows get torn apart by massive spacefaring empires straight from the pages of a fantasy novel. ---------- Some readers have noted that the MC tends to be weak willed and pushed around a bit. A significant portion of the story is his character growth into not being a pushover (i.e. him being passive is in the early chapters on purpose). I'm just including this caveat/warning to make sure that readers aren't surprised/upset and that they stick with it until he learns to stand up for himself. His arc begins to crystallize around chapters 25-27. If that's too long to wait, I get it, I'm just trying to do my due diligence and warn you that the character development is a bit of a slow burn. This is NOT a harem novel. Nothing against them, just not what it is. --------- Updates Monday, Wednesday, and Sunday Feel free to bother me on our discord- Discord!
