Chapter 2: The Brother and the Sister
-Year XX29-
-Monday: July 11-
-08:25-
The dark-haired boy glanced at his watch, yawning immediately after reading the time.
「How can you yawn like that when school starts in five minutes?!」
Having finally succeeded in dragging her brother out of bed, Mana should have displayed an expression of triumph.
However, seeing her brother’s utter lack of urgency, she was justifiably anxious instead.
「Calm down. We still have time, don't we?」
The brother yawns, nonchalant as he stretched his arms.
Yet, it was apparent that the sister didn’t share the boy’s sentiment.
「Class starts in five minutes! It takes at least 15 minutes on foot to get to school from home, and we haven't even been walking for five minutes!」
「Then just run.」
「You know I have a sprained leg and can't run for another week!」
「Oh! So that's why you weren't delivering newspapers.」
「You forgot!?! Baka(1)! Baka! Aniki(2) no Baka!」
Having only woken up minutes ago, the boy continued to yawn throughout the entire exchange. However, he suddenly stopped.
「You're alwa-*sniff* always like this. Baka! Baka! Baka!」
His little sister had started crying.
Despite the harsh treatment she always gave him, Mana loved her brother, more than anyone in the world. She couldn't stand the thought of not being with her only brother, or the fact that she would be forgotten by him.
The dark-haired boy knew this.
「Sorry…」
Drawing closer, the boy stretches his hand towards Mana, her cheeks flushed red.
He would always stroke Mana's hair to comfort her, even since they were children.
His rugged hand gets closer to the tear-filled girl’s head, trying to dispel the stream of tears.
However, the kind hand that was supposed to console-

-ended up flicking Mana's forehead instead.
「Sorry, but your act won’t fool me.」
「Ow! What was that for?!」
「Serves you right!」
Seeing as her plan to get petted by her 'Aniki' failed, Mana wiped away her 'tears'.
「But still, that hurt! Baka!」
「Deal with it.」
Cold words were being tossed between the two. However, to these siblings, it was a simple family quarrel.
No. Perhaps it was their own way of bonding.
Either way, after the exchange, the boy looked at his watch again.
This time, however, he examined it carefully in order to capture the finer details.
-08:28, Thursday, 26th June-
The boy suddenly realised.
「We have Britney-sensei first…」
Britney-sensei is one of the school's strongest and feared teachers. She is also very strict, famous for giving long, long, loooong detentions at school.
A single bead of sweat had rolled down his face. The boy couldn't afford to be held back.
Not today.
He suddenly lifted Mana's body, giving her a piggy-back.
「W-w-what are y-you doing?!」
Mana's face flushed once more. Not of sadness, but of embarrassment.
「No time to explain. Just deal with it.」
-and with that curt response, a cloud of dust exploded beneath the boy’s feet.

Live by the Sword
--Follow a bandit prone to making poor choices in life. He lives in a somewhat medieval age where steel is king, blood is shed fairly lightly, and weakness gets you punished fast. But that's okay. As long as he has his sword, he'll be fine. Right? --This story is tragic and contains some depictions of violence and nudity. The attitudes of the characters don't represent my views and some of them are highly questionable. Due to these reasons, I've flagged the story as adult content. --I've been working on Live by the Sword since as far back as 2012 and it is my first actual effort at completing a book. Maybe I'll stick with it and there will be paperbacks of it some day. Who knows. Either way, I hope the words I tell give you amusement and perhaps some cause to think. Cheers.

Condemned
“The human body is a fragile thing. But the soul... The soul is malleable. Easily tainted. All it takes is one drop of blood to dye it all red.” Long ago, in a time remembered only by a few, the seven lords of Syvernia, led by the Great Hero Ludwig, ended the Great Calamity that plagued humanity for as long as time itself. It was the dawn of a new age of man. . . until the thirst for more poisoned the new lords. Slowly, the thread that held humanity together loosened and a thick haze consumed the lands between. Mysterious vanishings, supernatural forces, and silence warns of a looming threat inside the coat of fog. Though the struggle of the realms did not interest Leor, for he was condemned as a Purblight, until he took a seemingly simple job: escort Alden to Lightendale and collect the handsome reward, a reward that would let him live the rest of his life with ease. But it’s never that simple, especially for someone who denounced the Gods. All his life, death followed Leor everywhere he went, cutting down his friends and family. When his first love died at the hands of an agent of light, he was prepared to throw everything away until a mysterious voice promised him a chance for retribution and a chance to bring her back by completing the seven trials. Thrown into the realm's struggle against the approaching haze and themselves, will Leor, a Purblight and an acquaintance of tragedy, use the very power he disdains to accomplish his goals? This is the rewrite of my novel: Condemned; I changed it to past tense and added/ took out some ideas from the original. This is essentially the first draft since I'm writing as I go. Also, there might be or might not be Gore, Sexual, or Traumatizing content. I only put it there for a disclaimer in case I want to add it. I have no set release schedule yet, but I'll try to post once every 2 week. Thanks for your patience.

Winter Fire [ Book 1 ] ✔
On the second jump, Claire's bad leg gave way and she felt herself tumbling forward. A cry of surprise escaped her and Claire was certain she was about to topple off the side of the train. Alek, however, moved quickly, catching her mid-fall and keeping her upright, and alive. Claire lifted her eyes to meet his which were wide with alarm. The expression was fleeting, lasting for only a moment before it was replaced by a frown. "You could have fallen," he said pointedly."I know," Claire breathed, finding her thoughts drifting to the strong arm wrapped around her waist. A flush rose to her cheeks and she was grateful for the biting wind that masked her reaction. "Thank you.""You need to be more careful," he continued, his eyes locked on hers, bright and haunting in the silver glow of the moon overhead."I will," Claire assured him, her heart skipping in her chest.
