《Codex of Shadows》Chapter 11

“Hey guys, I’ve found an elite, there might be a little trouble there though…” Said Max as he appeared before his friends.
“What trouble?” Asked Nick.
“Well that elite is a mage, and Lulu says it is strong enough to wipe us out, and it is also surrounded by 3 more regular kobold guards.”
“You didn’t find any other elite?” Asked Tragic.
“No, I searched for an hour and that’s only elite I ran into, it’s not that far from here and it’s somewhat isolated so it is a nice target for us.”
“That is true, but we can’t ignore the main problem, first creature we kill drops the quest item so we must kill that mage before the guards.” Said Nick.
“What if we left Mark and Tragic to confuse guards while we kill that mage.” Said Ted.
“Well that could work, but who would tank that mage for us then?” Asked Einstein.
“Maybe we won’t need a tank for it?”
“That’s true, if we can kill it before finishes casting spell then we won’t need a tank, but the problem is can we kill it before it casts a spell, we don’t even know what kind of spells it has and how long are it’s casting times for those spells.” Explained Nick.
“Lulu come out for a second I want to ask you something.” Said Max.
“What is it now, can’t you just let me sleep?” Grumbled Lulu when she appeared on Max’s shoulder.
“Do I need a spell to stop spell casting of my target?” Asked Max.
“Oh I see.” Mumbled Nick with a slight smile.
“Normally you do, but this is a starting dungeon and everything and everyone is low leveled so they need an incantation for a spell, normally you need a counter spell to stop cast time of a spell, but if you can stop it from finishing incantation of a spell you can interrupt it’s spell casting.” Explained Lulu. “If that’s all I’m going back to sleep.” With a soft yawn Lulu disappeared again.

“Okay you heard her, problem solved, only thing we have to do is to gag that kobold before it finishes the spell.” Said Nick. “Okay, Max lead the way, we will continue according to plan, Ted you will join us in this fight, you are free to shoot.”
“Was about damn time, bored the shit out of me already.” Complained Ted.
“Just try not to shoot us, will you bro?” Joked Max.
“Don’t stand in front of me and I won’t, hey I went shooting with you couple of times, my aim isn’t that bad at all.”
“Just focus, don’t rush, this is a live target and we will also be there so be extra careful.”
“Don’t worry bro, did I ever disappoint you?” Said Ted with a proud smile on his face.
“Like a dozen of times this year already…” Answered Max with everyone bursting out laughing loudly.
“Some fine brothers you are, badmouthing me on every corner…” Complained Ted.
“Jokes aside, Ted I know we tease you sometimes but that’s no reason to shoot us “accidently” you know.” Said Nick.
“Oh come on, do you trust me that little?”
“Oh we trust you, we just don’t trust that aim of yours.” Joked Mark.
“If you were my target there would be no way in hell I could miss.” Answered teasingly Ted.
“You calling me gorilla again, want a fight bro?” Asked Mark as he pulled his sleeves up.
“Monkey calm down, I didn’t say anything, you mentioned gorillas first, I’ll get you a banana later so just calm down.”
“You damn fatso, stop running I’ll beat you black and blue once I catch you.” Growled Mark as he chased Ted around.
“Okay guys, enough messing around, we have a quest to get and cave to leave, let’s push the tempo before someone finishes before us.” Said Nick.

“There they are guys, okay let’s do it the way we talked about it, Mark and Tragic you guys go first, as soon as that mage starts casting I will be hot on it’s back, once it turns around toward me rain over it with everything you have, Ted don’t shoot me please.” Said Max as he disappeared from the sight again.
“You heard him guys, let’s get this party started then.” Said Mark before he started charging toward kobold guards slamming his shoulder right into first guard with Tragic running behind him.
Immediately after that Max appeared behind kobold mage stabbing it in its back. Kobold mage angrily turned around and started chanting a spell with mass of fire forming in its left hand but Max quickly countered that with a swift knee kick at its mouth shattering its teeth.
“Nice job bro, now let me finish it off!” Yelled Ted as he opened fire at kobold mage, but most of his shots missed with couple of them landing on its back and one lucky shot to its head. With that shot kobold mage tumbled down on the ground, with a leather pouch appearing above its corpse.
“Nice job Ted, it went faster then I thought, how much damage did you do to it?” Said Nick while fighting his new target.
“Around 50 per shot with that last shot doing a little bit more than 200, damn this guns are awesome.” Answered Ted.
“What’s not awesome is your aiming, you almost shot me bro, and you emptied whole clip of that colt!” Yelled angrily Max.
“That enough, focus on finishing this fight!” Yelled in response Nick as he decapitated his kobold guard.
Soon afterwards last kobold fell to the ground and the group started cheering.

“Everyone quickly check your new loot quickly, we will be leaving this place in less than 2 minutes, we don’t know where we will be sent out so prepare for fight!” Yelled Nick.
