《The Raiser of Queens》Inter-Chapter - An Old Shepherd

[… The old man was sitting on a simple chair. Many of his children were playing and singing all around him, blissfully and grinning in their innocence. Beautiful children with tiny white wings and golden halos hovering their beautiful hair. But the elder's mind was far from this place... It wandered to his most ancient memory, the memory of his first life...

It was a harsh time. Mankind just barely learned how to use fire and weapons. One tribe stood above all of the rest, it was a tribe that learned how to hunt in the night and that learned how to pray in order to get fire or blessing during the fights, the tribe was being called Noctumai, children of night. The man that led this tribe was a very young man, despite what one would think, the others called him Ravahn, Raven, because he was smarter than his age seemed and the night belonged to him, just like it belongs to an eerie crow. The Noctumai were a force to be reckoned with, any tribe that stood up against them fell into disgrace and was either obliterated or assimilated into their own. Ravahn was a keen leader, he would accept those that could offer what his tribe did not have, assimilating their knowledge and their ways into his own, and when there was nothing to offer, he would simply obliterate his enemy, without mercy.

The old man was leader of his own tribe. It was an average group, there were just as many elders as there were young ones, one would say that would be disadvantageous, but the elder could not leave his own brothers and sisters, while he stood at the final moments of his life. But because they weren't a noticeable group the Noctumai never deemed it necessary to help them and supply them with fire. There was no advantage in that alliance. Still, the elder's kin strived and struggled to survive, stubbornly not accepting they were being thinned out.

The elder had a son. A young and brave warrior, that was too brave for his own good. Frustrated for being left out, the young warrior rallied his brothers and sisters and decided they would take the fire that rightfully belong to them by force. The elder desperately tried to contain his son. The Noctumai had better weapons, were better satiated in both food and water, and to top of it all, they even began taming beasts! But the rage of his son was not quenchable... And so he left to war...

The elder could do nothing as he found the body of his son, left to die, in an agonizing and slow manner, with a sharp blade left right in front of his face. His eyes were already empty and dull, but his chest still moved, very slightly. He was still alive... The elder chest stung with pain and remorse. He promised himself he would never forget this, he promised himself there would be justice. He was too old to wish for revenge, but he could imagine a path where this would never have happened. A world where men and women did not wage war for food, water or fire. A world where everyone would love each other, like brother and sister. A world where he would show and teach the way for anyone who wished for his help, and he would punished those that are guilty too... Oh, and they will be punished...

Standing on his feet with the help of his rod. The elder man looked to the skies and saw a tiny dove passing by, when it stopped in the branch of a tree, it was stroke down by a black-winged creature, blood seeping from it's recently slit throat. The raven started bickering on the wound, eating slowly. The man sighed at this sight, and only hoped for when the time would come that nothing of that sorts would have to happen ever again...

'None of my children will have to suffer... Never again... You will be punished for this, Ravhan, in time you will pay for this... Punishment will come for those that are guilty, and those that are not will be protected in my herd...'

Time passed and that elder tribe vanished, forgotten and left behind, they died. But the elder one reincarnated, over and over again. And every life he would dream of this, and remember, and his will would be furthermore fortified. By every life, he gathered believers. By every life he gathered faith around him. He preached his ways, he preached what he thought was right. Many pursued him for this. He was cast out numberous times. But he did not falter. Until... Finally he arose. And many of his believers with him as well. He was finally a God, and now he could find that merciless hunter's soul and finally punish him... But, what he found...

He found out that he became a God as well. In fact a far more powerful God than the Elder could have ever been... What was he to do now. He was nothing but an ant compared to that ancient and savage god... So, the elder one decided to seek allies, there's bound to be someone who did not like that god, just like him.

One by one, he found them. One by one he convinced them. Some other gods tried to stop his plans, but the elder god was becoming more and more powerful as his faith started spreading throughout the world, once those that pursued and hunted him started praising and praying to him. He grieved on this, but he couldn't let himself be noticed, so he waged those other gods down. He too was a force to be reckoned with, now. Those that disagreed kept themselves away from him, those that agreed would flock into him, into his herd, seeing and deeming him as the only way out from the reign from that Savage...

Now he had allies all around him. But he still didn't have his son... The son that was taken from him on the first life, and the son he never had in any life that followed through. So he decided he would create his son, again.

The other gods told him it was non-sense. No god can create sentient beings, that is impossible. True, they never tried before, especially because that Savage ruler never allowed them to, but there was no god as powerful as the Elder Yahweh now, and with the allies he gathered into his pantheon, he brimmed with almost endless power and knowledge of all sorts. So, together with a various amounts of other gods, he started studying the matter.

And so the First Man was created. Yahweh thought about the name, he couldn't remember the name of his first son, when he realized that the floor crumbled beneath his feet. After all of this... He couldn't remember... But then his heart was warmed by the voice of his creation.

“I am Adam, you're my Father, right?”

The joy that filled his heart was unmeasurable, such was it that he almost forgot what he was trying to accomplish ever since he became a god. But then, that savage finally died and reascended to the Heavens as a new god, yet again. Upon seeing him with even more power, Yahweh remembered himself what happened when that man was allowed to gather power. And so he continued his endeavors to bring that savage down. Until that happened, none in his flock would ever be safe from his dark clutches ...]
