《Those Zombies Again》Chapter 35

He lacked quite a lot until level 20, but after this kill he got to the goal.
Sam chose a fairly convenient place nearby, gathered a pile of wood and lit a healthy fire, after which he cut off a piece of the snake and threw it into the fire. Rough of course, but the snake was huge, so if the test piece burns out the rest will be cooked on coals.
Sitting not far from the fire, Sam began to examine the core of the 2nd type, in fact it was almost no different from the core of the 1st type, except that it was a little bigger. If the 1st type was smaller than the little finger nail, then the 2nd type was only a couple of millimetres larger.
Sam could not interact with the cores in any way, even in country X Sam tried to feed the core to a human, but there were no effects. In general, it will go to the sword again.
The cat began to comb Sam's head with its front paws, while hanging from a tree branch by which it was holding on with its hind paws. Apparently he congratulated Sam on another victory and himself on another delicious meal.
If earlier its size was even smaller than a cat, now it has grown to a size slightly larger than a cat. He had begun to behave rather casually with Sam for a long time.
Sam, in turn, helped the cat to become stronger, at times, if he met a suitable prey, he neutralized it and gave the cat the opportunity to gnaw the prey to death.
After the cat became the 1st type, he apparently instinctively chose some kind of skill that allowed him to transmit his feelings and intentions to other creatures to communicate with Sam, and at the same time he could perceive Sam's feelings in return.

Now he and Sam traveled fully together, and the cat often used Sam instead of a tree and climbed his body like at home. Sam's body was strong enough so he didn't mind at all.
During his wanderings, Sam found various plants, but he barely found any more really useful ones. At least he found one fruit that added one point of strength stat to him.
The only exception was a huge shrub or something like that, it grew to a huge size in a circle of 50 meters and consisted of many branches and vines, moreover, they were covered with sharp thorns and notches.
In the middle of this miracle, three fruits hung, and a small aroma emanated from them, when Sam tried to get to the fruits of the branch, the vines began to close on him, fortunately Sam immediately noticed this and was able to escape out.
It was the first plant that was truly alive, he had never seen plants move at all before. Of course Sam chopped him to pieces and still got to the fruit.
One fetus went to the cat, Sam warned him that the fetus could be dangerous, but the cat readily agreed to be a laboratory rat this time.
The effect was found to be harmless, so Sam soon accepted the fruit. He asked the cat to look after him and he gave him the idea of something like "Protect me cat".
After swallowing fruit, Sam briefly lost consciousness, but when he regained consciousness he felt fine, although he received only one Toughness, he felt noticeably stronger.
The main difference was in appearance, the appearance itself did not change much, except that the skin became rougher, but the effect was significant, even if he thrashed the trees with all the foolishness, he no longer felt severe pain in his hands.

It also became much more difficult to inflict wounds on him, except that his sword could still hurt him, but an ordinary wooden stake could not really pierce his skin.
It was a really magical effect, unfortunately for Sam it was not very suitable because it was the work of his armor, but still Sam was very pleased, the harder it was to kill him, the better.
Obviously, the cat was also happy, if earlier he tried to avoid those who were larger than himself, then after this amplification he behaved more boldly.
Sam hid the last fruit in a ring, if Ashley survives until their next meeting, he will give it to her. Sam had checked many times already and knew what was the case with eating meat or eating fruit. Only the first fruit of one type can give an effect, it is useless to eat them further.
Sam took out a piece of snake from the fire, it looked like a piece of coal, but Sam began to remove the outside with his sword and from the inside brought down a delicious smell of meat.
The cat jumped on Sam's head and began to show affection, as well as convey the feeling of "Protect me cat". Throughout their travels together, Sam never asked the cat for anything.
Just before eating a special fruit, he conveyed this idea to the cat just in case. Since then, the cat has been hooked on this one single request from Sam.
If the cat wanted something, he began to transmit this thought to Sam, as if he saved Sam's life or something like that, and now Sam owes him until death.
Sam could only laugh at this blackmail. He cut meat from the inside of the snake and watched the cat fill its belly. Sam himself was almost sure that everything was in order with the meat, but decided not to rush.

Midthalion Saga
+++Working on new chapters. Share what I've posted with your friends and family! Be sure to build strong bonds with those who are important to you. We only have each other in this world for so long!+++ Can Roderick XXIII gather together and train a party of adventurers to clear out Madeon Caves and bring peace to the wildmarches of Midthalion? Sent from his home monastery in the west to the wildmarches of Midthalion, Roderick the Holy Avenger is devoted to living out his oath to bring the Holy Light to the dark corners of the world. He enlists the help of an old friend, Ulrich Vogelbrandt the dwarf druid, to train and prepare a fighting force capable of defending the west from the evil they both see gathering and growing in the east. Eoroth is an ode to Tolkienesque epic fantasy, Robert E Howard and H.P. Lovecraft's pulp fiction, and Gygaxian Dungeons & Dragons. I like to write about serious topics because I think it's fun. I hope it makes for a fun read. Place: Eoroth, a vast, flat world with many continents set in oceans that reach out and mingle with the Celestial Sea. Our story takes place on the continent of Thalion in the middle, unsettled region called Midthalion. Peoples: Races in Eoroth aren't different species; the species of man is just incredibly diverse, consisting of many known races (and perhaps some unknown). There are no humans in Thalion. Thalion's races include variations of elves, dwarves, halflings (billowits), pierros (clownish men), bergeracs (long-nosed and swarthy men of honour), orcs, trolls, goblins, and hobgobs. The Church: There's one dominant religion in Westhalion. The faith of the elves is an analogue to Roman Catholicism while the dwarves practice an Eastern Orthodox analogue. (Forgive me for not having figured out names yet.) The practitioners worship a triune god (the All-Father, Son-of-All, and Holy Light). There are many powers in heaven, all created by God. These include the Twelve High Thrones, individual, created beings who take on the role of guiding mankind in different aspects, drawing them closer and closer to God. (That should be the essentials. I could write pages on the theology. Comment where something's unclear in the story.) Natural World: There are plants and animals in Eoroth, but the world is also inhabited by spirits called aeons. Aeons are transformative beings; in the wild, they'll change based on whatever is happening nearby. Pollute a pond? Expect to see toxic toad-men running around. Leave a bunch of dead bodies strewn across a battlefield? Expect the place to become haunted with ghouls and ghasts. Druids are important for making sure that the aeons are pacified; that their needs are met so that they don't become rampaging monsters. Where the wilderness becomes overgrown, so too do the aeons. Aeons and People: Long ago, men learned how to trap aeons in stone tablets and use them for war. Now, anyone can capture an aeon into a special staff made by a druid. Men train, raise, and bond with these aeons. Druids often build entire ranches devoted to raising healthy aeons as allies and companions. Aeons are divided into twelve known families, and the church sees these as corresponding with the Twelve Thrones in Heaven. Direction: My goal is to get the story to one million words by June next year. I have tons of content in mind for the world. I want to release novels set in different ages of the world depicting different historical events. I hope to expand the setting into a tabletop role-playing game as well as a series of old-school JRPGs. But, it all begins with writing some stories and publishing my novels.
