《Those Zombies Again》Chapter 10

Somehow, having protected the side from which he felt danger with a shield, he started the car and rushed home.
No more signals were received, either the man with the weapon did not want to waste the bullets, or he decided that the area was already cleared, and there would be enough food in the supermarket, or maybe seeing Sam's reaction, he himself got scared in earnest and hid.
Sam did not know what happened, but in any case he was not going to check, only an idiot would climb into someone else's house to look for an armed man, so far, Sam was not strong enough for this.
On the way back, he saw two people with something like clubs, who were waving at him, of course, he ignored them and drove past without reducing speed. The funny thing was that there were very few cars, at least the roads were relatively free.
Which, in principle, is not surprising, given that it all started at 6 in the morning, if not earlier, at that time very few people were driving, but after that, not many were able to get to the cars.
Having approached his entrance, Sam began to transfer everything inside, he felt many eyes on himself, but he ignored it. When he saw Donna, he handed her a large bag and asked her to share with the others. During this time, Sam and Donna got along more and less, if you can call it that.
She even offered to cook him food, of course Sam refused, the likelihood that she wants to poison him is almost zero. The likelihood that she has something to poison him, like cyanide, is even lower. There was no Internet and, in theory, no one could find out about the benefits of killing people without checking this moment personally. But still, Sam decided not to risk it.

After realizing that the 10th level is quite achievable, Sam was even more fired up with the desire to try his best, during this time he has already killed more than a thousand zombies, with each kill, he is getting better at controlling his body and weapon.
The effectiveness and speed of extermination gradually increased. Of course, besides him, other people began to do the same, but there were not many of them, and he had not yet seen anyone remarkable enough.
Which, again, is logical, because he essentially did not leave his area of residence, only gradually expanding his radius of activity.
After another couple of weeks of active hunting, Sam managed to get to the 8th level, raising his agility to 16, his running speed and reaction increased greatly.
Sam tried almost never to show all his strength and speed unnecessarily, firstly because endurance was not enough for a long time at such an expense, and secondly because of the surrounding eyes.
People gradually got used to the new world, some died trying, others slowly became stronger and more confident. Various groups began to form, until they were too large, since except for Sam, no one stood out, and he himself, of course, always hunted alone.
The relationships in such groups were different, but many began to have their own leaders, sixes and the like, in general, signs of hierarchy appeared.
If at first the information that Sam killed a person scared someone, then over time this factor ceased to play a role, Sam suspected that many people themselves killed others in one way or another.
Gradually, some groups increasingly paid attention to Sam and clearly not in a good way. Sam understood this perfectly, but continued to maintain a balance as long as possible, soon he would either have to kill people or leave. Well it could all be just his delirium. But better safe than sorry.

But the question is where to go? The nearest town was almost 100 kilometres away, and in any case, wherever he went, he doubted that people were different anywhere.
Alternatively, He could find a house somewhere on the outskirts of the city and there were such places, but he didn't know if he could hunt effectively enough.
There were also rumors that there was a camp in the center of the city, many people left trying to get to him, Donna also suggested that he go, but he naturally refused, she already understood his closed and unsociable nature, so she didn't really hope.
Getting to the city center is not so difficult with a car, so Donna and the others from Sam's entrance left not so long ago in search of a better life.
Sam was so careful that he even avoided the supermarket where he last sensed danger.
After pondering the situation a little, Sam decided that it would be better to stay and try to raise the 10th level as soon as possible, which means he had to strike first, there was no point in waiting for someone from the locals to take the initiative and prepare an ambush for him.
Of course, all of Sam's arguments could only have been his imagination, but either way, as usual, Sam didn't care.
He continued to hunt as usual until, after a couple of days, he had the right opportunity. He ran into one of the groups when they were cleaning the neighborhood of a store, this group consisted of 6 people, four men and two women.

This Used to be About Dungeons
This Used to be About Dungeons is a comfy slice-of-life adventuring story that occasionally features dungeons. Updates Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Mostly it's about walking in the woods with a friend, looking for mushrooms to put in your soup, or haggling with the guy selling squash, or taking care of a neglected garden. It's putting some jam on shortbread biscuits. And yes, sometimes you go down into the dungeons with your friends, and you kill monsters there, or disarm traps, but when you come out, you realize you've found the perfect magic item to give to one of the local kids that helped you out when your cat was sick. Look, the dungeons are always going to be there, and sometimes you need to make a journey to one of the Spirit Gates, or make a pilgrimage with the local Cleric of Symmetry to a holy shrine. Your tour through the local dungeons can wait. You'll have rivalries with other groups, and find some dungeon eggs that need to be carefully incubated in case they turn out to be something valuable, and help a friend to build a fishing weir. There's a big world out there, a mostly tame place with lots of magic, and even more to do and see. Join me, won't you?The cover image is Morning Sunlight Effect, Eragny, by Camille Pissarro.
