《Glass Cannon》Ch. 2- The 3 Week Grind (1)

Tick tock goes the clock...
It took me a moment to comprehend what had just happened but I quickly came back to my senses and read the message box displayed before me.
Some things really catched my eye. First was the 150% boost in attack power, agility and speed. Daym! I smell some Op-ness here. And that legendary item too! I quickly open my inventory to identify it.
ts:
Identification Failed. "Identify" skill too low. LV Requirements Met: Skill "Identify" learned.
Aah damn it! I need to get this at an identification center as soon as possible. But on the bright side I got the identification skill! That sure is neat but I wonder... isn't it a bit abnormal that it got to LV 1 so quickly? Is the Harmakis that hard to identify? God, I hope not... That'd be just an extra pain in the neck I don't want to deal with.
I'm not even gonna try and weild this beast. Legendary items can change the world.
As for the message I'm not that surprised. I wasn't expecting that sly bastard to let me off the hook so easily... but isn't this a bit too fair-I think as I open my stats menu-I mean this class looks overp...
Character Name: Jack Class: Glass Cannon Title: The Suicidal Fame: 3350 Health: 1000 Mana 1000 Strength 10 Agility 250 Vitality 10[locked] Wisdom 10 Inteligence 10 Speed 2500 Luck 1 Attack 2500 Defence 0 Resistances: Magic RES:25% ; Water RES: 50% DarkMagic RES:5% ;Earth RES 5% Skills: Suicidal Attack ; Stamina Burn.
Iiii take that back. These stats are completely abnormal? WHo the FUCK starts with 2500 ATK and 2500 speed? The window screen said it would boost my stats but 150% not 1500%!?! HMM... It's strange indeed.... or maybe... maybe the class added raw stats and then added them their 150%.
According to my calculations this formula should be correct: {[S(stats) + GC(glass cannon stats)] + (S+GC)150%}.
So if we take for ex. my SPD(speed) stat(which is normally 100) the class added 900 points and then added to it the 150% of [900(GC)+100(S)=1000]. So 1000 + 1500 =2500.
This is just a rough guess of course and I can't assume it's correct but I'll go with it for now.

But what's best about this is that I haven't spent a single skillpoint! It's like having my base stats raised! I haven't spent a single skill point and I'm already all mighty!!
It would be nice if the class wasn't so suicidal though.
Speaking of suicidal, lets examine the skills!...It wasn't like with Harmakis this time. As soon as I clicked the skill name a window popped up.
Suicidal Attack: A skill granted only to the fools that sought out the forbidden class 'Glass Cannon'. A skill granting so much destructive power it rivals even that of gods... but it comes with a cost.
Skill type:Augmentation
Effect:Boosts Attack by 500%. Drains HP to 99% of the original FULL Hp Pool incase it's used with a melee attack. Drains 150% of MP if used with a magic attack.
Stamina Burn:A skill bordering suicidal.Part of the highly forbidden class 'Glass Cannon'.It grands you the speed of the wind but it comes with a great cost.
Skill Type:Augmentation.
Effect:Boosts Agility and Speed by 800%. Burns through Stamina 500% faster than normal.
Well those are some batshit insane skills if I've seem any. The power is immense... but it's a double eged sword. And the 2nd edge is slightly sharper than the first. I mean Suicidal Attack grants me a whopping 15000 Attack damage!!! At level 1!! But it also burns through my HP/MP faster than a 2013 Chevrolet Suburban burns though gas.
This class is insane... literally. I die if someone does as much as sneeze on me! My Defence stat is 0 for fuck sake! UGHHH!!
Oh well... the luck of the damned I guess.
And leaving aside the class the message was very strange too.
I saw it with my own eyes when the internet went apeshit over the delay of this game. But while a lot of people will hate me... some won't.
And I have 3 weeks time. That's not enough time to get ready at all.If he wanted to play it fair he would have given me at least 1 1/2 months time!
So what is he thinking...
"You see Jack I'm still confused over what happened yesterday. I mean why did you choose that class specifically?"
"Would it be enough if I said that I picked it randomly?"I say.
Denis stood there with a "spit it out" look in his face.
"Use you head Denis. Think! Why did I give the hacker, my enemy , the forbidden class with the most destructive power in the game? What will happen when he fights a player after only 3 weeks with so much destructive power?"
A look of enlightenment...
...Dawned on my face....
"Yes Dennis do you finally understand?"I asked with a smile.
"Y,yes. You're planning to make him out..."
...He's planning to mark me ...
"A cheater"
That sly old fox.
"You're brilliant sir!"
"Praise won't get you anywhere. Even though you're pretty adept when it comes to electronics, you're pretty dense about these things."
"That wasn't praise. That was a fact sir."
I snickered."But I have to admit. You're getting better..."
When I eventually enocunter my first enemy player I'll be forced to fight. And after just 3 short weeks of preparations I'm going to wreck him in one swipe.
No one knows anything about this game. It has no tuorial. Nothing is known. What I know comes from my little snoop around their database. And by "little snoop" I mean I tried to steal part of the engine in charge of the AI, physics and Graphics ACCIDENTALLY. It was accidental mind you. I accidentally almost uploaded all the source code in the internet... for free. Hey that thing was so complicated it was taunting. And after 256784 tries at cracking that damn security it felt like payback.
Anyway, using my limited knowledge I know that no one will be able to survive my attack after 3 measly weeks. Not to sound cocky but my punches alone probably generate Wind Pressure if I power them up with Suicidal Attack.
No way anyone can survive my attacks head on. But then again if anybody even touches me I'm dead. High-risk, high-reward.
But noone knows about my class. And what will they think of the hacker who delayed the game? They're gonna think I'm hacking of course. And no one likes a cheater. Medias predicted that half of the people playing this game won't even care about adventures. They just want to live a peaceful life in another world. And a hacker would really spoil the experience. Imgine if he destroyed my works-one would say. Even though I haven't done anything to them hate would spread from person to person until it envelops the community to the point where even those who don't care about me get dragged with the crowd. One bad apple spoils the booth after all. Unfortunately I have no way to avoid this.
For now I should focus on getting stronger, so when the comes when I have to face armies of players I don't die and I'm hopefully able to run away.
I'd been standing there so long thinking I hadn't noticed other players that had just logged in shoot me weird glances. I looked at them. Their movements were wonky, probably getting used to the feel of being in Virtual Reality. It feels weird, like controlling another's body. This was normal for the first time playing however. VR was new to the world and it was still a mystery how Overtech, the company behind MortalCoil, actually created the game.
It was a mystery even to me.
But there's no need to think of that. Thinking too deep into stuff is a pain... Oh talking about pain-I quickly open up my settings and set my pain perceptors to hyper-realistic. This setting gets rid of the pain nullifiers so you feel the pain of(for ex.) getting hit by a rock 100%, unlike the normal 15%. This way I punish myself everytime I get hit so I don't get hit when fighting enemies. I have already deduced that this class is going to be based purely on dodging, given my god awful defence stat. My resistances were pretty shit too. Uhh, maybe I should have chosen half-orc or something. That way I got more STR and SPD... But I'd lose my beautiful face though so that's a no no.
For now I should focus on piling up skills. Training center here I come!
And so the race against the ticking clock begins...
