Closing the book. He slowly stood up and wiped the dust on the table. Turning his head to the calendar. He picked up a pen and marked the seventeenth day in X.
Today was his execution day. October 17, 2058. Giving a long lasting sigh. His tranquil eyes hovered around the bookshelves. There, he saw his collection of xianxia, wuxia novels and miscellaneous items pertaining to different subjects.
Some books had bookmarks on them. He sighed once again. His greatest regret of dying right now was being unable to read those books that he had bookmarked.
Glancing carefully around the white clean room. His calm smile resurfaced. Today, he would now leave this room, this room where he spent almost all of his time acquiring knowledge. He made himself a genius, so much that he had finished the university curriculum at the age of fourteen.
But what use does knowledge have if you don't even have time to use them? Regarding this fact, John could only sigh>
And as usual, he continued his daily routine. Taking a lukewarm shower, cleaning his teeth, and eating his daily breakfast. After he cleaned the only small table inside the room. Thudding footsteps could be heard from the outside. Judging from the way that the footwear sounded. John could deduce that a woman was most likely approaching.
"John, Big Sis will enter now, okay?"
As expected, a feminine voice followed by knocking sounds sounded. John abruptly stood up and undid the locks of the door. There, he saw the petite figure of the woman who accompanied him for the last six years, Michelle Franks.
Currently, she wore a sad emotion on her face as she entered the room and seated on her most favorite seat. The seat near the windows.
"John, I think that you know why I'm here..." MIchelle Franks hoarse voice said.
"Hmm, today is the day right?" John gently smiled, his calm tranquil eyes brightly shone.
"This will be the last day that Big Sis will see you..."
"Hmm." John nodded.
"I was ordered to acquire your last meal preferences..." Michelle bleakly said, though she did not want to press the matters on, she didn't have any choice but to do so.

"Just give me my all time favorite, cranberries and I'll be fine." With a light tone, John slowly stood up and patted his Big Sis' shoulders and gently said.
"Big Sis should move on, I'm a serial killer and according to the human laws, I need to be killed. " His tone carried extreme pressure, but his emotion was as smooth as the lake water. As John said that, Michelle couldn't help it anymore and cried.
"Oh."
She pressed John's visage unto his blossom peaks as cried on John's shoulder, soon, John felt that his shoulder became increasingly wet as time goes by. His deep stoned emotions churned. But John suppressed the feeling to cry. John steeled himself and thought that he must be strong and carry on to the next life.
If reincarnation was true, John would live his next life to the fullest.
After fifteen minutes of crying, Michelle finally felt tired and stopped. She snorted the rumbling mucus inside her nose as she stood up.
"I need to go now, John." Her voice became increasingly bleak than before. But it was clear that she regained her mindset.
"Hmm. " John lightly smiled as he nodded.
With that, Michelle stepped outside the room and walked with heavy footsteps, it was as if she was the condemned one to die, her steps was unwilling to part. But she still understood that everything revolves from one place to another, and that she needs to move on. For the sake of John.
Late in the afternoon, John was still flipping through the pages of the new xianxia novel that he got. He was completely immersed in it that he didn't even notice the passing of time.
After awhile, footsteps once again resounded. There, a desolate visage of Michelle was seen. She was holding a tray with a bowl full of cranberries with her.
John immediately opened the door for her and placed the cranberries on the table, he then wolfed down the cranberries and ate them to his hearts content.
The sour taste of fresh cranberries exploded in his mouth as he stuffed them inside his mouth without holding anything back. Soon, the bowl of cranberries were empty. And he led a satisfied sigh as he fell on his bed. Looking at the desolate figure of Michelle before him. John lightly smiled as he said.

"Hey, Big Sis, will you miss me?"
Michelle's absentminded figure shook. Her shoulders trembled as she held her hand on her face, she once again started to cry.
"Of course, Big Sis will miss you, you stupid brat!" Michelle tightly hugged John as he lamented. The two continued on each other's embrace until the scheduled time of execution arrived.
And as expected, a knock sounded on the door as an old man donning a prescription glasses came forward, he held a small black tablet on his hand as he grimly announced.
"Today, John Sixth was found guilty of all twenty crimes! Parricide and nineteen counts of murder! Henceforth, John Sixth is to be publicly executed by the method of long drop hanging, In the city town square!" The old man announced, as deep footsteps came from the outside and two men with huge build came forward.
They tied John with an electronic shackles and placed a black bag on his head. Throughout the whole process of this, Michelle's unwilling cry could be heard. John could only maintain his calm visage as he was brought outside, and shipped towards the city square.
There, the protestants for John's safety and the Childwelfare NGO's appeared with tarpaulins expressing their dismay to the supreme court's decision. They all held candles and prayed for John's soul. They already knew that the supreme court's decision was absolute, and so. They could only do this much for John.
Some people came in groups and wore T shirts with John's figure on it and a written statement below that said. 'I was abused.'
John was amazed, to have this many people support him from his back, John praised them well. John couldn't help but feel the stoned emotions inside him rumble. It was as if he wanted to release all of his grievances into one helpless cry.
But he knew that he needed to be strong, he needed to be strong for all of this people that supported him. To his Big Sis Michelle, and to the surrounding myriads of people praying for his soul. John needed to be strong.
Soon, he was led forward on the podium. There, a priest prayed for the lord to forgive his sins and for him to take John with his caring hands. With this, John sneered inside, he long since became an atheist, he didn't believe the existence of the so called almighty being, God.
If God was there, he wouldn't leave John there alone, silently suffering. He wouldn't let his mother leave John. He wouldn't let anything happen to him.
But no matter how many times he prayed, God didn't even answer.
As the noose was being tied on his neck. John looked above the skies, his visage maintained a calm smile as his tranquil eyes pierced through the sky blue sky. In this moment, John looked like he saw everything that he wanted to see.
Those happy moments with his mother, the blissful moments that he had before everything went downhill. Happy memories flashed in his mind, uncontrollably, tears started to fell down from his eyelids, forming a clear stream of liquid on his cheeks. He glanced at the world around him, the dazzling sun and the marvelous pieces of knowledge that he left. He cleared his throat, suppressed his sadness as he solemnly said. "God, if you're there, you should let Big Sis live a happy life. And to my mother, wherever you are. I will still love you even If I'm in the afterlife. And father, I've long since forgiven you."
"Any last words? " The executioner said.
Gently shaking his head, the executioner finally pulled the lever down, as the trap door on the podium opened, John started to fall on the ground as he maintained a calm smile towards the world the he loved.
Taking one last glance around him. The noose snapped, finally ending John's suffering in this life.

Many Minded
Synopsis: Issa Pyxis, Spacer orphan and illegal heretic, graduated from living on the streets to running with a gang years ago, but now it looks like that’s all going to change. Her inheritance, more specifically who—or what—she is, is catching up with her, and on a planet with the Emperor’s inquisitors slinking around in every shadow, nowhere is safe and no one can be trusted. What will she do? A cyberpunk story about identity, loneliness, covert infiltration, evil dystopias, and much more! Features: - Cyborgs and cyberpunk galore - This is indented to be somewhat “rational” and “hard” Sci-Fi story - Original Fiction however parts of my worldbuilding are inspired by other Sci-Fi stories (duh) Rationale: The future is cool, AIs are kickass, and questions about consciousness are simultaneously existential and yet unanswered. To me, this story is a vehicle for exploring these topics, and also, I wanted to write a story where the protagonist was unafraid of themselves and where their self is more like a git-repo than a meat computer. Disclaimer: This story primarily takes place in what we’d describe as a “cyberpunk dystopia” with some extra technocracy, autocracy, and religious fervor thrown into the mix, so there will be some “grittiness” in this story. Caveat emptor. Also, [insert your favorite boilerplate “views expressed” disclaimer here]. I shouldn’t need to say this, but the main character and other characters in my story can be wrong on occasion (gasp!) and the way they view the world isn’t always objective truth (if such a thing even exists) nor do their views and opinions necessarily reflect the views of me, the author. Sufficiently Advanced
A Novella about magic vs aliens vs science. It's a raucous, campy sci-fi read involving humans gaining magic, a possibly pizza-hating alien empire, the decapitation of the US Federal Government, eldritch abominations, lesbian space witches and some medium-hard science.I wouldn't say it's not serious, but I wouldn't say it's serious. Eh, it's not serious. Wait... it's getting serious.

Sol-int
Logical consciousness before birth ,however impossible with the udder lack of brain cells was quite the gift. One could see it as a curse, stuck alone in a dark and near silent womb for months with little need for rest. Phycological torture for those who couldn't grapple with the thought of such a miraculous time. After all if such awareness was available before the proper Brain matter was grown them how would one gain consciousness? Well there is only one simple and miraculous word to describe it. Magic. Whether it was a highly organized magic system, a chaotic mash of dark arts, or some divine intervention it could be considered to be magic non the less. And magic? Well one had plenty of time in the womb to discover and train it. And that was exactly what one would do if they found themselves in such a situation! Thanks to WifuLabs for the cover.
