“Father please hold on! The healers are on their way!”
“It’s ok Frey. Just know that we are a family of mages not merchants. We were stripped of our mages title before you were born, when I was around your age.” Gorfon coughed out.
“Ask your… your mother about the rest, and let me rest.” Gorfon slowly closed his eyes.
“Father! Don’t, this magic I’ve practiced! It’s brought the truth right? You didn’t kill your father.” Gorfon’s hand slid down to the floor.
“Awwhhh!” Frey yelled out.
“eh” White musical notes swirled around Gorfon’s body. Gorfon’s eyes opened. His wounds started to close.
“heh I’m feeling all better.” Cerina got up, and squatted down beside Frey and Gorfon.
“Kinda weird way we met but I’m Cerina Herlintin pupil of Merlin of Merian.” Cerina extended her arm on top of her knee. Frey reluctantly shook her hand, and introduced himself, and his father.
“You know we aren’t in a Merian controlled city, we are in a Cardigan occupied city, your enemies. You shouldn’t be saying that” Frey hushed his voice.
“I don’t mind. I trust you, you were with Melody.” Cerina got up and stretched her legs and arms.
“I don’t believe it” Gorfon sat up extended and retracting all of his fingers said.
“You better! Melody is great! I didn’t know the extent of her song’s but this is quite amazing! I shouldn’t be surprised she did heal us before.” Cerina trailed off.
“Could you tell us more about you and Melody.” Frey crossed his arms, and glanced off to the side failing to look at Cerina’s face.
“Well I wouldn’t I know her practically, I only met her about a two weeks ago I think.”

“Why don’t we talk about your family over dinner!” Restored Gorfon got up and snugged both of them. Gorfon released them and looked around. “Where is Melody?”
Frey brought his head to the floor. “The last time I saw her she was in the collapsing Marnor Estate…” Gorfon and Frey went silent ...
“Well then she’s somewhere around here!” Cerina picked herself up and started to look around.
“How can you be so sure?” Frey picked his head up.
“Cause I heard her.” Cerina used her hand as a visor while turning her head around.
“When It was all black, and cold I heard her voice sing. So I know she’s around.”
“I heard some singing too.” Gorfon added.
“Melody!” Cerina cupped her hands in a horn shape and called out my name.
Sorry foolish knight. I am far away from you. I’m really glad my song was enough to heal you. And you too Gorfon. I don’t think I’ll be returning there for a while.
“Ok Ergo I’m ready to go.” I stood up from the viewing screen.
“Yes, yes.” Ergo said staring at me intensely.
“Go back to that planet.” Ergo pointed at the viewing screen.
“eh.”
“To think you’re learning more from an underdeveloped species then the classroom of highly developed individuals.”
“Eh!”
“You heard me, now scurry on, I’ll maintain this other planet just enough for you to fix it later.” Ergo go smiled.
“Melody!!” Cerina yelled once more.
“Hi!”
“Awwwww!” Cerina yelped, as I touched the back of her shoulders.
“Melody! Where did you come from?!” A surprised Cerina said.
“You know from somewhere…” I kicked some dirt up.
“That’s Grand!” Gorfon stood up fully restored. He invited me and Cerina back for dinner, he seemed very interested in me.

The Ingress Estate
Jonathon Eucole. Soldier. Scholar. Now an Initiate, the dedication without dedication, he finds himself both prisoner and master of an arcane edifice, the Ingress Estate, which can neither be escaped, nor controlled; only diverted, maintained, and pacified. This is a gothic fantasy story, set in a world in which gods and the afterlife are not only real and known, but were both established in living memory of some of the inhabitants after millennia of arcane warfare with the being who constructed the mundane reality the humans occupy. But this isn't the story of those who colonized the afterlife at the cost of their own humanity, but a somewhat more ordinary man, in somewhat extraordinary circumstances. This is also a LitRPG-lite, which means there's a system of sorts, fragments of which can be observed through Jonathon's eyes. Don't expect level-up screens, or statistics, or indeed numbers much at all, beyond those the inhabitants of the world itself apply to understanding their own reality. It pretty much doesn't matter to the story, I mention it so those who don't want to read LitRPG at all can successfully avoid it here. I don't have any particular plan here, just some ideas inherent in the genre. This is a character concept I toyed with some years ago; an old man, bright of mind but weighed down into apathy, both by his past and his responsibilities for a terrible estate that cannot be left without stewardship. Don't expect any kind of overarching plot or story, because that's really not what this is about. Also don't expect much dialogue. Or character development. Or much of anything, really, because I've planned nothing in the way of an actual book, here. Other relevant information, if you've read this far for some reason: The MC isn't super-powerful to begin with, and probably never will be. He's a veteran with some useful skills, and the insight on how to use them, so can deal with the world's ordinary threats reasonably well, but not too much beyond that. --- Currently on hiatus, as currently the story has a rather poor ratio of effort-to-personal-payoff. I may return to this once I have a clear idea of how to get the stories where I want them. I've started a more standard LitRPG using the same system. But if you like intelligence characters who cleverly min-max their classes, it probably isn't the story for you; it's the story of a rather ordinary guy who winds up in a very similar universe.
