《Kali Yuga》Chapter 92. Zhao Yulang

Huang Wen and Baihu arrived at a circle formed by walls of zombies. Stood right at the center, was Zhao Yulang. In each of eight direction, stood tall the strongest among the zombies commander, each with their own favorite weapon.
They exuded confidence that was no less than Baihu or Huang Wen.
Just with a glance Huang Wen could tell that his pressuring murderous aura wouldn't be able to paralyze these men. Each one of them had such strong will shone out of their eyes. The most interesting figure, of course, was Zhao Yulang who stood calmly, despite all the tension around him.
When Huang Wen and Baihu walked through the entrance, Zhao Yulang began to clap his hand.
He didn't bow to greet Huang Wen, but he smiled amiably, there was no trace of mocking on his face, "Welcome... welcome... we finally meet. I believe you're the one who broke through our siege twice in a row few weeks ago. Am I right? I wish to have a chance to see you in person since then."
Through his spiritual link, Huang Wen let Baihu spoke in his place, "I did break through your army twice. Am I the only one? If I am, then yes. It is me."
Zhao Yulang laughed, "As expected of the hero, you show no fear at all. But don't you think you should? Your hiding skill won't work anymore. I have eight of my strongest here and I think I can handle one of you alone."
Baihu replied, "To be frankly, I don't have time for chit-chat. I come here to borrow some of your zombies and then lead them back to Gutian, to fight for me. If you wish to fight, then let's fight."
Zhao Yulang squinted his eyes, "If we give you zombies, you'll leave us just like that? You're not here to help our enemy?"
Baihu shook his head, "I have no interest at helping them. I want to win the town for myself. I'm happy to see you two fight it out evenly and I know your main objective is Ningde, not this town."
Zhao Yulang surprised to hear that. His expression changed for a split of seconds, but he quickly controlled his expression.
"So you know our plan... How much do you know about us?", asked Zhao Yulang.
"You're the servants of Wang Yuehei who rule in Nanping. You're sent here as a bait for the army in Ningde. Now, that they're here then I'm certain that your main force is invading Ningde and it's your job to hold this army until your main force win their battle.", Baihu calmly replied.
Baihu continued, "I just need ten to twenty thousands of your zombies. I plan to kill one or two of your controller, take their zombies and leave. I know you won't have time to chase me. Once you see me off to Gutian, you won't be bothered to send someone to chase me."
Baihu's answer wiped any hospitality in Zhao Yulang's face.

Zhao Yulang smiled coldly, "But now, we have you trapped. Don't you think, you're asking too much? Can you give me any reasons, why I shouldn't just kill you now?"
Baihu answered, "I admit, last time I broke through your siege. I can kill many of your controller quickly, because I have the skill to hide my presence from your consciousness. But do you really think that's all I got? Now, since it come to this. You have two options. Lend me zombies and I will leave in peace. You have close to a million, losing ten to twenty thousands won't be a big problem. Or..."
"... we can fight. I'll show you what I got.", after a pause, Baihu completed his sentence.
Zhao Yulang stared coldly at Baihu, but Baihu returned his gaze coolly. They stared at each other for quite some time.
Finally Zhao Yulang relented, he clapped his hand and laughed, "You're really tempted me to have a go at you. But you're right, I don't have time for this. I'll give you 10,000 zombies. Take them and leave."
Huang Wen secretly asked Baihu to check, if he could control those 10,000 zombies. Before Huang Wen gave his command, Baihu already prepared to do so. Once Huang Wen asked him, he quickly spread his spiritual sense and indeed found 10,000 zombies free to control.
'He doesn't lie. I sense 10,000 zombies free to control, should I take them?', Baihu asked Huang Wen through their spiritual link.
'Yes, let's do that and get the hell out of here as fast as we could.'. Huang Wen replied.
'If we agree to his offer so easily, won't he suspect us? He might be tempted to attack us, if he think we're just bluffing.', Baihu asked for the second times.
Huang Wen answered, 'He might suspect us for bluffing, but he didn't have the luxury to make that gamble. Besides, he know that we're not part of the army from Ningde. I honestly told him my purpose, he doesn't have any reason to doubt it. Nothing against reasons. Why would I help the army from Ningde, if I have the chance to win the town for myself?'
'So we take his offer?', Baihu wanted to confirm.
'Yes.', Huang Wen confirmed it.
Baihu quickly took the zombies under his control. Huang Wen could see how Zhao Yulang and the other controllers watched them closely. Obviously they doubt that someone other than them, could take control over the zombies. They had that ability through Wang Yuehei's power. They couldn't do it on their own. That was why they were interested to see whether Huang Wen did know how to control the zombies or not.
They couldn't hide their surprise when they sensed someone outside their group, took control over those zombies.
Zhao Yulang was glad, he decided not to make enemy out of Huang Wen. He believed Huang Wen still hid many other skills. Although the truth was, Huang Wen didn't have much confidence at breaking through their ambush. He was prepared to sacrifice Baihu in order to escape.

Once Baihu took control over the 10,000 zombies, Huang Wen and Baihu ran to leave that place without looking back, not even once.
Zhao Yulang watched them left, part of him hated to see them left unharmed. It slighted his pride, to have Huang Wen came, asked for his troops and left, just like that. But Zhao Yulang didn't want to take any risk. He was going to succeed in his mirrion for Wang Yuehei. They didn't have any chance to win the battle against the army from Ningde, but it didn't matter. They had enough men to hold them long enough, until Wang Yuehei won his battle at Ningde.
The last thing he wanted right now, was unpredictable factor.
Ten thousands zombies was a cheap price for that certainty he wished for.
Zhao Yulang turned to the other and coldly said, "Leave them be. Let's return to our position."
Suddenly one of them asked challengingly, "Yulang! Are you afraid of them?"
Zhao Yulang stopped on his track, turned and smirked mockingly, "Hao Ren, Lord Wang Yuehei entrust the position of chief commander to me. If you have problem with my decision, then you can go to him. I will gladly give this position to you if Lord Wang Yuehei command it. Until then... shut your mouth and do what I say."
Without waiting for Hao Ren's reply, Zhao Yulang left that place. He barely kept his anger on check. If Hao Ren wasn't one of his strongest sub ordinates, he probably had him executed then.
Hao Ren was about to shout back, when one of his friend pulled him away. There was no love between Hao Ren and Zhao Yulang. Zhao Yulang was younger than Hao Ren and Hao Ren was expecting Wang Yuehei to give the position as the chief commander to him. They had several arguments in the past and it hurt Hao Ren's pride when Wang Yuehei appointed Zhao Yulang to his current position.

Mean while, Huang Wen and Baihu quickly led those 10,000 zombies toward Gutian town. They couldn't move as fast as they wanted to. Zombies were not known for their speed. Secretly Huang Wen cursed himself for not took it into his calculation when he made the plan.
"Baihu! You kept them march on our destination. I'll go there first.", Huang Wen couldn't waited any longer.
"Master, are you sure?", Baihu worried by Huang Wen's decision and asked.
With grim expression, Huang Wen nodded, "Yes and don't try to argue with me. I know even if I arrived, I won't be able to affect much, without these zombies, but at least by being there I can think of something. I can do something. If you worry about me, just get them there quick."
Baihu obediently nodded, "I understand."
"Good, I'm leaving now.", said Huang Wen before he sped away toward the town.
--- o ---
Back at Gutian town, at one of its border, hidden behind the defensive wall, a unit of 10 soldiers was watching the landscape before them anxiously. Two armored vehicles moved slowly toward them, behind them, many soldiers, hard to count, marched.
"Look there they are! It's just as the captains said, they're going to try to circle on us."
"Damn... where is the reinforcement?"
"Stop panicking. They'll be here."
"Let's shoot them now."
"No, wait. They're still out of the range."
"Who cares? We just have to hold them as long as we could."
"Still, we better make each bullets count. We don't have many."
"Look at their number, no matter what we do, it won't matter! I say, let's scare them a bit. Make them hesitate."
"Shut up coward! I'm the one who lead this unit and I say we'll wait."
"Geez, you just got a promotion and now you act so high and mighty. With two armored vehicles, you really think it does matter how close they're before we shoot them?"
"You might be my childhood friend, but here I'm your commander!"
"Hey stop arguing, look ... they stop!", one of them stopped both friends from arguing and pointed out.
Ten soldiers watched their doom suddenly stopped moving any closer.
--- o ---
Far behind that columns of soldiers, that was led and covered by two armored vehicles. There was Huang Wen, two riffles were on his hands, he held it on its muzzles. Blood dripped from the other end of those riffles.
A few minutes ago, he managed to catch up with Colonel Wen Liang's army.
Huang Wen charged without any warning. He threw fireballs as he charged into their ranks. Killed the nearest two and grabbed their riffles. He shot around, without any discrimination and quickly emptied it magazines. Withou any pause, he then used it like a mace. Whirling around and killed anyone within the range.
The army turned into chaos, since he moved among them, it wasn't easy for them to shoot to retaliate, without harming their own friends. While at the same time, for Huang Wen everyone around him was his enemy.
It took more than a few minutes, before they finally put everything in order. It only happened because those who were not fighting for their life, was running away, sacrificing their comrades in doing so. When Huang Wen the last one, he found himself surrounded by the rest.
"Surrender and I'll let you live. Resist and I'll kill you all.", Huang Wen spoke.
How absurd it was, he was the one who was surrounded by thousands enemies, yet he threatened them. But coming from Huang Wen at that time, it wasn't fel miss placed at all. He was covered in blood and splattered brains of his victims, from head to toe.
Tens maybe even hundred of dead bodies spread around him. He looked like a demon who arise from the dept of hell.
Each of his words was burst with murderous aura that pressured everyone's will.

Kreig Goes Apesh*t (An AU of Returning to No Applause)
An AU of my previous story, Returning to No Applause, that asks the simple question of "What if it all went wrong?" When Kreig first appears on Earth again, after being stranded in another world for 130 years, he finds himself faced with weapons and guns. In a fit of instinct, he accidentally murders one of the many Fighters, causing what can only be described as a massacre to take place. The story that follows this simple premise is completely opposed to the one told before, focusing less on character improvement and more so degradation. It should come as no surprise that I personally recommend reading the OG story before checking this one out, and if you've already done so, great! Swell havin' ya! Any such readers might remember that I mentioned writing a story like this a while back, and... Here we are. This is in no way a continuation or sequel, nor will it be very long. Expect around 15 chapters at most depending on various factors. All and all, the 5-page length will remain the same (apart from chap. 1) and so will the release time, Sundays at 20:30 EST (I think?). All that aside, I sure hope you'll enjoy this! It'll obviously be very different from the OG story, but I personally think that's a good thing. Cheerio!
