《Kali Yuga》Chapter 50. How Pan Wei Answer Zhang Hu's First Move.
Zhang Hu used the fairies to drive zombies toward Feng Jin's position. Feng Jin answered this move by sending a part of his men to defend, while keeping the machine guns that were guarding the bridge.
Feng Jin could keep the number of men he used to guard Jianzhou Bridge at minimum, because as soon as Zhang Hu tried to cross the bridge, his men would be able to focus their attack easily from their safe position. Even Zhang Hu's shield would not be effective once they got closer. Feng Jin's men on the roof top of the building by then would have the angle to shoot at them. They could throw grenades over the shield. Once it happened, it will turn into obstacle for Zhang Hu's men rather than defensive walls.
In any siege battle, the defender always had an upper hand. In this battle Feng Jin had even better leverage since Zhang Hu had little choice to cross the river.
In truth, with the number of his men that more than twice larger than Feng Jin's men, Zhang Hu could successfully cross the bridge but he would receive huge casualties. Something that Zhang Hu didn't want to happen.
That was why, although Feng Jin shocked at Zhang Hu's first move, he didn't pay much attention to it.
Feng Jin thought to himself, 'Hmm..., now that you think you already distract our attention, let see how you are going to cross the bridge.'
Little did he know, the zombies wave wasn't to distract his attention from the bridge. It served for two purpose. First, to give time for his 10,000 men and distraction from their real attack, which will came from the same direction as the zombie's attack. Here Zhang Hu mixed the fake and real attack. It seemed the zombies was the fake attack and the 8,000 men was his real attack, but the truth was the 8,000 men was the fake attack, while the real attack was hidden behind the zombie's attack.
Second, was to force Feng Jin's men to spend their ammunition on the zombies. Zhang Hu's big problem was his lack of ammunition, while Feng Jin had them in abundant.
Even if the 10,000 men successfully sneaked in and attacked, Feng Jin would simply divide his force into two with the majority of his force dealing with that 10,000 men. Just as crossing the bridge, with the difference in their firearms power, although as soon as that 10,000 men could close the distant between them and the 8,000 men crossed the bridge at the same time, they could win the battle, but thousands of them would be killed and heavily injured.
But now, Feng Jin's men on that side will spent their bullet to kill the hundred thousands zombies. Long before they could kill all the zombies, they would have spend all their bullet. With their levels, they would be able to kill all the zombies but then they would lose their advantage against Zhang Hu's 10,000 men.
So Feng Jin's answer was right within Zhang Hu's prediction.
But something was happening now, due to the competition within Feng Jin's force, Pan Wei came up with something unexpected to show everyone that he was better than Feng Jin. The leaders of Feng Jin's force with wide opened eyes as they saw Pan Wei in complete set of armor, carrying a Glaive in one hand and large shield in the other hand.

His build was of a giant, adding the armor, shield and weapon, he truly brought Golliath out of the Bible.
Pan Wei was a wrestler before that event happened, unfortunately he was born when wrestling was in decline. Frustrated, he became more and more violent. It didn't take long before he crossed the line and got problem with the law.
Pan Wei was thrown into jail for breaking a man's arm. There he met some underworld organization's leader and became his henchmen.
Still his thirst for fights wasn't fully quenched. In modern world it was more about high tech crime and white collar crime. His job was to intimidate small fries and protected the big boss. He rarely met anyone who dare to fight against him. Deep inside he was a fighter, a warrior, seeking the pinnacle of power, looking to experience battles and fights in the border of death and life.
He watched MMA fighters on the screen with envy, but taking a wrong turn in life, such path was closed for him now. He was too deep in criminal organization. The changes was like dream came true for Pan Wei, his boss turned into zombies and he killed him with his own hand. He stepped up to the world and found it exciting.
The leaders who watched him from the window was chatting among themselves.
"What's he's going to do?"
"That's Pan Wei right? It look like him."
"Must be Pan Wei, no one here have such build."
'Where did he get all that armors?"
"Look at that armors... what the... isn't he look something out of a movie?"
Feng Jin snorted, "And what he think he's doing? Cosplay?"
Some of his supporter laughed and joined in mocking Pan Wei. While those who supported Pan Wei tried to retort.
Meanwhile on Zhang Hu's side of the river, everyone was dumbfounded too. Suddenly a giant warrior came out of the other end of the bridge and calmly walked toward them.
"Look, what that man think he is doing?"
"Just shoot him.", one of the leader said.
Series of 'bang' were heard as several men shot at Pan Wei but Pan Wei walked as if nothing happened.
"Wait, let him come closer.", one of them said.
"I swear I shot him right on his chest.", one of the shooter said.
"How would you know that?", his friend mocked him.
As they debated about that, another one said, "At least one of us would get him right?"
And the leader said, "Stop talking, just let him get closer and take another shot."
Zhang Hu, Yue Rang, Fan Zheng and Yue Guang watched it from their place.
"He is fully equipped, do you think he will come here to attack us?", Zhang Hu asked.
"Looks like it, perhaps he is a high level like Huang Wen and have protective equipment that give him protection even against firearms.", said Fan Zheng.
Yue Rang frowned and then spoke to one of his staff, "Tell our sniper to take a good aim at him and then report the result to us."
His staff quickly ran out of the tent, while Zhang Hu, Fan Zheng, Yue Rang and Yue Guang waited. Out there, the sniper received the order. They only had two snipers within their 8,000 men, the other 10 were on the 10,000 men units. Soon one by one the snipers shot, each time they shot two rounds. With their scope, the snipers could confirm whether they got a clean shot or not. There was a good reason that firearms change the world of battle. Even the best armor in medieval times, could not stopped a bullet shot from a close range. Otherwise people would still wore those medieval armors and fought with sword and spears.

As the technology improved, the power of guns was multiplied by many times compared to their ancestor. That was why the snipers quite confident that they would be able to take Pan Wei down, but to their amazement, they could confirm from their scope that the bullet was deflected by Pan Wei's armor.
Within minutes this finding was reported back to the command center.
"Impossible ...", Yue Rang was shocked when he heard the news.
Fan Zheng said, "Not too surprising if we think the changes. Now we live in fairy tales, where magic is real."
Yue Guang slightly smiled when he listened to Fan Zheng.
Fan Zheng realized how it might sound and quickly said, "No offense Master Yue Guang, we have live without experiencing spiritual worlds for such a long time."
Yue Guang gently laughed, "Don't worry Master Fan Zheng, the changes just as bewildering for us, as it is for you."
Zhang Hu said, "Hmm... if we let him reached us, he would easily throw everyone out there into chaos and slaughtered our men like a butcher slaughtering pigs."
Yue Rang clenched his fist and turned to his staff, "Let him come closer, once he is in range, ask our best grenade thrower to throw a grenade to him."
The staff ran again to give the instruction while they waited in their tents. Somehow even as he gave the order Yue Rang had the feeling that it wouldn't stop the giant from coming.
Suddenly Fan Zheng got up, "I'll go to the front line, I might not have a full equipped armor, but I got some."
Zhang Hu nodded his head, "Why don't you see if you can get the best armor we have here. It certainly not at the level of his armor but it might prevent the snipers from the other side to shoot at you. They might think that your armor could defend against bullet too."
Fan Zheng smiled, "Yes, Colonel Yue Rang, I'll wait until we try with the grenade before I go to see him face to face."
Yue Rang watched Fan Zheng left the tent in awe, "Hmm... Master Fan Zheng surely have the courage of a tiger."
Zhang Hu nodded his head, "Hmm... he is... but our opponent this time... really I never expect this. How could someone like him work under Feng Jin?"
He didn't know that Pan Wei was trying to take Feng Jin's position.
"Colonel Yue Rang, could you ask someone to gather the best armor for me too?", after some thought Zhang Hu spoke to Yue Rang.
Yue Rang turned to Zhang Hu, "Master Zhang... don't tell me you plan to fight that monster too."
Zhang Hu smiled, "I won't be careless, believe me. But Fan Zheng is my brother, if he is in danger then I can't stay here and watch."
Yue Rang took a deep breath and nodded his head, "I understand."
He turned to his staff and without a word, that man knew what he had to do. Ten minutes later, there was a complete set of armor next to Zhang Hu and his iron spear as well. By that time, Fan Zheng already at the front line, with a complete set of armors and his twin sword.
"How far you can throw the grenade?", Fan Zheng asked the man who was said as the best thrower.
"Hmm... about 40-50 meters?", the man answered.
Fan Zheng nodded his head and thought, 'It won't work... if the distance like that, for people with high agility point, they could close that distant in seconds.'
As Pan Wei getting closer, everyone were fell under his pressure. He seemed grew bigger and bigger. The one who supposed to throw the grenade was frozen on his place until Fan Zheng nudged him.
"I think he is close enough.", said Fan Zheng.
The man turned to Fan Zheng with dumbfounded look, "Huh..? Oh..."
When he realized what just happened, his face reddened and quickly he was going to throw a grenade but Fan Zheng grabbed his hand, "Take a deep breath first. Don't think about anything, calmly focus on him."
That man nodded his head and followed Fan Zheng's instruction. Fan Zheng calmness spread to everyone near him. Few seconds later a grenade was thrown right to Pan Wei. The grenade flew right to Pan Wei but he didn't seem to be afraid of it, he quickly raised his shield to intercept the grenade.
'BOOM !!!'
The sound of explosion reverberated when the grenade hit the shield. Dust were flying everywhere and for a moment they couldn't see how Pan Wei was perfectly fine. Like a hero in some action movie, he walked through the dust.
Now Pan Wei was so frightening and out of world that for Zhang Hu's men, he seemed like he represented death himself. Every one were paralyzed by fear. From the other side of the bridges, Pan Wei's men and supporters shouted and yelled. Their morale was at its highest point, while on Zhang Hu's side, their morale hit the bottom.
Pan Wei lifted his head and roared, "PUNY TURTLES!!! WHO DARE TO FIGHT WITH ME!!! ZHANG HU YOU TWERP!!! HOW LONG ARE YOU GOING TO HIDE YOUR HEAD!!?"
Fan Zheng nodded his head, "Just as expected, I guess its my time."
He stepped forward, lightly jumped over the iron shields and called Pan Wei, "Hey.. brute.. shut your mouth... let's fight."

Ephemeral Cycle
Mature +18[?]------Hiatus notice, I'll be rewriting this story heavily over the coming weeks. It isn't going where I wanted it to, bare with me for awhile. Ideally, a months time, but time will tell.------Andrew Marks, among over a million, 'players,' is forcibly recruited into a game where the reality and fiction interlace. Where the slightest error will spell death. For yourself, for your new found allies, or the world. 'Choices have consequences,' is a lesson the Corporation wishes to remind people. In this new world where many fall each and every day, a man simply tries to avoid it all, yet the world isn't so kind as to let him off so easily.--------Chapters do tend to be on the longer side, well, in comparison to other fictions I've read on this site. Typically anywhere from 2500-4500 words depending on my mood at the time.In addition chapter releases are largely dependent on my mood so it should have at least two chapter released a week, however, I'll be busy for the next bit so it will be subject to change. --------Anyways, please bare in mind this is the first creative writing piece I have created with the exception of a novel I started writing just prior to this one. I'd appreciate any help or guidance you may give me to better my writing. Be it characters, background or setting, I'm quite sure there are a few loopholes. This is intended for a mature audience, viewers discretion is advised. I digress, enjoy, rate, comment, and let me know how it's treating you so far! I'll take any help I can get!
