《Pandora: A New Beginning》Chapter 9: The Materials

As I walked back to the blacksmith I took out the blueprint and gave it a quick scan
Firestorm Shortsword (Blueprint)(Short-Sword)(Green Uncommon - Blue Rare)
A Short-Sword using Flame Essence and Refined Iron as the base materials.
Requirements:
Rookie blacksmith level 10
Materials:
1 Refined Iron
1 Flame Essence
1 Iron
"Crap." looking at the blueprint I realized something important, my blacksmith level isn't high enough...
"Ah well. Nothing I can do about it now." Although I was speaking outside it wasn't to someone in particular, mainly because I didn't really know anyone that is.
I finally arrived in front of the blacksmith, fortunately, that group of users has already left... Or so I thought.
But, unfortunately for me, they hadn't although they finally quietened down, making it easier to deal with, I think they were still waiting for Sordrock to finish forging, if he was forging at that. It's not like I can guarantee that he is forging for them, although he should be, or else I wouldn't have agreed to forge a blue grade equipment within 20 days.
Well, I need to wait until Sordrock is finished to see if he knows where I can get Fire Essence.
...
1 Hour later and Sordrock still hadn't appeared, quickly changing my mind I decided to forge some items to improve my blacksmithing level, if I was able to level up once or twice before he finishes then I'll have saved quite a bit of time, although I had already wasted an hour waiting for nothing.
....
3 Hours later and I had successfully levelled up my forging level twice.

1 more level then I can forge it, but I need to get the materials first. After wiping away the copious amounts of sweat I went to see if Sordrock had finished, I looked around but he wasn't at the front of the shop, neither were the group of users, so I proceeded towards the back of the shop.
I found the group of people, but no Sordrock, so I continued to look around.
After walking into the back forge I noticed that he had just finished forging, I decided to wait until he had handed the equipment over to the others.
After he walked out I heard the shouts of shock and gratification.
"Thanks, O' Great Blacksmith"
"HAVE YOU SEEN THIS WEAPON? IT'S CLEARLY OVERPOWERED."
"Mine."
"No, this is yours. That beast is mine."
Clearly, they had only looked at the stats on the equipment because a minute later the laughter and shouting stopped, instead you could hear the sadness in their voices.
"What level? It's level 10. Are you serious? How do you expect me to wait until level 10 to use it?"
Clearly, they started to get annoyed at the fact that they couldn't use the equipment they had asked for.
Being Sordrock he obviously held a high amount of disdain for them and straight up told them why he had forged them.
"These were only forged for you because my apprentice accepted my impossible task, if you don't want them then I'll take them and give them to my apprentice, after all, getting her hands on decent equipment will be hard for a while, until she improves her blacksmithing skills that is."
They stopped talking and looked towards the blacksmith, they knew that the blacksmith wasn't someone they should anger, but it was all too late, they had acted arrogantly towards someone they shouldn't.
Now that they found out that it was his apprentice that made him forge the items they knew that their guild wouldn't be able to entice the NPC to join as a head blacksmith.
Instead, the leader Dominator Chris targetted the apprentice.
"May we know who your apprentice is? So that we can thank her?"

"Sure, but that depends on whether or not she wants to meet you, I'm not going to force my apprentice to do things she doesn't want to do."
He went back to the forge and wanting to ask me, but he realized that I had overheard everything and just awaited my answer.
"No, I don't want to meet them." I tried to buy his blueprint but he was extremely arrogant. If he wanted to meet me then he would have to beg.
Hearing my answer Sordrock didn't show a face of either happiness or sadness, as if he had expected my answer to be that all along, he walked back to the group of users and told them my answer.
"My apprentice said no." Sordrock was straightforward.
At this point, I started to peak outside the forge to see what kind of expression they had.
Unexpectedly, they didn't say anything and just walked away.
Shortly afterwards I walked to Sordrock and asked him about Fire Essence.
"You can find if you go to Mount Ryfont and fight the fire elementals there."
After he said that I started my way there.

After the End: Serenity
We all want to believe we are heroes of our own story - unless we want to be the villain, of course. At the end of everything, the Final Reaper decided he hadn’t been a hero. Driven by a desire to right the wrongs he was subjected to, he killed everyone who wronged him or his people - which turned out to be everyone that wasn’t killed by someone else first. He'd won - but it was a hollow victory. Eventually, Order’s Voice found a way out. If the only existing being would agree to give up most of his power, the Voice could reset the multiverse to an earlier time with a few minor changes. Of course, the Voice couldn't ask it that way. It could only ask if the Final Reaper was willing to start over from when Earth was first brought into Order. It was an easy decision, and yet it wasn’t. Was he willing to go through eons of pain again to not be alone? Yes. In a heartbeat. Not that his heart beat anymore. Now it would. Perhaps he could even be a hero, this time. When he landed in his old body - more or less - on Earth, the Final Reaper once again became Thomas. He was both and neither. He needed a new name for a new life. Serenity. ------------------------------------------ While this is technically a System Apocalypse story, it's a System Apocalypse that is designed to have a large percentage of the population survive and prosper. There are a lot of problems that come with the appearance of the Voice, and it's entirely possible to lose. Earth has some special opportunities, but also special challenges. The first time around, Earth won the first round and lost the second. Serenity has ten years from when the Voice arrives to prevent that from happening. It will be a group effort; Serenity can't win alone - which is difficult for someone who's been alone for as long as he has. Of course, that's only his second priority. ------------------------------------------- Updates Daily A note on the nonhuman lead tag: He isn't human, and hasn't been human for a very, very long time (or maybe not long at all, depending on how you count it). He still thinks of himself as human, either way. The content warnings are mostly to give me room to write; this fiction is not intended to be edgy, but once in a while a character will swear or someone will get seriously injured. The cover image is a Chandra/Hubble composite image of VV 340 / Arp 302 / UGC 9618. While we're not going to space itself any time soon in the story, people from elsewhere are coming to Earth and Serenity will visit other planets. Plus, I like space imagery.
