《Raimei no Henka》Raimei no Henka Chapter 13

Chapter 13:
I was doubting Mertias’s words, Yuki wasn’t my sister, we had been together ever since I can remember. But at the same time, he had no reason to lie to me. It didn’t add up in my head,
“What do you mean gain her power, explain it all to me. Is she in danger right now.” Looking back I must’ve seemed so childish to both of them, hearing some news and instantly starts panicking. At the same time, I don’t blame myself, well mostly that is.
“Calm down Hayato, sit down and we can talk.” He puts me to sit on Nina’s overly pink bed, at the same time she pushed a walrus plush into my hands. I think I was too focused on what Mertias was about to that I didn’t pay attention to Nina.
He sat down on the chair across from me, his gaze was not turned to me at first, he was looking down, it seemed this was hard for him to talk about all that.
“Back when that meteorite landed on earth, other than people who were directly in contact with it, no one died. All the researchers there left fairly safely, well that is they thought. After the meteor disappeared that is when the first power bearers appeared. At that time there were no ways to stop them. One of these first power bearers was the family that your sister is from. Weirdly, not only did the power awaken in the researcher that was there, but it continued to show up in his entire family. This naturally sparked the interest of the government.”
His voice slowly began to shake more and more during all this, “They began trying to hunt them all, for a few years they were able to avoid them. Their assault on them ended around 10 years ago. That is when they were brought to my ward, where we had to find out what made them special. I still remember their bodies rolling in, all of those poor people. After that day, it was the day I quit.”

The visual disgust that he was feeling was written all over his face, but me being the dumb person I was, I didn’t even wait for him to recollect himself, “But is Yuki safe?”
Mertias didn’t answer directly, he put up two finger, “First , there is the option that she had awakened her power and they are keeping her away so they can pull her to their side. OR Second, she is yet to awaken, so they are keeping her safe until then. I would say that the second option is more likely.”
This set my heart at ease, then I actually looked down to see the walrus plush in my hands.
For a moment there I was so extremely confused, but after that I smiled, “Thank you Mertias, I’m gonna take the first leave myself. And Nina catch.” I simply threw that walrus plush back to her. Slowly exiting the room.
I make my way down the halls, just processing everything that was just told to me, sitting down onto the floor and leaning my back to the cold metal walls. “God dammit, I don’t get any of this at all. Just half a year ago I didn’t have to worry about getting killed at every turn, nor did I have to kill anyone, but now…”
God I can just remember how shit I felt in that moment, not knowing what the way out is, “Ugh do I keep following Mertias, do I go back to being alone or do I just go fucking go die like a dog. That isn’t a way either, I need to find Yuki at least, but even that is damn hard cause I am weak.”
Out of anger I throw Mari’s dagger into the wall, I don’t even know what was coming over me but it just seemed like the right thing to do. I plunged my head into my knees like a little kid being mad.

I then felt a cold metal on my head, “Are you really just gonna throw the dagger that I gave you like that? Well at least you look fine now.” This voice was very familiar yet I didn’t recognize who it was.
Before I even lifted my head, the person sat down next to me and leaned over to my shoulder, when I looked up I saw that it was Mari. Looking back, I have no idea why I smiled when I saw her.
“So what’s got you down like this, I remember you brimming with confidence.” She seemed in an awfully good mood for someone who woke up not so long ago, “What about you then, you rushed to my side when you heard how badly I got beaten.” She punches my arm a bit, “So what, I may have been worried about you a bit.”
“Oh really just a bit, that is why you didn’t leave my side for 2 days and were holding onto my hand while you slept.” Mari turned red when I said that, chatting with her always raised my mood ten fold. “S-sh-shut it you ass. It was only cause it was my shitty brother that put you in that state.”
I simply began laughing, “What are you laughing at, am I funny to you.” She got mad, pouting and turning away from me. After a bit I finally regain my composure, from the side I patted her head, “Thank you for that Mari, I needed that.” I’ll be honest here, I thought the second I would place my hand on her head would be second she would tear it off. But I was wrong.
I looked over at Mari’s expression, she was enjoying it weirdly enough, “Damn what a surprise, I thought you were gonna kill me.”
“Just cause I have a tough outer shell, that doesn’t mean I push away everyone. I only act like this cause that shitty brother of mine forced me to act like that.”
Mari kind of made me wonder, how would’ve Yuki turned out if I hadn’t told her to run, if she was next to me witnessing all those murders I have committed.
“No need for that, since now I am gonna be around here so you will never have to have a hard outer shell, you can show this cute side to more people then.”

The Legend of Fanaura: Cursed
'Hey, need some help there?' An unfamiliar voice echoed through her mind, and she startled, losing her grip on the red phial. It rolled through the grass, away from her.
