《Raimei no Henka》Raimei No Henka Chapter 12

Chapter 12:
I was really glad to see that he openly told me what he wanted from me, it gave me peace knowing I could actually help this whole situation. Standing up I grabbed his hand,
“You can count on me as much as you’d like.” Mertias’s sunken expression went up a bit. He was carrying all of his entire burdens on his own, the others may had helped a bit, but even they didn’t get to understand him.
This gave me some penance to see someone who’d bared the same problems as I did. Ever since I awakened this dammed power, my life kept getting tossed around like a ragdoll. First the fear of being found out, then having to fight my own mother that turned into a Beast, then losing Yuki, so many shit things.
But sulking wouldn’t had ever helped me.
“So where is Nina, I still need to talk to her.” Mertias already began to walk forward, “Follow me.” I quickly caught up to him, “Yeah easier said than done when you just start going without me.” Mertias laughed a bit at me, “For someone with your speed, you are quite slow.”
“Oh frick off.”
We paced over to Nina’s room, which actually wasn’t that hard to find as I thought, mainly cause it was the only one that was decorated.
Looking at Mertias, I knew he could see my pain of seeing something like that, “Head on in, she is most likely still awake.” His gaze told me everything.
I opened the door and was greeted by the pinkest room I had seen up until now, Nina peeks out from the assortment of plushies on her bed. But as she saw that it was me, she practically jumped out of her bed.

“Thank goodness that you are fine.” She began patting me down, I simply patted her head, “Yeah thankfully that guy wasn’t really trying to kill me.” She placed her hand on her chest and let out a deep sigh of relief.
“But there is something we need to talk about.” I sat her down on the bed and sat across her on a… you guessed it a pink chair.
“What seems to be the problem Hayato?”
I had to mentally prepare myself, “Nina, do you remember your father?”
“Of course I do, he is just an idiot that joined the government to hunt power bearers, while even knowing his own daughter held that same power.” It seemed like he never told her the real reason he joined them.
“Well never mind that, I met him not so long ago. I took out his entire platoon, before I was going to kill him, he asked me to live. I wanted to hear him out. He told me he had a family, then showed me a picture of you when you were younger. After that he told me the true reason he joined the government.”
Unlike what I expected, that far she didn’t even waver, she almost had the look I used to carry in school, a look of zero fucks given. Regardless I came about to the main point,
“He joined them due to being pressed with one of two options, let them take you away and experiment on you or he joins their ranks. And as you already know, he chose to join them to protect you. After all that he handed me a classified map, which would’ve led to his death. He told me to tell you this, he loves you but is sorry for what he has done.”

I looked at her, now her eyes filled with tears, she didn’t know anything. Nina grabbed herself into my arms, “How did I hate him for so long, thinking he was just a blood thirsty idiot. But he fought for me this whole time.”
Her tears could be felt through the garments I was wearing, I stroked my hand against her hair, “You had no way of knowing his true motives, it is not your fault.” I have never been so the ideal to share these kind of moments with.
After about I’d say a good 10 minutes of her crying, she was able to compose, thankfully, I didn’t know how much more my clothes could take. “Could you tell me if he told you anything else.”
“He only gave me a map marked with a few locations, as well as some info about my sister.” Nina paused and looked at me with a confused face, “Wait you have a sister?”
I must’ve missed that part in my introduction, “Yeah of course I do, everything I have been doing has been to figure out what happened to her, did Mertias not tell you this?”
That wasn’t ringing any bells to her, Mertias also walked in moments later, “Hayato, are you sure about that?” Even Mertias didn’t know it, that made no sense. “Didn’t you run a background check on me or something?”
“Yes I did, I even looked into your family, your mother only gave birth to one child and has no record of adoption. Wait Hayato, what does your sister look like?”
Weird question but sure I guessed, “She is not very tall, around 160cm, long white hair and blueish gray eyes.” Mertias stands there looking me up and down, “No way in hell, she must be from that family.”
“That family?” I had no idea what he was talking about but it seemed that the two of them understood each other really well.
“There is a family that was one of the first ones to have power awakenings and not only that, they had a family continuing ability of powerful cryokinesis. But they are all supposed to have been hunted down by the government.” Mertias had a really concerned look on his face.
“Hayato do you know anything, anything about her whereabouts?” I shook my head side to side, “ Only two things that I know is that she is with a family backed by the government and that Mari’s brother knows her and has seen her. Why do you ask?”
A sigh a relief hit the room, “Thank goodness, to keep it short, even back when I was a researcher, one of the things that they were obsessed with was learning how to gain that power for their own use.”
