《Nagol: The Skeleton King》05 Revelations of the Undead
Advertisement
I woke up inside of the Dragon's Maw war room. I felt enraged that I had been played with by Coral. I got up from the chair I was placed in and walked outside. Varik was standing guard outside of the war rooms door, I motioned for him to follow. The Red Horde is a phenomenon that accurse when a Rage seethe tree is born.
Thinking about it, the seethe tree would need to be removed before I would feel safe about my standing. Creatures caught by the seethe trees poison would be controlled by it and act like a pack of animals, eventually seethe trees become sentient and begin to attack settlements.
I felt something inside of myself, an image of a sword. It was made of bone... snapping back I focused on my spell -Conjure bone- information pored into my mind. It was still a painful experience to have information thrown into your mind but I thankfully did not revisit the darkness.
-Conjure Bones- T5 (25mp) Conjure enough bones for 200 human skeletons
-Sub Skill- The Skeleton King's boon: Bones/corpses/spirits/undead created by the skeleton king are permanent until destroyed.

I quickened my pace to one of the many buildings inside of the fort. The smithy was old and dusty but it still had a book for swords and armor. looking through the book with exited movements I found a page that had graphs and sketches of the weapons.
Finding a simple long sword I imagined it inside of my head, focusing the image to represent the sword, then I had the bone increase in density. It took me an hour to get the image right, casting conjure bones I had a single sword drop infront of me hitting the ground with a load clang.
The bone resembled the dragon mace's bone that I had seen my grandmother with, the Bone sword cost me 500mp, and a single cast to create. I felt the sword in my hands it was heavy and strong. Taking a rusted sword from its perch I held it up and slashed at it with the bone sword. The rusted iron snapped from the strike and flew off into the wall beside me.
I checked the bone blades edge and found it was mostly unharmed. I knew I could not have every undead minion equipped with this level of blade. I turned and gave the sword to Varik whom held it with reverence. I then went outside of the hut and produced a lesser version of the blade.
I came to the conclusion that the First bone blade was a Rank 4 item, while the lesser were R1-2. R1-3 are normal items while anything above would be considered a masterwork. I had Varik attempt to train with the blade I had given him commanding him to practice certain strikes and forms.
I could produce 100 blades each cast, and since each cast of -Conjure bones- is 25mp I could produced enough weapons for all of my undead. I thought about the coming battle and knew Coral expected me to fail. Feeling giddy I created 40 liches maxing out my C.P. limit I started to level each lich to level 5.

Before the sun could set I had us march to a point of interest. it was outside of the fort and would take several hours to reach. I had gotten 145 liches to level 5. I also produced more undead to fill our ranks, I felt excited and ready for blood. I shook my head in disgust, "Why do I feel so wrong?"
The question was not directed at anyone but I heard a reply "Because Master has not conquered the world." the voice was raspy and filled with strain, I turned to see Varik smiling, I couldn't smile but nodded my head, I was a Holy knight several days ago and was currently a Skeleton leading an army, this sudden revelation in Liches being able to talk meant nothing to me.
With my army of skeletons we marched forward. I attempted to create large Clubs for the Giants and found I could create 25 clubs fit for the giants, while marching forward I would cast my spell and have the giant skeletons pick up their new weapon's. I thought about the orcs and decided to try and make them a larger version of the swords.
I could only create 50 at a time but I quickly had all my skeletons armed and ready for battle, I was thankful for the fact my Liches were clothed with Rank 2 robes and armed with a Rank 2 staffs. The wraiths I conjured moved around or army and scouted the land searching for enemies and insuring we were not ambushed.
The sun set as we reached an abandoned Village with a small earth made wall to protect from monsters. Having the vanguard squad move forward I waited for them to scout the village a small pack of wolves had taken over the settlement but quickly scampered away seeing the undead.
I entered the Village and walked over to its prime location I had wanted to check, several graveyards filled this village. I wondered why the previous skeleton kings did not conscript these corpses to join their legions? I looked around for some clues as to why they were undisturbed but quickly found the answer.
The dead were all children, Hundreds of children berried here. I walked over to a field and plucked several flowers. Returning to the graves I placed the flowers while reading off the names of the children. It was a known fact that children made weak undead and usually fall apart. While I was coming here ready to raise the dead, I felt it was too cruel to destroy the graves of children. My training as a Crusader filled my mind, "To Protect and Serve the innocent..."
Standing I placed the last flower and had my undead leave the village, being undead made it easy to travel at night. I could see in the dark slightly and I occasionally saw a purple light ever now and again. Shooting -Bone Spear- at the light I realized the lights were living things. The creature I hit was a wild boar, one spear was imbedded in its neck while the rest were strewn on the ground.

Getting close to the boar I realized the bone spear was not dispersing like normal magic! Sam taught me magic was the power of your soul, eventually using this soul you would gain more of it. M.P. also known as Magic points was a way to measure ones soul.
The spear was smooth and had three barbed tips, the spear was 6ft long and had a firm handle. Picking up the other four spears I had the Orc skeletons carry them. I pulled the last spear free from the boar and Cast raise dead on it. The boar was soon standing upright.

The boar cost me 1CP without realizing it one of my undead broke free from my control the closest level 50 skeleton started to wonder off with its bone sword. I felt it was not being controlled by me or my Liches but I could control its general direction. having the soul fire from the Human Skeleton imbued into the Boar it fell away leaving behind the bone blade.

Seeing the raise in the boars power I was reminded how week my own creations are I then realized that the previous skeleton kings would create mass amounts of undead minions and use them as actual minions while using their conjured variants to raise their C.P. and M.P.
With this knowledge I continued to hunt more animals, sparsly to insure the ecosystem would survive. I ended up with 25 wild boars 8 wolves and 1 bear.

I now had actual undead and their level ups were insane. If I didn't have this black book I would be completely lost in terms of knowing what did what. I would have assumed the boars were stronger than human skeletons but weaker than orc skeletons. But this assumption was completely off, just one boar might be able to kill my Gaint Skeletons. What would happen if I had real bones of a Giant?
Shaking my head I thought about how terrifying it would be to fight this army. The Order of Light could do it, but the kingdom of Order would be decimated. I would need to increase my max C.P. and M.P. but I would eventually have enough numbers and strength to rival them with equal numbers.
Undead that grew stronger... My grandmothers words held true, I was obviously stronger than the past Skeleton Kings. I was shaking the control coral had over me, and I was starting to feel regret that I had blamed the Kingdome of Order, Margent and Roland came from a fallen nation, killing the three leaders of the order of light would be a massive blow to moral.
With their soldiers returning and my own soldiers falling in battle they could garner a stronger hold in the capital. My thoughts drifted as we marched through the night.
When the sun rose we were climbing a small hill, a normal army would need to rest but the undead had no such complaints. The undead I created seamed content while the undead from actual corpses let out blood lust whenever they saw a living thing. I had to control them to insure they wouldn't slaughter the animals in the area.
When I reached the top of the hill, I was shocked to see a sea of red Roots and Vines. The Seethe tree lay in the distance its blood red leaves dripping with red sap. This was a Class 2 Rage Tree, Seethe Trees are Ranked in Class, Rank 1 are newborn and are quickly taken out by Paladins Crusaders and any other highly skilled personnel.
Rank 2 are the ones that have lived for 200-500 years and are starting to gain some kind of animalistic intelligence. Rank 3 are Intelligent and are seen as Global catastrophes. Each Rank has 3 stages. This Class 2 was at the higher stage 3.
I quickly ordered my wraiths to scout for the Red Horde that would protect it. They found several goblins and Orc's several other animals like Bunnies, Foxes, Boars, Wolves, and the occasional Bear. I was about to order my troops to cut the roots and prepare for a fight when one of my wraiths spotted a horde of Ogres lead by a young wyvern.
This fight was going to take a lot out of me...

Updates Sunday - Tuesday - Thursday![successful participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Rating: This should align pretty closely with your typical MCU movie, so PG-13 for scenes of fantasy violence. There'll be gore and some swearing but not much beyond that. If that changes, I'll warn you. MC: Shaya is analytical, but begins the story emotional and impulsive. She leans towards rationality and uses this to control her demonic impulses to the best of her abilities. She begins the story as a somewhat capable protagonist, but grows in power steadily through hard work and diligence. Fights: ...I like fight scenes. They’re going to be detailed, but I won’t drown you in description of individual hand movements or footwork. I like fights that can be solved like puzzles by the audience, where creative thinking wins the day using tools you know the protagonist has at their disposal.
