《SOUL LAND: DOULUO DALU THE GAME》CHAPTER 19

Yu Xiaogang’s hand was soft and dry, it's grip being very comfortable, imperceptibly bringing me a sense of trust.
Upon entering the academy, I initiated the conversation.
"Thankyou, but sir, you don't look like an academy teacher. "
Grandmaster turned his head to glance at me, asking coolly, "Why?"
"Because, you clearly didn't show any identity token nor are you wearing any kind of uniform"
Grandmaster could not help laughing, and said: “For a six year old child, you are very clever. However, you still guessed half correctly. It's true that I'm not an academy teacher,, but your deduction was wrong. Here, teachers don't have to wear uniforms, only students do.”
“Then you are?”
“I am only a freeloading tenant at this place, that’s all. You and the others alike called me Grandmaster, right? Everyone address me like this. Even to the extent that I have already forgotten my name. On the spirit hall certificate was written that you are called Tang San, right? Tang San, you must understand, the meanings of grandmaster and teacher are entirely different, and hereafter must not address me incorrectly. Unless……”
Saying this, his words slowed, in his eyes glimmered a burning light, “Unless you are genuinely willing to make me your teacher.”
Forgotten your own name? It seems you don't wish to reveal your real name - Yu Xiaogang. But that's fine, I'll address you as Grandmaster from now on.
My lips curled up as I replied," Show me your qualifications to become my teacher. "
Yu Xiaogang again squeezed out a trace of that unsightly smiling expression,"Good, you really are a clever child.”
“Naturally gifted, and also this clever. It seems even I must persistently try again. How should I say this? You are the third person to have twin martial soul in these last hundred years.”
The smile on my lips became bigger as I judged and deduced," Knowledgeable, and also this clever. After seeing the certificate from spirit hall, you clearly understood that having a thrash martial soul like the blue silver spirit, I couldn't possible have innate full soul power. The only other possibility, you think is a second martial soul. An incredible powerful martial soul which was capable of giving me innate full soul power. Am I right, Grandmaster? "

Grandmaster was clearly dumbfounded, hearing this. In his eyes, I could see excitement and panic, “It is precisely because of the certificate. Perhaps another person looking at this certificate could not find the flaw, but if I were to also not see it, then I should not be called Grandmaster.”
“I have investigated six hundred forty seven people with blue silver grass spirits. Among them were sixteen with spirit power, so the odds are less than three in a hundred. And even these sixteen people possessing soul power did not have soul power ability exceeding the first rank, and yet your innate full soul power is of the tenth rank. According to my research in the first of the ten great core soul competencies, innate soul power size is in direct ratio with the quality of the spirit. Blue silver grass is obviously unable to measure up, therefore I concluded that you have another martial soul, and also it had to be extraordinarily powerful martial soul.”
But I argued,“What about exceptions?”
Grandmaster nodded seriously, and said:“That’s right, everything has exceptions, but your martial soul is blue silver grass, therefore you clearly are not that exception. In the last hundred years in Heaven Dou Empire and Star Luo Empire, although twin martial soul have only appeared twice, innate full soul power has appeared nineteen times. I have carefully studied each of those spirits, and each of them were formidable. The youngest one has now already reached the soul grandmaster level. Other than fourteen who inherited formidable spirits from clan blood lineage, there were five exceptions.”
“They did not come from a privileged background, but also possessed innate full spirit power. And this kind of unexpected existence is exactly what is called mutated martial soul. On the basis of my many years of research in mutated martial soul, blue silver grass spirit has never produced a mutation. And your blue silver grass spirit is also an ordinary blue silver grass, therefore, I can be completely confident that my judgment is correct.”
Even though I knew what mutated martial soul was, I still asked so that Grandmaster could "teach" me.
Grandmaster patiently explained, “I earlier mentioned the issues of how spirits are inherited. A person’s spirit has a direct relationship with their parents’ spirits, and under normal circumstances the spirit is inherited from either the father or mother’s side. This is family pattern spirit inheritance. Among them are a few exceptions and these are what are called mutated martial soul. Same as the source parent’s spirit, but because there is a certain variation between the father and mother’s spirits, inheritance of one or the other spirits can produce a mutation, bringing about a new kind of spirit. Mutation of martial souls can have formidable variations, and even appear with innate full spirit power. But the overwhelming majority of mutated martial soul only become small and weak. Mutated martial soul are like the result of inbreeding: the possibility of retardation is very big, but there is also the possibility of producing an exceptional spirit.”

From the start, when I initiated the conversation, till now, I sucessfully guided the conversation to the climax. Now all I had to do was make Grandmaster accept me as his discipline.
Without waiting for the Grandmaster to continue, I was on my one knee while my second pointed towards the sky, cupping my hands and slightly bowing, I said, "Teacher, you have the qualification to my master. Forgive me, but I have never kowtowed to anyone, not even my parents, only to my god. This is the first time, I have ever even bowed to someone. Teacher, will you accept me as your discipline?"
Grandmaster smiled a very satisfied smile, stooping to pull me to back up, "Fool, who is asking you to kowtow? This is courtesy only for the emperor and your parents. You haven't even kowtowed to your parents, how could I even ask you to do it?"
Douluo Continent customs are of course not the same as circumstances on earth. On Earth, I have kowtowed only infront pf my believer. Parents were different, but how could I kowtow infront of a measly Emperor?Standing still, I bent over so that my fingertips reached my master's feet. Grandmaster quickly took a step back, "Tang San, what are you doing?"
I replied innocently, "I don't understand the duoluo dalu customs difference between a teacher and a master. For me, whether you are my teacher or master, I'll be always your discipline. If you wish to make me your discipline, please put your hand on my head to give me your blessings. "
Grandmaster was moved to the core. Never had someone asked him to give his blessings. Looking at me, he took a step and his hands ran through my head. I put the fingertips that touched his feet on my eyes and over the head as a sign of respect. This was the standard greeting one made to elders, on earth."Master, since you accept me as your discipline, you must also accept my guru-dakshina."
"Guru-dakshina, what's that?"
"Guru means a teacher, or a master. Master, whenever we take anything from anyone we become indebted towards that person. For example when we take birth from our parents, we have become indebted towards them. Similarly, when we receive teachings from our Master, we become indebted towards them. Whatever debt we incur, we must repay it. This repayment of the debt of knowledge which we receive from our Guru is called Gurudakshina."
"Master, when you feel that you have got nothing more, to teach me, you must ask me for my guru-dakshina or else, how could I ever repay you for what you will teach me?"
Seeing my sincerity, and hearing my confidence, Grandmaster's eyes were moist, "Good, good, it appears that I have not chosen incorrectly.”
"But master, I just have one condition: I'm a vegetarian. I don't eat any type of meat, sae food or any living organisms in general."
“Let’s go, I will bring you to report to the dean’s office. As for your food requirement, I'll talk about this to the dean.”
Even though we had not met for long, but the Grandmaster already thought he had a general understanding of me. This is called ‘one tiny clue reveals the general trend’ where small details determine the success or failure. But in essence he only saw, what I wanted him to see. My eyes shone with ambition as my lips turned up, my face having the smile of a devil, "Yes, I am such a morally zealous boy".

This is my first story to ever be posted. As I am an amateur writer, there shall be mistakes. More so with the fact that English is not my first language. This story is a re-write, and its original version was a request by a dear friend of mine. Though hopefully this version would be far better.. As the original version was a very cringe worthy thing. Many thanks to certain friends that have convinced me to post this. I shall do my best to at least update frequently, without sacrificing the.. quality of chapters. Tags will be added as the story goes on. || Disclaimer: Much of the chapters before Chapter Twelve are of poorer quality in terms of Grammar. So do forgive me for them, by Chapter Twelve and beyond however, the quality of the chapters should have had improved. I'm hopefully gonna fix most of the earlier chapters when I hit Chapter Twenty or Thirty.

A Fragmented Mind
"Hi there. My name is Richard Maddox, but my — admittedly nonexistent — friends call me Rick. I live in a world of superheroes and villains. A world filled with magic and physics-defying powers, and in this world, I'm just an ordinary, completely average 17-year-old boy. My imaginary friends, however, are as far from average as you get. You think you're good at deluding yourself? Well, stand back, because it's time for a master to show you his craft. Welcome to my life, the life of a madman." This story was originally inspired by the 'Legion' novella series written by Brandon Sanderson. If you've read those books and liked them, it might be worth giving this a read. The same goes if you haven't read them either, I guess. (Currently re-writing earlier chapters)
