《Blinker》Chapter 4: Dungeon Master

I entered the slime room again. I held my spear in my left hand and a rock in my right.
“Whew, I hope this works.”
I threw the rock randomly at a slime nearby and that enraged it and it charged at me.
I quickly ran away from it but not too fast so as to give it some false hope of catching me.
When I exited the room I made sure to stay in front of the entrance and sure enough, the slime exited the room and chased after me.
I ran towards the snake pit and stopped right in front of it. The slime soon reached me and it leapt towards me, aiming for my chest. I was nimbly dodged and it fell straight into the snake pit.
“Ha ha! Got’em!”
The slime seemed to have noticed that it fell into the trap so it attempted to jump high enough to escape but unfortunately for it, it couldn’t and was stuck there.
Now I grabbed some rocks that were lying around and threw them at the slime. These rocks weren’t as big as the rocks that I
used to crush the snakes and were easier to throw and I had more accuracy with them.
I missed a few times but every time a rock entered the slime it got slower and heavier which made it an easier target for me. Soon its entire body was full of rocks and it couldn’t even move. I jumped down into the snake pit which was filled with the bodies of dead snakes with spear in hand.
The snake pit was only about two meters deep so I was sure that I would be able to pull myself out of it.
I cautiously walked towards the slime. I poked it with my spear and it just jiggled a little and made no response. This time I stuck my spear deep into its body and found its core and stabbed it with the spear.

The slime stopped moving and all of the thick jello-like liquid (which was its body) that was holding all the rocks inside just splashed into the ground and disappeared. The rocks scattered onto the ground and there were no signs of a slime ever being there except for the ground being wet.
This entire process took roughly five minutes from the chasing to the killing. I jumped up and lifted myself from the edge of the pit and got out and headed back into the slime room.
‘Sigh… this is gonna take forever.’ I thought as I saw the amount of slimes inside of the room.
The process was repeated dozens of times I lost count. But it was not without gains.
By the 10th slime I got pretty good at throwing rocks. Around the 15th slime I leveled up to level five and got three stat points but I didn’t spend them and wanted to use them after I finished off all of the slimes.
After the 40th slime died, a notification came up saying that I learned the [Throw] skill. Ecstatic I opened up its description.
[Throw ☆]
[Because of you increased accuracy in throwing you now do increased damage whenever you throw a projectile]
‘That’s it? That’s all I get for throwing rocks for over an hour?’
I mean I was kind happy that I got a skill but…. It was kinda lame… It had one star… so I’m assuming that this is the lowest tier of skill or it is extremely common.
Anyway, I think it was about 56 slimes that I got rid of and by the end of that I leveled up again, which made me level six.
Name: Rane Coult
Title: Snake Slayer
Level: 6
HP: 20
Strength: 8 Agility: 10 +1

Dexterity: 4 Stamina: 7.5
Intelligence: 5+1 Luck: 3
Wisdom: 1
Skills: N/A
Unallocated Points: 6
This time I put in three points into stamina and two points into strength and one point into dexterity. This made my stats looks like this:
Name: Rane Coult
Title: Snake Slayer
Level: 6
HP: 20
Strength: 10 Agility: 10 +1
Dexterity: 5 Stamina: 10.5
Intelligence: 5+1 Luck: 3
Wisdom: 1
Skills: N/A
I am putting in my stat points into physical stuff rather than mental because this will make me more likely to survive in the moment.
I followed the path that led outside of the slime room and I found a treasure chest.
Excited, I quickly ran towards the chest and opened. It surprisingly didn’t have any locks and I opened with ease.
All that was inside of the chest was an iron knife that looked to be expertly crafted, a small book with extraordinary detail, and a small note that was written with excellent handwriting.
I first read the small note.
Dear Adventurer,
Congratulations and defeating the first floor!
I am the Dungeon Master. Because you are the first adventurer to visit my dungeon, I am naturally quite excited. You have been extremely entertaining and have showed great ingenuity so I am gifting you a skillbook.
Here’s a tip. You can leave the dungeon after you complete the third floor. I look forward to how you progress.
Also, if you can do me a favor. After you leave, (If you can leave LOL) Inform the world of my existence so that I have some more people to play around with. I have been incredibly bored these past 57 years because no one has been visiting my dungeon.
Sincerely,
Dungeon Master.
Well… that was interesting… so I’m being watch by some pedophile that has been jerking off in his room waiting for people to kill in his dungeon for the past 57 years… and I’m the first? Woohoo… I’m shouting for joy.
Anyway… I guess I’m thankful for the dungeon master for giving me this skill book. I’m pretty sure these are quite rare.
Now, I’m just hoping that this skill isn’t trash.
I opened the skill book and a notification came up.
[Would you like to learn the skill [Blink ☆☆☆☆]?]

Journeys in the Fairworld: The Gatekeeper
Lindsey Fluger was only slightly past eighteen. There was nothing particularly special about her, save that she happened to be the right person at the right time. When Lindsey is asked to join an expedition to another world she makes the mistake of saying yes, plunging herself into a sea of perilous adventure and dark intrigue. Journeys in the Fairworld is a fantasy anthology series set in The Fairworld, a magical realm existing in parallel with our own world which is governed by a group elfin beings known only as “The Good Folk”. These mysterious entities work in secret to keep the peace between the myriad of peoples and nations which dwell in The Fairworld. Complex relationships and bitter rivalries emerge against a backdrop of constrained resources and conflicting values to produce a world of high adventure and tangled mysteries. This novel is technically already completed, and I am currently in the final stages of proofing or editing. As such, there may be a few typos and errors here and there. The final version should be about 130,000 words long, which I will be releasing in stages as I continue editing. I'd love to hear your feedback and comments!
