《Unraveling Secrets》Chapter 47: Sparring
Advertisement
In the middle of the field were two young boys facing each other. They stared into each other’s eyes as they calmed their breathing. If one was to watch these two prepare themselves, they wouldn’t think that it was just a spar between two young boys but instead a match between trained adults.
One boy had blond hair that glowed as the sun’s light shined on it. He was holding a wooden sword and was in position to dash towards his opponent. He wouldn’t dare look down on his opponent, so he braced himself for the oncoming battle.
The other boy had light brown hair but he didn’t have a weapon in his hand. It wasn’t because he was looking down on his opponent but instead his hands were his weapon. Just like the blond hair boy, he was ready at a moment's notice to attack his opponent.
What separated them was a distance of 50 meters. For these two boys it would only take seconds for them to bypass this distance and reach their opponent. The real battle would start the moment they met in the middle of the 50 meter distance. But for now there was only silence as they stared at one another trying to predict their opponent’s moves.
“3!”
The countdown was beginning and the two boys readied themselves. As soon as the countdown was done they would be ready to fight.
“2!”
Although this wasn’t their first time fighting, they still couldn’t help feeling tense. When the countdown was done, it would be time for them to put all of their efforts into defeating their opponent.
“1!”
The two readied their entire strength. The aura roiling off of these two young boys isn’t what anyone would expect from children. Their aura was strong and intense and was comparable to a adults used to fighting battles.
“FIGHT!!!”
As soon as the countdown was over the two boys dashed towards one another. If an ordinary person was to watch, all they would see is a dust cloud behind the area where the two boys stood at. The both of them were extremely fast but to the onlookers, they could see that the boy with light brown hair was faster.

The blond haired boy could also see that his opponent was faster then him and he couldn’t do anything about it. So he decided to attack first. Although his opponent was faster than him, he had an advantage in reach because he had a sword. His opponent was restricted to only the length of his arms.
The blond haired boy swung his sword right down the middle aiming for his opponent’s head but that didn’t work. The brown haired boy had spun his body and dodged towards the left hand side of the blond haired boy. The blond haired boy was now faced with an incoming fist aimed straight towards his face but he wasn’t fazed. Instead he was smiling like he expected this to happen.
The blond haired boy pivoted back a little bit then spun his body towards his opponent. He was now swinging his sword from the bottom to the top where it would hit his opponent’s right arm.
Seeing that the sword was aiming for his arm the brown haired boy could have continued his punch and made contact because it was just a wooden sword but they were supposed to treat sparring like a real battle. In a real battle if he was to continue, his right arm would be cut off and he would be left weaken, so he decided to jump back instead.
Seeing this as an opportunity the blond haired boy charged forward as the brown haired boy retreated back. As he was thrusting his sword towards his opponent’s stomach, he looked up and saw that the brown haired boy was smiling. And he knew that whenever he was smiling during a fight, that meant he had set up a trap. He immediately stopped his advancement and jumped back.
It was a wise move of the blond haired boy to step back because the brown haired boy had set up a trap on the ground. The ground the blond haired boy was about to step into was transformed into mud and this would have made him lose his footing.
“Nice try but i’m not falling for the same trick again.”
“Haha, are you sure.”
As soon as the brown haired boy said that the blond haired boy landed into mud. The blond haired boy had landed in the original spot where they had first clashed but this time it was mud instead of dirt. This was the brown haired boy’s plan all along.

Although the blond haired boy was now stuck knee deep in mud he wasn’t worried. The sword style that he was taught had techniques that focused both in offense and defense. And he was more proficient in defense than offense. He could also see that his opponent was running out of breath and couldn’t maintain his form any longer, while he still had energy to fight.
The brown haired boy raised his hand and he made a ball of water in front of him. After condensing the ball of water in front of him he also condensed a ball of air and then he let it explode. As the ball of air exploded the ball of water was sent flying towards the blond haired boy.
“What is some water going to do to me.”
The blond haired boy proclaimed that the ball of water was useless and he was ready to slice it in half but before it even reached him it exploded. Now he was entirely covered in water. He wasn’t worried though the only probably is that he will be a little slowly due to his soggy clothes.
“Is that all you got. All you did was get me wet.”
The brown haired boy walked closer towards the blond haired boy. And as he walked he once again raised his hands. This time the blond haired boy was ready for anything his opponent was about to do but before he realized it, his movements started slowing down. He noticed that it was getting harder to move but after a while he realized what was happening. His body was being frozen.
The brown haired boy had started to freeze the water on the blond haired boy’s body. Seeing that his magic was working, he readied himself to end the battle. In the next second the muscles in his legs pulsated and he began sprinting towards the blond haired boy.
The blond haired boy knew that he was in a crisis but he couldn’t move. He was frozen and trapped in the mud. Any second know he was about to lose to the brown haired boy. He didn’t want to lose though. If he lost then he had to face the punishment from his great grandpa and he didn’t want that. In the seconds that he was thinking to himself, a voice appeared in his head.
‘You have learned the skill [Burnout]. Would you like to activate it.’
Without any hesitation he activated this skill. He didn’t know what it was or what it did but if this gave him the chance to win then he would try.
“Raaaagghhhh!!!!”
The ice melted off his body and he jumped out of the mud. Just as the brown haired boy was sprinting at him, he was now sprinting at the brown haired boy. This time his speed was just as fast as the brown haired boy.
Not expecting the blond haired boy to escape his trap, the brown haired boy failed to defend against the blond haired boy’s strike. His left arm was hit and was pulsating with pain. He was in shock, he didn’t know where the blond haired boy’s strength had come from.
This time the blond haired boy was on the attack and all the brown haired boy could do was dodge and defend himself. He was unable to counterattack at all. The blond haired boy’s attacks were stronger, faster, and more precise.
In the span of 10 seconds they had exchanged many moves but as soon as the 11th second passed, the blond haired boy fell down. The two of them were both exhausted and out of breath.
“Haah...haaah...I lost again.”
“Haah...haaah….haaa....You almost had me there.”
A man walked up to the both of them. This man was very familiar to the both of them, it was the mayor. He looked at both of them and smiled. The two of them just had an intense battle that was very well fought. He walked towards the brown haired boy, who was barely standing, and raised his hand.
“The winner of this fight is Kan Lock. This makes his record 6 wins and 5 losses.”

Essentia Animus
Second Book of the Soul - Celesi Veil Trilogy When the living essence of three girls are put at risk, giving room for a second essence within themselves, even their hyper developed fantasy world might not be enough to contain their new found ambitions. Another story of another world, these three girls must adapt to their new essence, all while each is left to question if they are truly still even alive. While this story is a sequel of the previous story in the trillogy, it is also fully capable of standing alone in its own light, taking place in a distant corner of a Celese returning readers will be otherwise incapable of recognizing. However, the events of the story are a spoiler for the previous book, in case that matters to anyone. This story takes place over two centuries after the events of Vitae Memorandum, when Celese had developed into an advanced world, improved to a point that it is much like modern-day Earth while still using the gift instead of technology. The Aethyx languages are still present in this book, and even English still exists in the world after the events of the previous book, but are much less of a focus after the same closing events of the previous book. What is instead important is how the ending events of the previous book had resulted in the start of the Instrumentation Era, and exactly how the gift translates in a modern-day sense. While this book is still effectively a fantasy world of its own kind of magic, it isn’t the classical medieval scene that would be typical for such a story. The laws of science still do not exist in Celese, but that didn’t stop it from developing into something that looks similar enough. Earth itself still remains present on the other side of the veil, and its previous exposure continues to shape and advance Celese into the world it has become. This story contains scenes exibiting mania and similar dark themes, as it goes to great length to explore concepts of life and death. While the degree of such themes should not be considered to be as serious compared to matters such as actual horror, the psychological depth is still siginifcant enough to be potentially concerning for people sensitive to matters of this nature, such as any individuals with concerns questioning matters of suicide, mental harm, or a variety of emotional injuries. While none of these subjects actually occur in the story, readers who are currently troubled by such matters may find themselves considering old wounds if they are especially capable of empathy while reading, which could lead to furthered emotional or mental stress. Readers with a high capacity for empathy may find themselves troubled by concerns regarding any potential lack of mental/emotional control as well as considerations regarding the meaning of death. Readers who appreciate subtle dark themes in a story may instead find this to be an interesting twist of the same idea.
