《Unraveling Secrets》Chapter 27: Darkness(Part 2)

“Hahaha, look who’s here. If it isn’t Clive Lock.”
“You bastards. How dare you kill the mayor.”
“Well, if he just told us where Claire was then he would have survived but he just had to go and lie that Claire isn’t in the village. Now what are you going to do Clive. Give us Claire and we’ll spare the village or will you have us massacre everyone just to find Claire.”
“What’s going on Clive?” “Who are those men?” “FUCK YOU GUYS!!” “We will avenge the mayor!” “Are they looking for Claire?”
The villagers off to the side were confused. The battle between the mayor and the mysterious men had happened in only a few seconds. They could not yet comprehend what was happening. As time passed the villagers started processing the current events and confusion arose. Some were furious, some sad, some still confused, but they all knew that a major change was about to occur in the village of Clear View.
Clive was stuck between a rock and a hard place. He didn’t know whether to abandon the villagers or not. He could run away and meet up with Claire and then the both of them could run away but he couldn’t do that. Everyone in the village was practically a part of his family. He had grown up here and knew everyone so he could not abandon them but he also couldn't abandon Claire. Clive chose to fight.
Clive unlocked his body and dash towards the man who was the leader. He ran at an incredible speed and was ready to punch straight through the man but it did not go that easily. As he was getting closer, weapons from all the other black clothed men attacked him so he had to retreat.
“Shit.”
“Look Clive is fighting them.” “Let’s help him.” “Get revenge for the mayor!” “Protect our village.” “ATTACK!!!”
“What’s happening?”
Dylan had arrived and the scene before him was disastrous. The men had started to fight the black clothed men but it was a one sided slaughter. Although the black clothed men were only about 50 people and the villagers side had about three times as many men, it was of no use. The bodies of familiar faces was strewn all over the ground.

“Grandfather!?”
Dylan had seen his grandfather’s lifeless corpse on the ground. The situation was bad and as time passed more and more men were dying. Dylan could only see bodies fall one after another. As he looked around, he saw the women and their children off to the side. Instead of joining the fight right away, he gave an order. Since his grandfather had died no one was leading the villagers so he had to do it.
“Eliza take Leo and run away. Run as far as you can and do not stop for anything.”
“But what about you honey.”
“Daddy don’t go.”
“It’ll be ok. Daddy is just going to do grandpa’s job for him.”
Dylan looked at his wife and son for the last time and hurried them to run away. Eliza ran with Leo crying in her arms as he tried to get out of her hold. He looked at his wife and son for one last time before turning around towards the carnage. Dylan then took a deep breathe.
“EVERY MEN FIGHT FOR THE VILLAGE! WE WILL FIGHT AND WE WILL DIE FOR OUR FAMILIES! EVERY SECOND WE HOLD OUT MEANS OUR FAMILY IS ONE SECOND FURTHER AND SAFER! EVERY WOMEN AND CHILD RUN AWAY! DON’T LOOK BACK NO MATTER WHAT! WE WILL ALL COME HOME SAFE AND SOUND! ALL MEN, FIGHHHTTTT!!!!!!”
After finishing his speech in one breathe Dylan charged towards the middle of the mayhem with his sword drawn out. The men had low morals after so many of them were slain but after hearing Dylan’s speech they were invigorated. They were not fighting to protect the village or even avenge the mayor, they were now fighting to allow their families to run away. All of the men roared and increased the strength of their attacks on the intruders.
The women and children could only run away with tears in their eyes. They were useless to help the men fight but the one thing they could do was survive. As long as they survived, the village of Clear View would survive. When Dylan had finished his speech, the women cried even harder then the children, especially those who had husbands fighting right now. Dylan had said that the men would come home safe and sound but they knew that he was just saying that to increase moral. It was likely that all of the men were going to die on this day.

‘Why? Why? Why is this happening? Make it stop. MAKE IT STOP, PLEASE!!!”
Kan could only watch in horror as all of this happened. He could not do anything to stop it since he could not come into contact with anything. People he knew were all dying in front of him and he could only watch helplessly. Earlier both Rob and Richard had died in front of him. Both of them were fighting to protect their wives and children but in the end they were both dead lifeless bodies. Kan had seen the eyes of Rob in his final moments. Those dead lifeless eyes had stared straight at him but Kan could do nothing to help him. All he could do was cry and repeat his apologies.
……
Clive was in the middle of fighting 7 blacked clothed men. Each one of them were extremely skilled in their own fighting styles. Just like how the mayor couldn’t deal with the different styles, Clive also couldn’t adapt to it. The only thing helping Clive last was that he was able to dodge and deal more damage because he could unlock more power as a combat specialist.
If he was to keep fighting he would be able to defeat them but he would be absolutely exhausted and wouldn’t be able to fight anymore. Currently Clive was not using his absolute limits because he knew this was a battle for time. He had to last as long as possible so everyone else could have more time to escape.
Clive was surrounded by those 7 men but suddenly a sword flew out of nowhere at incredible speeds and pierced one of those men. Clive looked at the sword and realized who it was, it was Dylan.
“That was a pretty good speech earlier Dylan.”
“Thanks Clive. How long do you think we’ll last?”
They both fought against the 6 black clothed men and the pressure on Clive immediately lessen a whole level. Their backs against each other and they spoke to one another. The tone of their voice was completely calm and it was like they were just talking over a cup of tea. One of the black clothed man tried to sweep Clive’s leg but Clive brought down his foot and shattered that man’s leg. As the man was incapacitated, Dylan bought his sword down and sliced off his head.
“At this rate we’ll last about 20 minutes.”
“Hahaha. Are you really that weak Clive. What don’t we give them 30 minutes.”
“Hahahaha. Sure lets give these guys a run for their money.”
‘Daddy. Uncle Dylan. Why is this happening? Someone tell me?’
Kan’s heart was broken. Everyone around him was dying and he could only watch. Tears endlessly flowed out of his eyes and no sound came out of his mouth because he had been crying too much.
In that one moment Kan watched as Dylan was stabbed from behind and he cried harder and harder. Dylan had died and now more men were fighting against Clive. Kan watched as Clive was now all by himself fighting against the rest of the men. Every other person had died and know Clive was unlocking his absolute limit to fight these men.
Kan watched his father fight but a bright light flashed through the sky. The light was blinding and covered the entire world. Kan had to cover his eyes so he wouldn’t become blind. After uncovering his eyes everything was gone. It was once again complete darkness.
