《B1nary Bl00d》Chapter 5-Training

*****
The planet Hoxxes was affected even worse than normal by dark matter. The F.S.R, in an attempt to make it more habitable, developed and released nanites to undo harmful effects of dark matter. The experiment, however, was a disaster. Instead of removing the effects of dark matter, they instead helped the wildlife merge with it forming terrible monstrosities of animals. The weakest of which would be the wolves and birds. To this day, Hoxxes remains one of the most inhospitable planets in the galaxy.

As I walk into the training room, two things happen. I suddenly feel the nanites in me, and this window appears.
Training Room Entered... Unlocking skills...
We all spread out and start to practice our skills. I try to use my building nanites. At first, I try just willing them out, but that doesn't work. I look to my skill list to see if I can use it somehow.

I try selecting the Nanite Building skill it works... kinda. It's like raising your ears. The hardest part is just figuring out how to move the muscle. I however, still can't use the skill without the skill tab's help. When I activate the skill, nanites come out of my blood vestles. I keep activating the skill, getting tiny movements from the nanites then feeling mentaly exhausted. I do this enough times that all 50 units of building nanites are out of me. When I look at my self, I see that my skin has returned to its normal color. I fiddle with the them making sqares and spikes, along with a few other things. After a while of this I get bored and absorb the nanites back into me. I then decide to fiddle with my stats using the nanites.

Nanite Distribution Strength: 20/100 Agility: 20/100 Dexterity: 20/100 Constitution: 20/100 Intelligence: 20/100 Building Nanites 50/50
First I move all of them into strength and constitution. This causes my body to swell. When it finishes I look like one of those guys who eats 12 eggs a day and drinks protein milkshakes. I redistribute the nanites to agility and dexterity. I don't look any different this time, but when I walk it feels smoother. I try to do a handstand, and its so easy I can walk around on my hands like it's nothing. Finally, I move all the nanites to intelligence. I don't think there's any way to describe becoming more intelligent. It is kinda like waking up fully in the morning. Your head is foggy, but then it's clear. I move the nanites to be even in all of them again, although losing intelligence feels horrible.
I look around and see what the others are doing. Peter is running around and jumping on/off stuff. Scott and Simon are fighting off waves of simulated enemies.I watch for several minutes. Scott starts off using a rifle, but when it runs out, he ends up using it as a club. Simon is using a battle ax to kill the monsters that get closer.
******
After hours of practice, I can use the building nanites without the skill, although I can't really use them to do anything other than crush stuff. If I use all 50 units of them, I can make them shove of the ground into stuff.
I wait for Simon and Scott to finish the current wave they are fighting and ask, "Do y'all want to have a competition to see who can make it to the farthest wave?"
"Sure," Scott says.
Simon goes first, he makes it to wave 12. Scott then makes it to wave 13. Peter then joins in and makes it to wave 7. I am then up. The first monster is what I could best describe as a goblin. Small, green, and humanoid. Very easy to kill, I just punch it to death. In the second wave, There are two goblins. In the third three and so on.

The sixth wave, however, has a wolf. for this, I used my building nanites to knock it of its feet. Then, I wrapped them around its body and crushed it. For the seventh wave, I wrap them around me, making a cacoon. As the wolves get near me, I shoot spikes out impaling them to death. I do this for the eighth, ninth, and tenth wave as well.
By this point, I am feeling some mental fatigue from using the nanites. The eleventh wave has an ogre, big and tough. I try to impale it with them, but the nanites just splat onto its skin. While I'm doing this, the ogre charges me. I jump to the side just barely not getting crushed by it. In desperation, while dodging it, I wrap the nanites around its neck and start to choke the ogre. It takes minutes, but finally, the ogre dies. I am totally exhausted by this point, but I move on the twelfth wave. I try to choke the two ogres, but I am unable to dodge them and choke them at the same time. Much to my disappointment, I die.

Beyond the Bridge
There are many worlds, many multiverses, and you can move between them via the Federation's Bridge network - magical gateways to other worlds. The world dubbed "C'thon" by its inhabitants - or Gamma-Theta-Nu-649, if you ask the Federation's bureaucracy - was deserted when the Federation found it. The "civilized" races had all died out centuries prior, and the wilderness had grown downright feral in their absence. Now, the lonely Federation outpost of Bridgetown is under constant threat from the hungry wildlife, malicious fey, territorial goblins, and wandering undead that surround it. The town's distance from the Federation's centers of power means that it gets precious few of the resources that it needs to stay safe and afloat. Enter the Guild of Adventurers, a plucky and disparate crew who do the Federation's dirty work in exchange for coin. One team, the first of many, crosses the Bridge to C'thon looking for fame, fortune, and (if they're lucky) the answer to a newly-discovered Prophecy. They'll get much more than they bargained for, although first they need to avoid being eaten by the local wildlife. Updates weekly on Wednesday. Chapters will be as long as they need to be for them to work, which means they can vary. If anything drops below 2500 words, I'll post an extra chapter if I have one ready. [PS: This is not a litRPG, but I do borrow heavily from TTRPGs for inspiration, and the general setting and storyline is from a TTRPG campaign I'm running.] [PPS: This is my first attempt at writing long-form fiction. I'm not trying to make a great piece of literature or have a multi-novel overarching plot, but hopefully it'll still be a fun story - let me know what you think in the comments.] [PPPS: Cover image is from a free-download wallpaper by Tyler Edlin; I do not own it, and will take it down immediately if requested.]
