《The Games That Bind Us》Chapter 60 - John's List

... I would like..." I added a lot of pauses and the suspense was building, however when I created a sheet of paper and started reading they were less curious and more terrified. "to have the permission to absorb all books in the Kings Private Library" I said causing Usara to flinch.
"That library would give you all the abilities of the kings bloodline, I can't allow that" Usara said scared of my response.
"Ok then, next is.... oh yea, I want your position to be handed to Kieran" I said with a grin, sure I wanted it but I feared that would be accepted since I can adapt into anything, this answer is obvious.
"NEVER!" Everyone in the room said, Oh look, Kieran entered just to say never, oh well, moving on.
"Ok then, I would like to have an infinity crystal" I said making everyone curious except Usara who looked at me annoyed for asking for a mythical non existent theoretical gem that contained the universe.
"Can you just skip to what you are really after" Usara said with a bit of dread. I smiled.
"I don't know, right now I am working to achieve my personal goals and have no real reason to help you, If it involved me personally maybe but you have never done anything for me, scratch that you have made things hard on this academy because Kieran is here. I have no need nor desire to protect you, find someone else with my kind of power" I said as I left to that highest security prison they were on about. however Usara smiled.
"How about I give you a position of Court Mage" Usara said immediately grabbing my interest. the Court Mage is able to freely enter and exit the court library as they please and it is a position that only means I help out in times of war and I help out when the monthly meeting comes and I listen to a lot of interesting top secret stuff. I really want that but I doubted I would get it. WAIT.
"If you are offering that things must be really going wrong in that 1 hour party" I said simply and Usara nodded.
"Everyone there will be trying to kill me" Usara said simply.... ahhh, and me with the greatest ability ever on worming my way through things is summoned to this. I feel honoured that the King of worming myself through bad situations is called upon by the King of the greater part of the planet. only thing he doesn't own is the ocean and where the Blue Mist is.
"Dare I ask why?" I said and he nodded.
"If I die then my son doesn't take the throne and instead my daughter does, however she is easily manipulated" Usara said resting any doubt of why a bunch of nobles want her in power.

"Deal, however I want to be able to enter the palace early to look around and make preparations" I said and Usara smiled.
"By the kings decree, I command thee to Stand before me" Usara said making me glow in Kingly Mana and teleport next to the king. I enter Hidden and he looks around like something was wrong, I smiled before suddenly appearing in front of him making him nearly fall back of his chair. "I cant die of heart attack before it starts either" Usara said making me laugh and then look around.
[Corrupt Guard]
was a title that came up a lot, however I fear speaking up about it early will replace then with even corrupter more well prepared guards. he took me to the court room, off to the left was the soon to be my Court Mage's Quarters, it has been empty for years so it is dusty. "I now grant you the position of Court Mage and you will keep the title as long as you fill your end of the deal" Usara said and I nodded and placed a Mana Marking on him so I can keep a track of his location and safety. with that I nod and begin emptying the Mage's quarters. "What are you doing?" Usara said as I put everything in my inventory only leaving a desk a chair and a floor rug.
"Cleaning and redecorating" I said as I made the rest with coloured paper so I always had a weapon on hand and making me able to see the court room 24/7 since I had a Paper Spider in the corner of the room. I also set my personal teleporter to the 3 Fists Academy 1 mile in the air. so nobody would just walk into it and it was set so only I could use it.
"Who are you?" Said a noble girl from behind me. the voice was gentle and polite, I ignored it like the rest. however she walked over and tapped my shoulder. "Excuse me mister" She said and I without even looking.
"You are excused" I said simply causing her to get confused before panicking.
"No you misunderstand good sir, I am trying to get my attention by saying excuse me" the noble girl said walking right into my next line.
"You did get my attention, just not much and not for long" I said causing her to look more worried.
"I am only wondering why you are here" the noble girl said to me and I looked up out the window to the sunset.
"Don't we all?" I said in a philosophical tone causing her to get a but frustrated yet she remained calm at the same time. she then gave me a polite and respectful bow.

"I am princess Isabel Crow, daughter of the king" Isabel said to me like it changed anything. however I need to show some respect so I turn to face her and wow... I felt my heart skip a beat. she had bright gold hair. he was proportionately purfect for the age of 19. she had simple white clothes on, a white t shirt on and white trousers with white high heals. she is a Spirit Guardian. her aura is specialised so she can talk to anyone directly into there soul. I am not affected as I am a soulless game addict for life. literally.
"I am John Richardson the Court Mage. How may I help you get out of my sight a bit faster?" I said busy with planting paper runes to everything in my room to prevent theft.
"Sorry, I was just wondering, normally people try and use me for there own goals however you are not even paying me any interest, I wonder why?" Isabel said to me with a curious smile, walking right into my next line.
"Princess Crow, I don't know about attention but I would pay you in Divine Dragon Scales to leave me alone for at least 5 minuets while I work on these runes" I said placing a few more down with careful precision.
"oh, I apologise for disturbing you, I will return in 5 minuets" Isabel Crow said with a smile, I had already had enough of her, our social standings are two different that it would become a hassle. I am the son of a farmer, she is the son of the king, not socially acceptable. I just go back to placing runes down, I am now working on runes that will bind anyone who is about to commit the act of murder and it will point out how for all to see. I am preparing for ANYTHING!!! I cant fail this quest.
[Quest: The Kings Shield]
[Requirements: Protect the king and don't let him die until 12 pm on the night of the Celebration Party]
[Rewards: Permanent Court Mage title, closer intimacy with the Royal Family and Court Library Access]
Sure enough, until I finish the quest I cant enter the library and my Gamer Ability has made it so I can't read a book early without cancelling the quest. so I am working on making it impossible to kill the king.
"I am back Court Mage John" Isabel Crow said to me with a smile.
"oh joy" I said sarcastically as I got up from finishing the first set of runes. I will take NO chances. "How may I help you Princess Isabel Crow?" I said with a smile.
"for starters feel free to call me more casually Court Mage John" Isabel Crow said making the next part easy,
"But Princess Isabel Crow, you ask me to call you casually while still calling me Court Mage John, isn't it a bit disrespectful?" I said preparing for her to walk into it.
"Sorry, feel free to call my casually...j.. John" Isabel Crow said with a smile.
"Thank you miss Casually" I said as she walked right into it.
"huh?" Isabel sounded utmost confused,
"You did ask me to call you 'Casually'" I said and waited a few seconds before she got it and then panicked.
"No John, I meant for you to call me Isabel, not literally casually, I apologise for the misunderstanding" Isabel said to me with a panicked smile. I started laughing. "Is something wrong John?" Isabel asked and I nodded.
"Gullible is wrote on the ceiling" I said pointing but she got angry.
"I AM NOT GULLIBLE" Isabel shouted in protest but I pointed and my paper had literally wrote gullible on the ceiling. she then noticed and looked embarrassed. "sorry for shouting, I just have the problem of being to trusting of people" Isabel said while starting to show it... Empathy was showing the early signs of her being deeply in love with me... to bad...
"Its ok, I get it, but these Runes will save your fathers life so please don't bother me, It is very important and Runes are hard to make on a good say, this is a large area and there are a lot of powerful mages here so I need to be patient and get this done, I will be done in a day or two" I said and she nodded with interest, she is fascinated by magic and energy and all that complicated stuff.
"I shall return tomorrow" Isabel said with a smile. I just got back to work. I have a month to do this and I will spend as much time as I can making nobody able to hurt the king, screw that, being able to die in this room should be impossible unless it is done by a Divine Dragon. which I am also preparing for... I love perpetration. it is useful.
[Advanced Rune Mastery: You are able to make runes faster and more complicated. speed and complicity will increase with Intelligence, Wisdom and skill level]
with that I could place them down so much faster already, this will be easier then I thought.

Everyone is a Superhero! Apart from me
Welcome to Loktharma, where everybody is a superhero from birth. That makes Eugene De Lavet the most special of them all. At eighteen years old, he still has no clue what his superpower is. Loktharma has never been a fair world. There are Worldbreakers who were born to brandish the power of the universe, warp time-space, destroy lands and continents. There are Craftmasters who control the elements and terrorize countries with their might and wits. There are Commoners who are only gifted with power for the finer arts, architecture, military arts, or small-scale elemental manipulation. Even in an unjust world like Loktharma, there is always one constant: everyone is assigned a Flair since birth; the power to do something extraordinary. And then there's Eugene. He's been running around in a secluded forest since birth, training and sparring his ass off. While he can wield a blade better than most at his age, he certainly can't throw a giant boulder using the power of his mind, or turn his skin into diamonds. He has no Flair, no purpose for leveling up his stats, and no idea why General Rizeni Baggardo keeps him confined inside a forest for eighteen years. At least until Lord Pyro—the Craftmaster of Tailiah—unleashes his fury on the forest, searching for a treasure Eugene doesn't even know exists. On a frantic escape for his life, Eugene starts to realize he was a part of something he's been completely oblivious to until now. Along with his companions, Melodi and Azra, he travels the land and unveils the secrets of the world. [The story will be told primarily through the lenses of three main characters, with occasional side character POV chapters. It also draws inspiration from Japanese shounen. So only proceed if you're cool with these aspects.]
8 172Far Behind
The continent of Ranfel is a savage one, where humans are at the bottom of the food chain. Their known history is short and their territories are small, only being able to live on the plains at the coast where beasts are rare. When they are not fighting against each other, they have their hands full with monsters attacking their borders. This is the place where Quin was born, in the capital of the Duchy of Ade Lai, Crows' Road. Having a hatred for exercises, or anything that is tiring and thinking the legions will protect him from the harsh outside world, he does not care about cultivation. However this all changes when a certain incident happens, altering his life forever.----------------------------------------------------------------------Hey everyone, I've been working on this story for more than a year now, but this is my very first novel and english isn't my mother tongue, so I'd be glad to get some (constructive) input/feedback on it!Schedule: check the announcements thread for the current schedule. If you can't decide whether the story is for you or not based on the synopsis, check out the first thread below.I'm also looking for an editor, if you’re interested, pm me. 8 135Passing Onto Fog
This is another attempt at the world travelling reincarnator. I dropped my other story because I didn't like where it was going and I felt trapped in the Narutoverse. This time, I'm going to have the main character travelling to more than just one world and they won't all be action based. Have fun and thank you! The first chapters are rough, but I believe I'm improving! Please stick around while I find the style I wish to write in!
