《The Games That Bind Us》Introduction (Re write)

Hello, I am named John Richardson. I live in a world where things a simple. I live in the village called Onset. It is a simple village that is very peaceful and out of the way. not many visitors come by this town and when they do they are normally looking for another. The main reason this town is peaceful is because it is about as far away as you can get from the Blue Mist. what is the Blue Mist you may be wondering? well you see it is this nasty fog that hangs over half the planet. entering it is easy as long as you have basic Mana control and don't breath in a mouth full of the stuff. it alters your brain and you are reduced to a primal wreck. the only thing that goes through your head is primal desires like the desire to kill, the desire to mate, the desire to sleep. that sort of stuff, however to combat this you have the combat schools that train you, and if you have potential you can move on to the fighting academies. I am a simple kid. I have an amazing ability but it has a cost.

[MMO Gamer]
yea, I have that. around a year ago I got a message that told me I was a gamer, it was fairly simple, however back then it was limited and needed all these updates and programs so I could not train it. I have been thinking about looking at what this power can do for me since I was already an ok warrior in the village, I could take on the Hungry Wolves in the forest since I was 5. I am 16 right now, and My power has not been changing. a Gamer can only get stronger through constant training and the murdering small animals and harvesting their life energy as experience. simple right? well I am going to test that, I have been harvesting the small rabbits and worms around the village for a while now but nothing is getting me the experience I need to level up any time this century. so I am going off into the forest to fight a hungry wolf. that should get me the needed experience, the first thing I will put points on?

Strength 1, Dexterity 1, Vitality 1, Intelligence 1, Wisdom 1, Charm 1, Fighting Spirit 1, Willpower 1.
I think I will put the first set of points on dexterity, Being fast can be helpful in multiple ways. strength lets you hit harder but Dexterity lets you hit more often and it you miss you can recover faster. simple enough right? and vitality is good but if someone can instantly kill you what is the point when you could have evaded the attack? and I don't want to test if I can respawn. it is just not something you can test safely. the main reason I am not putting anything on the stats of the mind is because they can be raised by studying for tests and reading books. so that is much safer and easier to raise the stat of. as for charm I will have you know I am already irresistible, not that there is any girls my age in the vilage, but I know my looks are good, I set them personally with character customisation. I have black hair brown eyes white skin, maybe my skin is to white, some people get me confused with a zombie. oh well. and fighting spirit sounds nice however I have no idea what it is. and will power I already have, I would be willing to do almost anything to grow stronger. so I am already purfect on that front.
"John, be back before lunch, I have something to talk with you about" My dad said to me in a happy voice. I wonder what it could be? oh well, I grab my staff and walk off to begin hunting some wolves. I look into the forest and they are so easy to spot.
[Hungry Wolf]
[Level 4]
[Pack Worker]
hmm, it looks simple enough. I walk over to the wolf and use my staff to whack it on the back of the head like I normally do, it kills them instantly before they even realise what happened, except this is the first time I have done it as a gamer, and sure enough it only knocked the health bar down by a third. It has 100 HP and I have 1000HP, meaning vitality is not its strong suit, however I only did around 34 HP damage and that was with a critical hit. the worst part about being a gamer is damage done is depending on what your strength is at. wait, the wolf is walking around with stars around its head, I guess blunt force trauma to the back of the head does something at least, I whack the wolf a few more times with quick succession and kill it.

[Your Level Has Increased By 1, you have 5 SP to spend]
now I put all 5 in dexterity. and it works strangely, my movements speed was increased, each 1 point is just adding an extra base movement speed. the original 1 being base movement speed. that is simple enough. I pick up my staff and continue to whack hungry wolves and small rabbits over the head with a staff the size of me. I am just so nice like that. I a satisfied with my progression, at the end of my slaughter of poor forest animals I am level 6.
Strength 6, Dexterity 16, Vitality 6, Intelligence 1, Wisdom 1, Charm 1, Fighting Spirit 1, willpower 1.
[Staff Mastery: You ability at using a staff has increased you ability at using it. damage increased by 50% and defence is increased by 50%. chances of knocking someone out increases or decreases depending on where you hit]
ok, that was simple enough, my staff broke out of nowhere half way through the hunt when a good wooden staff should last a year, maybe being a gamer has some draw backs, and when I say it broke I mean it was reduced to splinter sized pieces of wood that are useless. How? I don't know, how does it work in any other game? I did get a cool Mastery skill however it was getting close to lunch time and father wanted me back, with that in mind I go home. I see my father looking at me with a smile on his face.
"Son, there is someone in here to meet with you" My father said with a proud smile. oh please don't tell me he has forced me into an arranged marriage like he id my brother Michael, he go with someone called Lin Ren, her title was [The Sadist] so I am not falling on that Land Mine. "He is the Headmaster of the Three Fists Academy. he wants to enrol you on a 5 year course of power." My father said, making me turn around and run for the hills. I am willing to do anything BUT that. that academy has a reputation for making people with potential into monsters. and that is on the 1 week course. I am not joining that kind of fighting school, I am to young to die. I then realise I am not making any progress in my get away. I look and behind me is a giant with a big wooden tribal mask that has glowing red eyes. the monster has a white suit and big leather gloves. he is at least 9 foot tall. a giant by any definition of size, by comparison to my 5 ft 9 inches I am average high, I set it with the character customisation since it said I would not grow age or have a change of appearance after that.
"you should calm down there, I am giving you the chance of a lifetime" The Headmaster said to me.
[AI Headmaster]
[Level 180,000]
[Conner White]
"Yes you are right, it is the chance of a lifetime, because it reduces your life expectancy to a few days so you see the world in a different light" I said with a wry smile and he smiled back.
"I could have you become very strong, I could sense your potential from my academy, I just have to have you" Conner said with a big smile before turning to my father who is a level 10 farmer. "I will be taking your son for now, just as the agreement said" Conner said before running at blinding speed towards the Legendary Academy Of Hell.
-----------------------------------------------
This is a quick chapter to introduce the main character, the original was getting a lot of complaints so I decided to be a responsible author and re write.
Let me know in the comments if you think this is better or worse then the original, I will be having a few minor changes and a few major changes to the story but it is all for improvement. let me know if it is a good improvement or not.
