《Lancastre Academy》Book 2 Dealing with Water - Chapter 23 - Madame Sasaki

"Anything yet?" Parker asked Eliott as he caught up to him in the corridor after a couple days of no news.
Eliott turned and gave Parker and exasperated look that showed he was clearly tired of being asked about Colton. Parker slowed down a little noticing the look he was receiving.
"Actually, I do have something." Eliott started to grin, laughing a little that he fooled Parker into thinking he was upset. "According to some of the kids in his classes he wasn't all that great at anything except for healing. That was the one thing he was great at. Apparently he would even spend time with Madame Sasaki in the Medical Ward to see what he could do."
The look on Parker's face told Eliott that he was ecstatic at the news he'd received. Before Eliott could say anything else, Parker ran away and around the corner.
He ran into the dining hall and crashed into his chair. Caleb, Alexis, Hailee, and Ana all jumped when he arrived. "What's the rush?" Ana asked.
"Eliott found something out!" They all leaned in so they could talk without being overheard. "Apparently he wasn't much of an Imperial unless it came to anything medical. They said he's a really good healer and would spend time with Madame Sasaki to learn new stuff."
"Well, I think we should go talk to her then and see what she knows." Alexis was practically out of her seat by the time she finished her sentence. Parker reached out and grabbed her hand to pull her back.
"Just wait a moment before you run off." She sat back down, annoyed that Parker had stopped her.
"Why? Why aren't we going right now? We have the time to do it before our Omni class."
He stared intently at her for a moment before speaking. "What are you going to ask? Did Colton seem like a kidnapping lunatic when he was here?" Alexis didn't appreciate the sarcastic tone as he spoke.
"No! But we can at least get an idea of what she knows."
"Don't you think the masters would've already talked to her about it though? I'm sure Master Kingston knew that her student was spending time there learning stuff from Madame Sasaki." Hailee tried her best to convince Alexis that there was probably nothing they could do.
"I'm getting the feeling you don't want me to go talk to her. Is there a reason why?"
"Not particularly, I just think we should figure out what we're going to ask before we go talk to her." Hailee looked at the rest of the group for confirmation from them and received it with nodding head. Alexis gave a slight pout and sat down firmly.
Lunch ended and they made their way to their Omni class. The walk down the corridors seemed very long every once in a while and today had been one of those days. No amount of talking or conversation seemed to make the walk take less time.
The class flew by quicker than the trip there had. Parker had the hang of his Air and Water Imperials and was feeling decent with his Space Imperial. At least by himself his Space Imperial was working smoothly. He managed to keep it going for twenty minutes in his space before losing grip of it and returning to reality. The more people he tried to take with him the less time he could stay there.
"So, why Colton?" Caleb asked everyone as they walked to dinner.

"I'm not sure. Maybe because he didn't really have any friends Lara thought that no one would notice if he went missing."
"Ana makes a good point. That's probably why he was targeted." Hailee seemed convinced that had to be why he was chosen. "Because then the others they attacked were students who wouldn't be noticed if they went missing for a little while."
Everyone nodded in agreement as they took their seats in the dining hall. Parker saw the masters sitting in their usual seats having their usual heated conversations. He couldn't believe that they got so heated in front of the students so often.
"So, when would be a good time to go talk to Madame Sasaki?" Alexis asked.
"Whenever is fine, we just need to plan out what we're going to ask," Hailee said. They spent the rest of their dinner thinking of everything they had to ask and picking which questions were the most important.
As soon as they finished eating their dinner, they made for the Medical Ward. Parker felt nervous but couldn't figure out why. There had been nothing to be nervous about. It's not as though he'd never spoken to Madame Sasaki or thought he was going to get in trouble. He figured it must just be everything that was going on finally getting to him.
They could see the Medical Ward doors down the corridor as they picked up their pace. When they walked through the doors they saw Madame Sasaki attending one of the beds in the room.
Waiting for her to return to her desk, the five of them talked quietly trying not to disturb anyone. When she finally got back to her desk she spoke before they had the chance to ask any of their questions.
"Walk with me, now."
They followed her to the corridor. When the door closed behind Ana Madame Sasaki began talking. "What do you know?"
Parker stared at her, heart racing. It sounded like she knew that they figured out how Colton used to work with her. "We don't know anything Madame Sasaki. That's what we came to talk to you about. We want to know everything you know about Colton."
She stared at the five of them without talking for several moments. Finally she squeaked out something nearly inaudible. "Colton is laying in one of those beds in the Medical Ward."
Their jaws dropped and Parker cracked the door open to look in. He saw Colton lying with his eyes closed on the bed closest to the door. "When did he show up?" he whispered angrily.
"He was in a heap at my door. I just got him into the bed a little before you arrived. I haven't had a chance to tell the masters. I was hoping you would be able to run and tell them for me."
A sly smile grew on Alexis's face. "Sure, we can do that! But you have to tell us why Lara would've targeted Colton in the first place. We know she could've talked to him whenever being able to control space and time but we can't figure out what was so special about him."
"He's a good Medic. One of the best I've seen in years, even though he's just a third year. Now, go."
They left her and started talking as soon as they rounded the corner. Between speed walking and talking, Alexis was panting heavily. "Why would Lara need a good medic? Do you think she got injured last year?"

"She might've been," Caleb said. "But what would she have needed with Colton and the others? Wouldn't she just need a good medic?"
They arrived at Master Sora's chambers as Caleb finished his sentence. Parker knocked on the door and it swung open. A tingling rippled through him, not expecting the door to open. "Master…? Master Sora…?" Alexis started to walk into the chambers slowly, hoping to see Master Sora rounding the corner of the bookshelves.
Alexis peeked her head around the corner and saw that there was no one in the room. "He's not here. Why are his chambers open if he's not here?" Her voice had started firm but grew slightly panicky as she spoke.
"Maybe he had to leave in a rush?" Ana suggested.
"His chambers lock automatically. They're supposed to only be able to open from the inside…" Alexis's voice grew more and more concerned.
"Where do you think he is?" Ana asked. She looked to her friends for some support, fear spreading throughout her body. Everyone shrugged their shoulders.
"Let's go find one of the other masters and ask if they know," Alexis said and started to walk off not waiting for confirmation from her friends.
They arrived at the door to Master Keegan's chambers and saw that it was ajar. Parker slowly pushed the door open and creeped inside. His chambers mirrored that of Master Sora's almost perfectly.
"He's not here…" Parker said dreadfully.
Alexis pushed passed him. "How? Where could they have gone?"
"You don't think something happened to them, do you?" Ana asked worriedly. Alexis turned and walked out of his chambers and down the corridor without saying anything.
"Where are you going?" Parker shouted after her. He took off before the others catching up to Alexis first. "Alexis, slow down! Where are you going?"
"I'm going to Master Kingston's chambers. Surely she isn't missing as well."
"Why don't you go to Master Terra's then?"
"I feel like I'm closer to Master Kingston than I am to him." Parker frowned in agreement realizing that he didn't know Master Terra very well either. He'd never made any real connection with him. For the most part, all of the other masters had sought them out and gotten to know them. Especially since the accident.
As they were walking down the corridor toward Master Kingston's chambers Master Terra ran into them as they turned a corner. Alexis and Parker nearly fell to the ground since Master Terra was so much larger than them.
"Whoa! What's the rush children?" Master Terra said tautly.
"We were looking for one of the masters when…" Caleb began saying.
"Well, here I am. How can I be of service to you?"
"Why are the other masters missing?" Caleb said with growing concern.
Master Terra frowned, puzzled by his question. "What in the world are you talking about? All of the headmasters are in the Medical Ward."
All of their eyes opened wide. "What? We were just there, and Madame Sasaki told us to go find you four and tell you that Colton appeared. He's in the Medical Ward now." Alexis was utterly confused as to how everyone was there.
Master Terra led them to the Medical Ward and proved that there was nothing wrong with the other masters. "See, all of them, right here safe and sound." The three masters and Madame Sasaki were standing around Colton's bed staring at his unconscious body.
"Why are your chambers open?" Alexis asked a little louder than intended.
Master Sora wheeled around with a confused look on his face. "What do you mean open?"
Parker spoke before Alexis could. "The door to both your chambers and Master Keegan's chambers were unlocked. We walked into both of them ourselves."
The masters looked at each other very seriously and began whispering heatedly. Without saying anything, all four of them left.
The kids looked at each other confused. Madame Sasaki spoke before any of them said anything. "I'm sure there's nothing to worry about."
"What about with Colton? There's nothing to worry about with him? I mean just appearing and everything?" Hailee sounded exasperated by everything that was going on. "Is this all my mom's doing?" She blurted without thinking clearly.
"Your… mom's? What do you mean Hailee? Lara is the one behind this…" They watched the light bulb click in her head as she asked her question. "Wait… really…?"
Hailee nodded her head. "Barely anyone knows though so please don't say anything to anyone," she pleaded.
"I won't." She spoke and then walked to her desk at the back of the room. The five of them stood around Colton and spoke quietly.
"What do you think is going on right now?" Ana asked.
"I really have no clue," Alexis said.
"Do you think the masters have an idea of what's happening?" Caleb asked. Everyone shrugged their shoulders. "Should we go and ask them?"
"Who knows where they even went." Hailee said.
"True…"
-----
"Colton's awake!" Parker yelled as he appeared in the common room.
"What?" Alexis yelled. "When did he wake up?"
"Just a little bit ago. I was talking to Master Terra about what I could do to try and kick start my Earth Imperial when Master Kingston came in and told him."
"Has he said anything yet?" Hailee asked.
"I don't think so, but do you want to go see him? We're done with class for the day."
Alexis looked unsure. "I don't know… we've got a lot of homework to do…"
"Really?" Parker asked, shocked that she wasn't dying to go see him. "He's been out cold for three weeks and has finally woken up and you don't want to see him?"
"I just already feel behind and the thought of falling further behind makes me want to cry."
"Don't cry… you stay here and study. I'll take Caleb with me and we'll go talk to Colton and see what we can find out."
-----
"Wait, why was I dragged along?" Caleb asked as they approached the Medical Ward doors.
"I don't get you people!" Parker was infuriated by their lack of curiosity.
"Don't get what?"
"How are you not dying to ask him questions?"
"I just don't think that we're going to learn anything new and I want to focus on mastering my Imperials rather than search for information that won't end up helping us in the end."
Parker couldn't believe that everyone had somehow lost their interest in everything that was happening to them. "Did I miss something? I mean I'm with you on wanting to master our Imperials, hence meeting with Master Terra today." Parker's words grew more heated the more he spoke. "But seriously? How have you guys stopped caring?"
"It's not that I don't care. But everything seems to just happen to us whenever Lara feels it's time so there's nothing we can do anyways."
Parker opened the door to the Medical Ward and Madame Sasaki appeared immediately. She escorted them to Colton's new bed at the back of the Medical Ward.
"Why was his bed moved?" Parker asked as they were led to the back of the room.
"When he woke up, we moved him so that no one would overhear the masters talking to him."
Parker and Caleb looked around the room confused. "But… the only ones here to overhear a conversation are unconscious and have been for some time now…" Caleb didn't understand her decision to move him.
"The masters were worried that someone in the corridor might try to eavesdrop on their conversations."
They shrugged their shoulders. "I guess that makes a little sense," Caleb said.
Colton's bed was tucked away in a corner of the Medical Ward that didn't have a lot of light so it was hard to read the expression on his face as he sat up in bed. "I'm sorry… do I know you?"
Parker hadn't really thought about it, but until they stopped him from killing Zoey, none of them had known who he even was let alone had said anything to him. "No, you don't. We were the ones who stop you from killing a second year."
Caleb noticed that there was no change in Colton's expression at those words. He figured the mention of attempted murder might cause some change in body language but he saw none in the dim lighting. "Don't you remember trying to drown Zoey in the courtyard?"
"All I remember is leaving the Medical Ward to go and do my homework and then I just woke up here today."

Magriculture (Rewrite)
When Aurum Industries announced the first Full Immersion Virtual Reality Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (FIVRMMORPG if you're hip) Limitless Online, most people saw it as an opportunity to live out their sword and sorcery fantasies. John, however, saw it as the opening of a new and as of yet uncrowded job market. One he was willing, and eager, to exploit. Determined to make money through virtual hard work and effort, John sets his sights not on the heights of magic or the perfection of the sword, but instead upon the tilling of the soil and the sowing of seeds as he explores the wide and wonderful world of magical agriculture all from the comfort of his own bed. Disclaimer: This is a rewrite of the original "Magriculture", which some of you may have read. (To those who did, you have my deepest gratitude, it is absolutely because of your patronage and comments that this rewrite happened, and I feel the story is better for it.) That said, this story is not a complete and polished work, there will be mistakes and errors, an occasionally these errors may mean I need to rewrite portions of the story (as of this posting the story has gone through two major rewrites already, and I'm seriously hoping there won't be need of a third.) Because of this, there may at times be changes. Such changes may be as small as editing a few numbers (such as going back and changing how much mana an object holds) or it may force me to re-write entire chapters (this has happened once already, and I'm really hoping it doesn't happen again, but... life). Minor re-writes will probably never be posted here. Major rewrites probably will. Anyway, what this boils down to is: If you're looking for a fully cohesive story with few to no errors and publisher level editing, this is not the story for you. If you're looking for a cohesive plot that's more than "Man farms, man farms, man farms well, man maybe makes money" you're probably also in the wrong place, but I will attempt to entertain you anyway.
8 264The Calculator - Supervillainess Time Loop
What makes a terrifying villain? Is it ruthlessness? Is it how powerful they are and how many buildings they can down in one blow? Is it how hard they are to kill, contain, or get rid of in any manner? Is it their knowledge of a hero’s true identity in a world where secrets must be kept? Or is it perhaps how they seem to be perfect in all their actions, defeating the hero at every step of the way throughout to the last one, only to humiliate them one last time before declaring themselves the winner in the grand scheme of things? Isabella Blair is perfect. She knows all your moves before you even make them. All your ambushes are faced with traps and she dodges all your blows like it’s child’s play. Catching her is impossible because she’s always ten steps ahead of you. She says she calculated everything, but she messes up in every fight. She loses far more than she wins, sometimes a hundred times for just one small victory. Yet, she is perfect. How is that possible, you may ask. That’s because she has the uncanny ability to return to the past whenever she makes a mistake. All that’s left in the end can only be what’s perfect if all the realities in which you’ve lost are gone, after all. And that makes for one hell of a terrifying profile. Crossposting on ScribbleHub, SpaceBattles, and Wattpad. Don't mind the "Pre-Rewrite" Volume. It is there for reference until the story catches up to the chapter count via the Rewrite (and to justify the current reviews as there would be no context to them otherwise). If you are a first-time reader, feel free to start from the other Volume.

8 81The Great Erectus and Faun
The Great Erectus, otherwise known as "The Big Guy" is NOT a god. Don't call him that. It will tick him off. He and his newfound apprentice/sidekick the definitely not a creation goddess Faun have a little problem. The Big Guy's universe is blowing up. Faun might have had something to do with that. (She feels awful about it BTW) They must rush about the unraveling universe saving (or judging) worlds as the end of all things is bearing down upon them at the speed of light, so they have a bit of time but really can't mess about. Along the way they will encounter Lovecraftian horrors, divine ex-girlfriends, surly AI's and a host of other hassles. Enjoy such delights as the complete destruction of the universe, a children's "Christmas pageant" except where "the greatest story ever told" involves an eldritch horror from another universe, and an innocent misunderstanding concerning the exact definition of a "red dwarf". Existential dread! Lovecraftian comedy! It's as much madness as can be shoved into a single work and still remotely make sense! If you enjoy completely off the hook lunacy, this one is for you!
