Hmm, so she can heal and cast fireball right now in combat but she could also create new runes or enhance existing ones and she has some essence. She could also create a couple of enchantments but it looks like we share soul count so she would either do that or I can upgrade existing equipment. Honestly, I think it would a better use of resources for her to use them to apply enchantments after she creates some new runes that hopefully buff.

"Wow, Kai we fit well together. You could be our frontline while I provide damage and support from range. I don't have many runes right now but I might be able to make some new ones. Also, do you think it would better to enhance your gear or use souls for enchantments?"

"I personally think it would be a better choice to let you use them after you create some new runes that buff or something as I might change my gear after the next time we tower dive."

"That makes sense. It says to make new runes I can combine two or more old ones to get a new one losing the combined runes or I can attempt to make the runes it lists for me. As of right now, there are only 2 choices. One that buffs defense, and one that buffs damage."

Hmm, those are both good choices but what would happen if she combined fireball and heal I wonder. She could potentially lose both runes but we could always have her get more later

"It costs 200 essence to combine my current runes and 100 to buy one of the given ones."

So she could actually do both and worst-case scenario have 1 buff rune that could be applied as an enchantment.

"I know it might sound a little crazy but hear me out. I think you should combine your current runes and create one of the buff runes."

"You are right, it does sound crazy Kai. I could lose our only heal rune and I would lose a source of damage."

"Yes you would, but For the first couple floors, I don't really take much damage so we could easily farm up essence to level up and or get new later."

After I point out my opinion Maria looks like she is thinking about whether do it or not until she finally looks at me again.

*sigh* "Fine, we will do that but you better be my meatshield if it doesn't work out."

Maria then proceeds to try to combine fireball and heal using her essence.

"I think you made the right decision Maria. The spells basically combined their effects into one spell but being better at each. It may have made your damage more expensive but your healing cost is decreased."

"Tch.. fine you were right. It is a really good rune that can be enhanced later. Time to get the defense buff rune."

pfft, imagine the one we thought was a guarantee to work is the one that failed.

"Guess we aren't getting any enchantments yet."

*sigh* "No, but at least I have a better rune for now.'

"Agreed, you ready to dungeon dive again?"

"Yeah, let's go Kai."

While walking through the city towards the Tower we once again drew a lot of attention to ourselves but this time wasn't only about the Contract.

"Did you hear about the Dragon Cry Guildmaster coming all the way here in person? Do you think he came to recruit her?" one short black-haired women said to her long blonde haired friend

"Yeah, someone told me that they saw the guild master speaking to her at her house. I am so jealous of them. My husband was only able to join a third rate guild, I can't imagine the number of benefits she will receive."

Not all of the attention was pure gossip as a tall short blonde haired guy with red eyes who looked to be in his 20's stops in front of us. I imagine most girls probably swoon over him. I wonder how Maria will handle this.

"Excuse me miss, but I couldn't but having my breath taken away by your sheer beauty. You might not know me but I am Samael the Count of Lunaria's son and I would like to invite you out to dinner tonight." mister rich playboy gives off a bright smile probably thinking that she is for sure going to say yes.

"Not interested." Maria coldly replies and latch onto my right arm shoving it between her soft peaks.

"Sure, I'll pick you up at... wait what?" Samael looks to be dumbfounded after being rejected as we walk away.

Oh, how I wish I had facial features so I could smirk at him right now. You know what let's settle with this and I turn around looking him dead in the eye and give him a middle finger and continue walking. Serves you right daddy's boy.

After leaving him in the dust we walk the rest of the way through the city to the Tower and proceed to the entrance of the first floor and slaughtering the weak goblins until we come across a shadow goblin again.

Time to get revenge for being chased down last time even if it isn't the same one.

"Maria let me handle this one. I have an old score to settle with this guy."

I immediately run towards the goblin but I see a gold and somewhat transparent flame go by smashing into the shadow goblin instantly killing it for some reason.

I turn around to look at Maria who proceeds to just smirk and walk in the direction of the second floor. Imagine struggling so much with a creature to see someone one-shot it. Sometimes life is really unfair. after seeing that it didn't drop anything I begrudgingly follow after the heartless beauty.
