《Living Armor》Chapter 6: Contract

"So, Maria, can you help me leave the tower?"
"Ah, Well... yes and no. There are two ways to leave the Tower as a monster and the first one is by just walking out but that would cause every guard and adventurers outside of the Tower to immediately try to slay you because of the whole monsters escaping the Tower and destroying cities. The second way is much safer but I'm not sure you would like that..."
"Hmm, what is it, I am sure it can't be that bad." Kai writes out
"Remember the soul contract I mentioned?"
"yeah... wait, are you saying for me to leave without being immediately killed is to sign a soul contract? Would that basically turn me into a mindless puppet?"
"Well, not necessarily as you won't be a slave per se and will be able to communicate freely. You will be something along the lines of my familiar. You'd have to follow most of my orders, so it kind of depends on who you contract with... I am willing to do it if it helps you, but I don't want you to feel like I am gonna make you a slave. You saved me when you didn't have to, and I wouldn't return kindness that way."
Maria nervously tries to explain to Kai that she wouldn't do anything to hurt him. She is extremely thankful for his act of kindness because most people from where she is from probably would have just let her die and looted her body. She learned the hard that this world is unforgiving and there aren't many people you can truly trust, and she wants to help the one person who has shown her kindness.
(I would have to be under a soul contract to leave. I don't really have much choice if I want to leave. I could just stay in the tower but I could also run into less understanding adventurers that might straight up kill me. Maria doesn't seem too bad, and honestly.... she was betrayed too, so she might be less likely to hurt me... what the hell, why not. At least this way I will have someone to explore the Tower with, and honestly, I am glad to explore the Tower with such eye candy as her. Wait... I don't have manhood anymore! Am I gonna be a virgin in this life..) After the last thought, Kai became extremely depressed that he might not even be able to have a girlfriend this life so his only experience with girls was with someone who betrayed him.

"Yeah, okay let's do the contract." Kai reluctantly agreed to the contract.
"Really?! I mean, I wasn't expecting you to accept but I am glad I won't be alone anymore.. hehe." Maria became slightly embarrassed as she realized she just told Kai that she was lonely.
"Anyways.. let's start the contract." after she says this she walks up to Kai and puts her hand on the center of his chest, and starts channeling magic into you."
*Ding*
*Someone is attempting to form a soul contract with you. Do you accept? Yes/No*
(Yes)
After Kai accepts the notification, an aura of majestic gold surrounds both Maria and Kai. A small gold butterfly forms on his chest and a gold Knight Helm forms on the back of Maria's hand.
"G..g..gold?! Why is our soul contract level gold?!" Maria is shocked enough she feels like she could faint.
"Huh, why is the crest thing being gold matter?" Kai didn't think that it would be such a big deal.
"A Gold Soul Contract is the rarest kind of contract you can get. There are five levels of contracts you can have for creatures: Grey, Blue, Red, Black, Gold with Grey being the worst, and Gold being the best. Each level of contract provides stronger growth than the last. For instance, Grey level only shares 10% of essence between the familiar and the Contractor and they have to be within a relatively short distance of each other. While the Gold contract provides 100% of the essence gain between the two and over an unlimited difference, meaning we could be on different floors while farming essence. Also, a unique feature of the gold is it provides access to unique abilities the higher level we both are, that we might not be able to normally have. It also provides a +2 bonus stat allocation when you level up. This has only happened once in history and the first one being a dragon. Soul knights are normally at a Blue Contract level. If someone were to tell me yesterday that I would form a Gold contract at level 3 I would think they were trying to scam me. I don't normally believe in fate but I feel like this might actually be fate." Maria was on the verge of hyperventilating. Gold contracts could provide skills like bonus essence, additional skill options when leveling, cheaper skill costs, and more.

(Wow, that's pretty awesome. Maybe it has something to do with being reincarnated? Honestly, this contract is turning out to be a pretty good deal for me.)
*Ding*
*Because of the Gold level Soul Contract, The requirements for level 5 classes have been removed. You may activate your class now.*
(If I had a jaw I am pretty sure it would have crashed into the floor now.)
"Well, it seems that I can actually get my class now because of the contract. It straight up removed the requirements."
"what? Really? That's amazing, some class requirements are pretty tuff to meet. What class are you gonna pick?"
"Soul Eater"
"Huh? I haven't heard of Soul Eater. Maybe it's a unique class because you're a Soul Knight."
"Maybe, but it originally had some pretty tough requirements because of using the skill Soul harvest, which lets me get a bonus stat every for every 10 enemies I slay but decreases my essence gain... wait, since we share essence when you kill things I think I will receive normal amounts of essence. That's insane, I will be able to level up faster and get bonuses stats, sweet."
"That's actually a pretty skill. Plus that's convenient that we got the Gold contract to negate some of the essence you gain."
(Alright give daddy a new class) Kai proceeds to select his class
*Ding*
*You have gained the Soul Eater class*

Please note: the Sexual Content tag is there due to a single brief plot-relevant scene, which has a warning at the beginning. For other details, read the full description below. Rating breakdown, since that should be public info: 5 x 5*, 2 x 4.5*, 1 x 0.5* During a blackout, a frail and ragged old woman stops to ask for a glass of water from a backyard barbecue party. Given a good supper instead, she looks around the group, and tells them, "Be who and what you truly are." Days later, seven of the people from the barbecue find themselves drawn into a trap laid by a pair of wizards and their accomplices, who kidnap them into a bubble reality. All seven, who have known each other all their lives, are informed that they are not in fact entirely human: they have active fae blood, due to a series of conditions culminating with the blessing of the elderly fae woman. The transformation into fae form comes as a shock: all seven, whether originally female or male, find themselves now unreasonably beautiful women. More urgent even than that, though, is their captivity. Getting back to the real world is a higher priority than this metamorphosis that rapidly begins to feel natural... but this is only the first step, as the diverse types of fae blood they carry begin to surface. With no resources except themselves, how can they escape this prison? If they succeed, how can they possibly reclaim their lives? Just how many other faelings have been kidnapped, anyway, and what happened to them? And is there a way to make sure that their captors never put anyone else through this? Back in the real world, Kayla, who learned long ago to trust her gut instincts, is absolutely certain that something is very wrong. The pattern in the list of missing friends is easy to spot, but makes no sense at all. Then a young woman turns up at the backyard gate who knows more than she should, and even though her explanation makes even less sense, every instinct tells Kayla that Riley is her only way to get them back. If they're not quite what they were, well, that's a bridge to cross later... Just a little note: I'm a big believer in endings that are upbeat but not candy-coated, and not a fan of grim-and-gritty or of glamorized violence. These are adults in a difficult situation. However, no one gets raped, and the physical violence is, all things considered, fairly minimal. There is some harassment, sexual and otherwise, and also some mild restraint and mild verbal abuse. Complicating factors are generally wizardly or fae in nature. If I need to warn you about gender in this being all over the map, some of it reality-based rather than fantasy-based, highly diverse sexuality, or that there is (especially later) some indirect fetish/BDSM imagery and honest character discussion, then you probably should just avoid everything I write. :-) Also available on Scribble Hub.

The Fire Within Can Be Scary
In a fantasy world similar to ours, magic worked similarly to physics, with each elemental spirit magic being tied to a state of matter. Earth is solid.Water is liquidAir is gas.Fire is plasma. Four elements, four states of matter. However in the ancient world of Hitarea, "Plasma" hadn't been discovered yet. The people of this world believe that only three states of matter existed, and thus, only three elemental magic could exist. For years, Earth, Water, and Air stood alone as the three main elements from which all others originated. Advanced arts like metal from earth, or Ice from water were only extensions of their original element . . . so what does that make Fire? Fire is powerful as the earth with its mighty explosions, flexible like water as it writhes around in the air, and swift like the wind. All at the same time. Fire, in regards to combat, is the most powerful element by far. This fearsome power is Alden's to master, but this power is a double-edged sword. One shouldn't play around with fire if you don't want to be burned. The fire within can be scary, you know?
