《Living Armor》Reincarnation

Mark was on his way home from his office job to surprise his girlfriend, Hannah, by getting off early. He rarely got off early and to make the day more special he even made reservations at a famous high-end restaurant in the area. Hannah has been with him since they were 15 and they were now 25. For 10 years he has dedicated everything he does to her and worked hard to get her everything she wants. Today was the day he was finally going to propose to her. For the entire 20 minute drive he nervously played with the ring box.
(finally, I am home, that drive felt like an eternity. It's a good thing her car is here, meaning she is home or else my plans might have been messed up)
Mark nervously walked up to the door and almost dropped the keys when trying to open the front door. When he finally stepped inside he froze before he even closed the door. There were men's shoes at the door.
(Weird, I didn't receive any messages from my family saying they were coming over so why…)
As mark looked up he felt a sense of dread, there were both male and female clothes scattered about leading down in the direction of their bedroom.
(no, please don't let this be…)
He steeled himself and trudged in the direction of scattered clothes. As to confirm his fears, the closer he got to the room the more he started to hear moans and sounds of meat slapping together. The closer he got the harder it felt to breathe and squeezing his left fist so hard his nails started digging into his palm dropping blood. The next moment he swung open the door to see his worst nightmare in front of him. His girlfriend being railed behind with her hair being pulled by some fit guy.
(she really did this in OUR OWN BED!!)
"Ahn… Ahn… harder daddy…"
At this moment the world in his lost color and his heart once vibrant and filled with love died. It took a couple of minutes for the couple to realize they were being watched and they turned around and Hannah's face paled as she saw her boyfriend standing there.

"Baby.. I…." Hannah tried to come up with an excuse to fix this situation but Mark interrupted.
"Just don't…" Mark said in a defeated voice then he turned to the guy who is just awkwardly standing there, " why are you still here? Leave."
"But she is my ride" the young man tried to say but Mark wasn't having any of it
"LEAVE" Mark said with enough venom in his voice that the young man flinched and scurried out of the house.
When the man was gone Mark finally turned to his girlfriend who was still naked on the bed.
"So that's what ten years meant to you huh? Ten years I worked hard enough so you didn't have to. Ten years I toiled away in a job I hated but I stuck with it because I could see your smile at home. Ten years Hannah, haha, to think I thought that mattered…"
Hannah went up to Mark and started pleading with him " please forgive me Mark…. I'm sorry… I…" she tried to hug him but he pushed her away and grabbed her hand and placed the box he was so dearly holding with affection in the car.
"Here, I don't have a need for this anymore"
When Hannah saw the box she put her hand over her mouth and started crying but Mark turned and started walking out of the house. She tried to stop him but he simply shrugged her off and left the house and drove off.
(haha to think I thought today was a good day…) ring ring ring…. His phone was off with Hannah's ringtone. He took his eyes off of the road for a second to grab the phone but when looked there was a truck swerving into his side of the road and he didn't have time to react and it crashed into him and everything turned black and he lost consciousness.
After being shrouded in darkness for an unknown amount of time Mark started to gain consciousness.

(ugh… where am I?) he slowly opened his eyes to notice that he was slouched against a stone wall in what seemed to be a tunnel. ( huh? What the…. Didn't I get hit by a truck? Where is this?) as he tried to push himself off of the ground he noticed he was wrapped in what seems to be some kind of armor that was rusty and had cracks in it, but the weirdest part was that a blue light was seeping out of these cracks?
"Ding" there was noise then a blue screen popped up in my vision.
*Congratulations for being reincarnated into the world of Alara, you will be given a system that will help you get stronger. Good luck.*
(Really? That's all it's going to say? *sigh* Am I part of an isekai novel now or something? Well I guess it's better than being in the other world toiling every day for someone that will betray you)
As Mark was trying to digest this unreal situation he noticed in the corner of his a blinking star and three bars. One red and one blue and one green, the red had the number 10 next to it while the blue had the number 5 next to it and the green had a 10 next to it. When Mark tried to focus on the star, to his surprise a window popped up that reminded him of a game.

(WTF?! Okay, I guess I won't name myself then. What is a Soul Knight?) as I was thinking about another notification popped up
*Soul Knight: A nameless animate armor made up of essence that wanders endlessly
(passive): can't name oneself*
(How convenient for the system to tell me like that. Hmmmm? Does that mean someone else can name me? Oh well, I guess it's not important as I can't personally talk out loud now that I think about it.)
(It seems I need to defeat things to get stronger? Gaining essence is key I guess, also it's cool I can assimilate armor to myself. I wonder why I reincarnated as an animate suit of armor? Anyways I won't get anything accomplished by sitting around here so I might as well go find something.)
The nameless Knight proceeded to start walking down this stone hallway lit by blue flames, marking the beginning of his new life.

The Girl from the Mountain
Alexandra Bedford is a weapon, a young woman with telekinetic powers capable of leveling entire cities, born to fight in the desolate remains of post-apocalyptic North America. There is only one problem: she may be losing control of her abilities. Sixteen years after a global pandemic devastated the earth’s population, the lines in the old United States have been drawn between the Cheyenne Directorate in Colorado and the New England Alliance on the East Coast. The Directorate, of which Alexandra is a part, is a small but powerful organization dedicated to returning the country to its former glory. However, when a diplomatic mission to the New England Alliance goes wrong, Alexandra finds herself at the center of a bloody civil war. Battles are fought on the old highways and in dilapidated towns and once-great cities. And as the conflict escalates, all of North America faces the threat of being burnt away by nuclear fire. Against this backdrop of war, Alexandra tries to uncover the long-hidden secrets behind the plague, her abilities, and the two men fighting to decide the fate of the United States - Henry Bedford, Alexandra's father and leader of the Directorate, and John Martin, the mysterious figure at the heart of the New England Alliance who may hold the key to everything she seeks. None of this will matter, however, unless Alexandra can prevent the power growing inside her from taking over and consuming the very world she is fighting to save. Author's Notes: I appreciate you taking a look at my novel, The Girl from the Mountain. If you're a fan of post-apocalyptic fiction, military thrillers, and/or cosmic horror, I think you'll enjoy this story. I completed the novel's first draft back in 2011 and made significant changes in 2016. Since then, I've more-or-less sat on the manuscript while working on other projects. Thanks to a bit of prodding, I've decided to send this story out into the wild with some touch-ups and additional revisions. I welcome any comments or criticisms, and I hope you enjoy The Girl from the Mountain!

The Kind Devil
Five veteran players of the old-fashioned but outdated VRMMO game, Orge's Bone, meet in the game for one last time before leaving forever. As real life friends, they were torn apart by certain matters, and now decided to say goodbye in the way they know best; a free for all battle royale. However, little do they know that fate has a twist to spin. As they fight it out in a folorn map, they stumble upon a secret teleport gate. Out of curioisity, they all enter it. They find a world more graphicly advanced than the current number one game, and NPCs that really don't act like they should. The game settings are similar to Orge's Bone; there are no levels, only physical strenght gains, which is gained by killing monsters and completing quests. They treat the hidden world as their greenhouse– a place to retreat when the real world treats them unfairly. But after a while, they discover no everything is as it seems– that the hidden world is far more dangerous. Michael is a cultivator whose goal in life is to change the tragic martial world, where killing is like breathing, into a land of peace. It will center a lot around how he'll change the perspectives of those around him, and how he tries to draft more cultivators to his cause, starting with the toughest nut to crack, the ruthless, bloodthirsty and easily-triggered Rector. Last but not least, with how he is met by the greatest tragedy and is forced to make the hardest choice.
