The king of the kingdom of Mainz(de facto protagonist)

I glared at her and said, "Let's meet the second prince."

She nodded, and I started walking towards the section of the ball where the second prince's faction was located. I noticed many burly men as I walked towards there. They were noisy and were looking at me with curious glances due to my slender frame. I served in the military from a young age, but I primarily served in the cavalry and paid more attention to tactics.

Even in my past world, I was pretty bad at exercise and was never good at it. I mainly studied, and that habit carried on to this world. Since there wasn't much in the way of entertainment, I mostly read books.

"My brother is right there, talking with his subordinates." said the princess.

When I looked at how she pointed, I saw a well-built man laughing and talking with others. His expression and a scar on his forehead made him seem goofy and scary at the same time.

I walked towards him and said, "Aren't you going to welcome me, prince Fredrick."

He looked towards me and waved at me. He and I are pretty close as we both served in the military. He has also visited me a few times with the princess and played with me during my childhood. He might not be a good ally, but he is a good friend. He is not a good schemer, so I don't have to worry about any schemes from him.

"How is the empire. I hope my sister is treating you well," he said while sneaking a glance at the princess.

He knows all the schemes she inflicted upon me when we were young. I am a reincarnated person, but it takes time for me to get into the mindset of a noble and start scheming. He has saved me a lot of times from the princess and bought me time.

"She has been treating me well. It looks like you are having a lot of fun without me."

He looked embarrassed and said, "It's been some time since I have come from the frontier. So I decided that it was time to treat myself."

I gestured for him to carry on, and he gave me a cup of wine to drink. As a matter of principle, I don't usually drink unless I have to due to the health hazards associated with it and the fact that I get a bit drunk.

"How is the suppression going, are there any rebels that you might be concerned about," I asked him.

"It's mostly the same as usual, although the Uigurs are getting a bit uppity and are making some moves. They probably won't rebel, though."

He gets quite talkative when he gets drunk. He just told me a piece of crucial information to an enemy country without any regard. He always forgets that there is no friendship in politics. I will even attack my wife's country if there are enough benefits for me to.

I made some small talk to him and his friends. Then, after they got extremely drunk, so I left them with the princess. As I was wondering what to do, I remembered that there was the first prince to talk to.

"Let's meet with the first prince," I said.
