A knight colonizer trying to find gold.

"Sir John, we have found a open pit gold mine near the river. We have struck gold after trying to find it for so much time." said my subordinate excitedly and happily.

I have finally struck gold. After exploring for so many months and going into the red mutiple times, we can be rich. So what is the legal process after finding gold again. First you have to defend it against against people before reporting it to the colonial office. After signing some documents regarding the shares and rewards of my team, I can take full control of the mine and the surrounding areas and mine the gold myself or sell it to the government.

Colonial teams usually sell the mines to the government, not because they are idiots and don't have a long term vision but because they didn't have the strength to do it. They would rather have a large amount of starting funds and go back home. But that will not be a problem to me as I have a certain strength and want to make a new life in the Southern continent, the poisonous continent as there isn't much competition here. As long as you don't do anything dumb or stupid, you are basically guaranteed to succed if you have a certain amount of starting funds and political strength. At the least, you can set up a farm and the government wilil subsidize your farm for some time.

That's how the government has been able to emigrate a lot of people to the African continent as there isn't enough land for everyone to cultivate. Anyway, after deciding to garrison the mine with loyal and trusted people, I went back to the city of New Trieste to request the government to recognize my claim. Usually, the Mainz government is quite fast is proccesing any requests. Unlike other countries, the bureaucracy in the Mainz government is quite simple and there aren't complicated chains of command like certain other governments(cough Kildarians cough) and everything is processed quickly and efficiently. One other reason is that there is a large amount of replaceables due to the imperial examinations held every year which puts pressure on them to work better.

Now lets not talk about the imperial examinations. I have some trauma from it. I failed on them as the subjects were just too hard and they were asking all sorts of weird questions. While I was thinking about my future and what should I do, my subourdinate came running to me and said.

"Sir John, there are natives living near the gold mine. We can defeat them but I don't know what to do with them as if we kill them all, our public image will sour and the government will revoke our license." said my subordinate.

Why are there natives living right near the gold. They can't mine it and use so why are they near it. The best way to deal with natives is to kill them all but the government forbids us to as their public image will become too bad which I understand. So labor export companies were created. What they basically do is take the natives and sell them as slaves to the western continent as there is a deificency of population there and slaves are needed to plant the crops. They are called labor export comapnies as slavery in Mainz is illegal.

"Call an labor export company and give them the rights to the natives." I said to my subordinate. Natives in this era had no rights, did they and surely our dear kings wants it.
