I really need to create a navy. I wanted to do it in the last few months but I didn't have enough funds and I didn't feel like it was the right time to provoke the Kildarians. We had an admiralty in our country and a minister of navy but they have no power and our navy is only useful to fight against the smugglers and do some naval policing.

To start colonies, you need a worth navy or nobody will take you seriously in international affairs. One reason why the British in my past world were able to have the largest colonial empire and maintain it for so many years is due to their large navy. The pattern is also repeated in this world with the Kildarians having the largest colonial empire and having the largest navy. I don't want to have the largest navy right now as I don't want to provoke the Kildarians too much just yet, but 4th or 3rd place should be nice.

Mainz is primarily a land powered country and the reason Kildarians were able to invest so much in their navy was because they were an island nation. Due to their overinvestment in the navy, their army is to say mildly trash. I have confidence that they can't defeat any of the great powers in army strength. They theoretically have the largest army in the world but most of it was manned by indigenous people and the ratios in fights against armies with whites was 8:1. I am not being racist, the reason was that they had extremely bad weapons and sometimes fought without weapons. They were basically sent to drain the opossing armies of their energy and to make the enemy run out of their arrows.

"What is the new naval plan that we have." I asked the admiralty.

"Your majesty, we are planning to build new galleys to increase our influence. We also have plans to build caravels to explore the southern continent according to our national strategy. We are also investing some money into research of the Carracks to increase the strength of the navy."

Galleys in this world didn't have cannons yet so they fought ship to ship and didn't try to sink the enemy ships from a distanced. Caravels are basically light ships used for exploration and some fighting. Carracks have appeared on the world stage but they are not widespreadly used.

"Don't build any new ships except caravels for now. Start investing most of your money in naval artillery and gunpowder and see how they can be used in ships. After you have made breakthroughs in artillery technology, make sure to use them mainly in carracks. Galley are less useful for us. I will order the minister of finance to provide you a funding if 30,000 marks."

He wiped of a bit of sweat from his forhead and leaved the room. He must have been a bit scared due to the choice of words that I used. I said after instead of if so I am expecting him to make a breakthrough and if he does not, he will be liquadated. I can't buy the loyalty and love of the politcians so let's atleast make them fear me. The people will love me but the politicians will fear and respect me.

"Your majesty, there is new from the Karaman empire." said Felix.
