The next day, me and the diplomatic delegation of the Lombards met in a room.

"Your majesty, we hope that you support the Lombards in fighting against the Florentians. The Florentians have overthrown their king and have installed a republican government. We have to bring them back into the embrace of monarchy under the rule of the Lombards." She said with a righteous expression on her face.

"Of course, we must bring them back to the embrace of the monarchy, I hope the kingdom of Lombardy can do this noble task." I said with a smile on my face.

I thought that I could see a sight fluctuation on her face due to suprise but maybe I was just imagining it.

"We will acquiesce to your expansion of Florence if you acquiesce to our future expansion." I said with a serious expression.

"Well, that depends on your expansion." She said.

"We are planning to expand north and liberate the kingdom of Galicia." I said.

"You can expand into the kingdom of Galicia as long as you don't expand further." She said

"Yes, we wont." I said.

She discussed it with other people about wheter this will be beneficial to them and they seem to have accepted it.

"We want to sign a secret treaty as if this get revealed the Kildare will try to stop our expansion." She said.

The Kildare kingdom was currently had the best diplomatic methods in the world with us closely following. They organized and made 6 coalitions to fight against the Lombardians and hadn't actually fought the Lombards themselves except in the navy. They were in the north and you couldn't get to them due to the sea and the only way to actually invade them was to use a navy which happend to be the thing they were hegemons of. They had small population and had conflicts with the Lombards and the Empire. The technological level of this world is extremely intresting. This world has the military level of 15th century and closely resembles to that of the 100 years war. The technological development is a bit ahead but the most intresting is the societal development as there are parliments and there is nationalism. Nationalism rose in to prominence after the Napoleonic wars. I am not sure how this happend but I suppose it could be possible even if there isn't a printing press.

My plan for the Lombards is for them to expand which will cause a coalition to form. After the coalition war starts, me and another country will attack the winner and take some of their land. For this, I was planning to form an alliance with the Danuban empire.
