《The First Primordial [DROPPED]》Chapter 9 - Group of misfits

While on my way, I take my time to use my new connection to find out just what suddenly became my pet. Apparently they feed on mana but are also very carnivorous when they need to be which explains why Eden started absorbing my mana and why that person was reduced to shreds, the more physical aspects of Eden are harder to grasp like whether or not they are a boy or a girl.

Though it is frustrating I don't even know the gender of my companion I decide that as the connection grows I will be able to find out more so I am focusing on just enjoying having someone to share my travels with, even if it is a nightmare creature with a mouth for a face I still enjoy the company.

While walking through the flatland I start analyzing my connection to Eden as something feels slightly off, it feels familiar to my connection to the Voice but different, almost a distorted mix of myself and the Voice. I suppose this is why they didn't try to eat me straight away and let me tame it.

If I have a connection to the Voice and Eden, what stops me having a connection to my glaive?

I raise my glaive and squint at the slight golden glow coming off it before I start pushing my mana into it. The glow grows brighter and I feel something happen but it is not quite the same as the two connections I already have, but I can tell it is similar.

Maybe it's similar to my mana manipulation, can I bring it back to me like I did with the leaves back near the lake?

I change how I hold it and bring it into a javelin throwing position before I throw it at a nearby rock. A smirk spreads on my face as the rock gets nearly obliterated and the glaive goes deep into the rock before I start using my hybrid connection to bring it back to myself. It flies violently through the air in a haphazard way making it difficult to catch.

Shit, forgot to make sure to visualise what I wanted and how much force to use.

I dodge out of the way where the glaive rushes past and travels for a good few meters before skidding to a halt. Eden gives me a look while I grumble and pick up the glaive again, continuing on before they can damage my pride further.

The mountain is starting to come into view after we have been walking for a while but no sign of life is visible still, whether it is because the mountain is just that far away, or because it is in a crevice or something I don't know. What I can see however is a few spells being used in the distance and the occasional explosion, getting to the edge of a nearby cliff I am able to look at the scene in more detail.

A group of 5 people, ranging from 1 hooded person and 4 people in black leatherish armor appear to be fighting a second group of creatures. Surprisingly they were not the standard 3 mouthed creatures, but were nearly completely black, 6 legged and furry spider creatures with a white sphere taking up their face. The sphere could be called their eye but there is no pupil or iris visible, just a plain white sphere on a black fuzzy body.

The size of the spiders were bigger than normal 3 mouths but still smaller than Eden, though there were only 2 of them facing the group of 5 people, the people seem to struggling with the spiders as one of the black leather armor people with swords get knocked by one of the spiders legs straight into the base of the cliff I am on.

Stay here, get out of sight. I send to Eden as I simply walk off the cliff to fall next to the black armored person.

I hope my legs don't break. I think to myself as I subconsciously send mana to my legs to strengthen them as I start falling towards the right of the person who is just starting to get up, but stumbles slightly and falls to one knee. They start trying to get up again when I land next to them.

"Hi, you alright kid?" I say simply as I look over to the startled person and back to the fight. He appears to be the only one who got injured, everyone else seems more wary.

"Want me to help out?" I say as I crouch to look at him more closely, he looks badly bruised on a majority of his body with a few deep gashes on his arms from where he probably blocked strikes from the spiders. He has standard main character dirty brown hair with mysterious blue eyes, his well defined face and body doesn't help with his main character status.

As his blue eyes finally match my gaze he hesitates for a few moments before a faint nod can be seen, "Sure thing." I laugh out as I use my glaive to prop myself up and focus myself back on the battle.

My eyes sharpen as my playful demeanor fades away in an instant, whatever instincts I got from the Voice sharpen as I hold out my left hand, beginning to form a simple golden mana sphere about 5 centimeters in diameter. Barely 5 seconds pass before a blinding beam of gold and blue energy shoots towards a spider just about to strike against another of the black leathered people.

With my aim perfected by my mana manipulation, it strikes straight into the eye of one of the spiders, little resistance is offered as it goes through and straight out the back of the spider's head. It falls like a puppet cut from its strings as blood begins to pool out of the 5 centimeter wide hole in its face before I grip my glaive in a thrusting position.

The second spider barely has time to react to the first spider's untimely demise before I teleport on its back, glaive facing the back of the spider's head, before I push my glaive through its skull.

Blood and bone splatters as my glaive cuts through its thick skull and skin like a dagger through paper before it sticks out the other side, blade straight through its white eye, before I quickly pull my glaive back out as the spider drops on the ground. Kicking up ash, dust and blood in the process as I rest the bud of my glaive on its back, slowly glazing over the four frozen solid people.

The blue eyed man slowly walks over to join his comrades, glancing between the dead spiders, his companions and me before he does a double take on me and the spider I am standing on in a casual position. I wave at them with an innocent smile before I jump off the spider to join them, slowly walking over before I stop just over 5 meters away.

Taking in the group I notice that the one in the hood seems different, I can't see their obscured face because of said hood so I move on to the four Leather armored people. 2 of them are around the same height and have black hair, with one having a slightly bushy black beard to compliment while the other has only a slight stubble. One is a slightly smaller petite girl that has a surprisingly menacing look in their crimson red eyes and short shoulder length silver-grey hair.

Lastly, is a younger man that is taller than the girl but noticeably smaller then the two twin-like black haired men. He gives me contradicting vibes as he holds a massive two-handed axe in one hand with dark purple hair and eyes.

What an odd, merry band of misfits. I like them.

Finally the most normal looking person makes it back to the group, rubbing the back of his neck while limping slightly. He looks surprisingly better than when he crashed into the cliff.

"Hey again, are you doing better?" I ask as I sneak a quick look at his legs before returning my eyes back to his. My apparently obvious glance at his legs were noticed though as he did a faint chuckle.

"Heh, yeah I’ve been better. Thank you, for the help I mean." he says as he looks at the ground again, before doing yet another neck rub.

"It was fine. And easy too apparently." I say as I look back first to the smoldering spider and then the one with a large cut through its face, noticing the eyes have lost its white colour and turned into a dark brown, I conclude they must have been an important body part before turning back.

My musings are interrupted as the young man with the axe and purple hair opens his mouth.

"Do you two know each other or something, do you mind telling us who the hell you are?" he says with obvious annoyance with a slight smirk, suggesting he isn't as annoyed as he wanted me to think.

"Yes, I would like to know too. Nice spear by the way, mind if I have a look?" the silver haired girl says straight after. The tone is unreadable as she stares longingly at my glaive with a glint in her crimson red eyes.

"Sure thing to the first question, no to the second. My name is Arthur, and I live waaay over there." I say as I point towards my "house" by the lake, which is currently so far away I can't even see the snow field properly. Just a faint blur of white and the massive pillar signifying where I came from.

"I also am looking for a nice place to stay, so where did you people come from?"

"...so where did you people come from?" The stranger said, not a hint of uncertainty with a calm, confident voice makes it surprisingly easy to trust him. However I look back at the 2 obliterated Adult Darkness Spiders that were taken out with almost too much ease.

The look he gave me when he started appraising us made me shiver, but it only lasted for a split second before his charismatic smile returned, as his dark grey silver hair seemed to almost flow into his charmingly innocent face even though there was no wind.

I can understand the look as I am the only one wearing a hood due to my rare ability to use magic, not only is being magically gifted hard to achieve but my ability in light magic makes me a rare commodity everywhere.

My team doesn't seem to realise the magic power this random stranger used, gold magic and mana is considered the top of the magic world. The standard blue magic is difficult to get and use, light blue is rare and only used by official kingdom mages while golden magic and mana is so stupid rare it is only ever used by the church and kingdom grandmages.

And he just took out two A- beasts in quick, effortless fashion using an extremely rare amount of magic. I am lucky that this hood hides my face this well, as he either didn't care or didn't notice my nervous look.

While all this internal monologing is taking place I hear my name get called.

"Oh hey, if you want to know where the main camp is. You can talk to Arazari, the chick with the hood. I am Jamie, the brown haired guy is Josh" My purple haired friend says with a smile and mocking tone. That idiot could have doomed us, what is he thinking?!

"Cool thanks, she uses magic right?" He says in his standard casual tone, but fails to hide an amused tone as he swaggers on towards my position.

Crap.

I look on with envy at the confidence he has in his abilities and skills, before he stands a thankfully standard distance away so he still can't see my face under the hood.

"Y-yes, I know w-where the main camp is..." I stutter out, cursing my social skills while trying to keep my eyes on his exotic golden-red eyes that almost pierce my very soul.

The fuck? Who has eyes like that, he is like a mix between Jamie and Myarae the red and silver demon that joined us. Wait, is he a demon too?

"Um.. So you wanna tell me where it is, or do I have to ask nicely or something. May I please know where the camp is?" He says with apparent musing as he rubs his flawless chin with his left hand, while his right holds his obviously rare glaive.

Done with his teasing I reply with more confidence than normal.

"I want to know why you want to know first, or are you a demon like Myarae over there?"

I say with more disdain than normal, it is no secret that I didn't want demons in this party. We are supposed to be hunting those terrifying, no faced monsters called the Primordial Decendants or something like that. It would be so much easier if they weren't so quiet and didn't like to keep to themselves.

I just want to get my pay from this hunt and get out of this stupid realm, it sucks here. What kind of primordial would live here that they would send us on this dumb hunt, it is common knowledge only 2 exist.

I stand there looking at the hooded person that obviously doesn’t like my kind, but with the look she is trying to hide behind her hood, I am given contradictory feelings, it is a weird mix between admiration, fear, distrust and awe.

So finding no reason to lie, not that I would be good at it anyway, I do a loud chuckle and reply honestly.

“I have no idea, I am just bored. Also yes I am a demon or at least I am pretty sure I am.” I say with a grin and amusement in my eyes before I let my grin fade and look seriously into her eyes. The silver haired girl reacted slightly to what I said but I can’t tell what part of the sentence was so interesting.

She takes a slight step back before my laughing shocks her and she tilts her head in confusion. She opens her mouth to speak before I raise a head, cutting both her and my laughing off, I continue.

“I don’t care that much, I just want to go visit the camp or whatever. If that isn’t illegal or something.” I say and again look seriously into her eyes to signify the end of discussion.

She reluctantly pointed her finger towards the mountain I was going to, as I suspected whatever “camp” these people came from was over there. Before I can start walking away the silver haired girl out of nowhere speaks for the first time.

“If you like I can show you where the better demon kingdom is. you don’t strike me as someone from there.” she says in a suspicious manner, there was a hint of something else in there as well but I refuse to believe flirting. More like someone after something then genuine interest.

“Uh huh.. You can point me where, but I am not going to lie, you seem very suspicious. Even as another demon.” I admit with brutal honesty in a simple manner.

The purple haired man called Jamie starts loudly laughing and wheezing while the guy called Josh seems to chuckle, though sadly the girl with the hood stays deathly silent. Same with the two black haired men that no one bothered to introduce.

“Sure” the silver haired girl says simply without a hint of being angry, and begins to point towards one of the larger floating diamonds in the distance.

“We built the main town there, just go to the giant floating rock and you can’t miss it.” she again said simply, but there were obvious signs of pride in her voice.

“Thanks, I guess we will be on our way. Eden, you can come out now!” I shout out while looking at a slightly out of place smooth boulder on the cliff.

I hope they don’t try to hurt Eden, wouldn’t want to kill the first people I met in this world. Even though I like them, I like Eden more.

I look at the two men with black hair again, why they haven't said anything yet is a bit concerning but I ignore it and turn back to Eden slowly returning to their standard creepy humanoid shape.
