《The First Primordial [DROPPED]》Chapter 7 - Exploration

After an undetermined amount of time I was able to create the perfect cube, the edges are sharp and proportioned exquisitely. Holding it high above my head I take in my masterpiece, looking over every detail as I run my finger along the edge.

"Ow! Damn, what the hell?" I yelped in surprise.

The edge is a lot sharper than I thought and cuts into my index finger leaving a small trickle of blood, the first time in this world I got injured and it was my own fault. I don't know whether to be proud or ashamed.

Quickly moving past my embarrassment I look at my finger again but find the cut is already gone, I would believe that I was imagining things if it wasn't for the small amount of blood being still there. Interested, I do it again and keep a close eye on what happens to my body and mana circuit.

Ignoring the sting, I watch as almost instantly my mana circuit notices the wound and works to heal it before it has a chance to even properly start bleeding. So I of course use my golden glowing hand armor and do it a third time. I noticed that the blanket feeling was, as I predicted, not just a feeling as not a scratch appears on my finger when I run it across the edge.

Finished and pleased with my testing I start delicately walking to my house to add my cube to my collection and start making a tool I came up with.

Using the edge of the cube as inspiration. I start making a staff like object using what I now call mana creation with the length just slightly larger than my height. adding a sharp edge to one of the ends making a spear out of rock, getting carried away, I started adding the sharp edge along both sides about a fifth of the way down making my spear look more like a glaive than a spear.

Looking back at the lake I start wondering if the water can affect my glaive-spear like it affected me, to continue my trend of experimentation I start walking towards it while getting used to the weight of the glaive.

As I stare at every detail in my now glowing golden glaive hybrid I start admiring the shape and detail of the rock that is surprisingly metal-like. The shape compliments the golden glow with a steel like sheen with small intricacies that would normally just be uneven or unsmooth rock. But in combination with my weapon adds a large amount of grip and detail that looks much better than a perfectly smooth steel pole, probably stronger too.

All this comes together with the magical golden glow and superb sharp edge making quite a deadly and elegant weapon that could both cut through pure steel and be shown in an art museum, which would make this my best work yet, surpassing even the perfect cube I made.

Taking a look first at my house and the small pile of what is probably very expensive material shaped into different objects, then a look at my mountain of cubes and finally a look at the view of the lake. I took it all in for a few minutes then set off towards the lava ravine to go to the nearby massive pillar in the beginning to see what was behind it.

While walking the fairly long distance to the lava ravine my mind wanders to the creature I saw so long ago.

What was it doing? Why was it there? And are there more?

The thought makes me shudder as I picture thousands of faceless and massive monsters sitting there unmoving while facing me, the vivid images make me grip slightly harder on my glaive as I start seeing the signature orange glow and smoke from a small ravine in the ground.

As I stand on the ledge I scan the surroundings for any sign of life, seeing absolutely nothing, my heart starts beating just slightly faster as I remember the eerie silence that the creature walked away in. Which combined with the fact that I hear nothing but the bubbling of lava and wind over the landscape doesn't help my nervousness.

Putting all my senses on overdrive I start using my mana to fulfil my early wish to float over the ravine.

Landing on the other side I would have thought I would be happy. But my face remains neutral as I keep an eye out for any creatures around, while It did feel good to finally beat the floating diamond. I did not enjoy it as much as I would have.

Taking a few more minutes to make sure nothing is about, I start walking forward on an angle towards the massive pillar connecting the floor and roof of this unground world. As the familiar sound of crunching ash under my shoes helps replace the eerie silence I slowly start relaxing again and my breathing stabilizes as I remember where the creature ran to, quickly glancing back to the massive volcano-like mountain in the distance.

Seeing nothing but rock and stone I move my eyes back to the pillar in the distance and realise its massive size will mean it will take quite some time to reach. After doing a few small teleports and seeing that nothing has tried to consume me I ease out of my combat stance I unconsciously found myself in. Starting to take normal paces again using my glaive as a walking stick to get up the occasional hill on the way.

Starting to wish I brought my lake water with me I realised just how much of an influence the water had on me. Just being near it helped my mood immensely but now would have been the best time to drink while trying to walk as quietly as I can. Every step both makes a calming, silence breaking crunch while also possibly betraying my position to an unknown amount of creatures that live in this realm.

The most comforting thought is that though I do like resting and sleeping, it appears to not be fully necessary. I am able to keep this pace up without getting tired and it allows me to keep my perception up to one hundred. The foreboding sense of the pillar towering over me doesn't help with this feeling either.

The fuck am I doing this for anyway, it was nice and safe at the lake.

My thoughts about my reason for doing this were sadly interrupted as I approached the top of a rather large hill that overlooked the last few kilometers before the base of the pillar. The scale comes into focus as everything in my vision goes upwards at an impressive scale.

If you didn't look anywhere else you would swear you were looking at a wall, but when I look left or right, I am reminded that this is not a unique scene. The many other pillars that grow in the distance combined with the many other smaller ones put into perspective that this world is larger, and emptier than I had thought.

Ignoring my surpassed expectations, I look back at the landscape just before the grand pillar finally realising that some of the ground is not like the rest. Some of the boulders don't match the others, some are flatter while some are smoother than others.

Somethings not right here.

Deciding that something is fishy I stop walking and crouch near the top of the hill, propping myself up with my glaive overlooking these weird shaped boulders. The ground looks much more bumpy than normal and screams suspicious. While my attention was glued to the ground, in the corner of my vision I looked up and saw a familiar shape slowly crawling down the massive pillar.

The 3 mouthed creature with its lanky and over extended arms are blending in with the rock while about one fifth of the way up the pillar. It's long arms allow it to make efficient and long movements in silence, so it won't be long until it reaches the ground. Panicking only slightly my eyes dart back to the ground while adrenaline starts pumping through my body.

That's no boulder, they are all blending in with the ground.

My slight panic starts rising as my eyes open as wide as possible and time slows, as the boulders start transforming into the signature shape of the 3 mouth creatures. Once they have finished getting out of their spot they all start facing my direction. My worst fears are realised when in complete fucking silence they all stare at me in their faceless fassion in unmoving horror.

I am frozen still watching the display when I accidently mutter, "How are they so quiet, is that even possible?!" The last part comes out louder than it should have considering the situation and I cover my mouth in reflex.

Shit, that was dumb.

The horrifying stare off continues as neither side makes a move. I was about to make my grand getaway when a single creature near the front slowly started making its way towards me. It makes no sudden movements and appears completely calm which gives me conflicting feelings.

Not willing to move, I watch as it starts climbing my hill over towards my position with sure, steady movements like it can see where it is going. Watching in equal parts terror and amazement on how the creature even knows where it's going I forget to move away. Only when it is a few dozen meters away do I snap out of my daze.

I stand up and slowly back away, glancing between the swarm of hundreds behind the creature, and the single creature itself before it stops just 5 meters away and looks at me expectantly.

It's body shows no signs of being hostile before it suddenly goes back into the pouncing position the one back at the lava ravine did. Before I can even react I look behind the now lowered creature at the hundreds of creatures behind it doing the exact same thing.

Hesitantly, I slowly start stepping over towards the creature with my hand outstretched.
