《Primal Cosmic Sage: A Marvel Fanfic》Chapter 15: The Hyborian Age.

Ramun stared wide-eyed at the senile wizened old dude that was happily roasting and eating 'his' mutated fish, which in fact he had spent much of his effort, time, and energy in catching.
Ignoring the fact that this asshole impostor was eating his hard-earned grub, and also the fact that by calling the world that he had just transmigrated into, a completely different name other than "Earth", this asshole had just thrown him a very wide curveball.
He had been expecting something else, but certainly not this.
"Hy...boria?", Ramun asked tentatively, not sure what to think or say.
"Hmmn, well not exactly, I call it that because the strongest kingdoms currently are those from Hyborian lands," Zahur responded happily, munching on the well-done roasted fish, blissfully unaware of the rude thoughts running through Ramun's mind.
"They basically have the biggest d***s, so they have the right to fuck everyone over, "Zahur murmured, still enamored by his meal.
[It was at this time that Ramun noticed the discrepancy in Zahur's speech. If before he spoke like someone from medieval times, he's current speech had become more coherent and he spoke more like a cranky old man from modern times, he had also noticed that he no longer spoke in English. Taking note of this little mystery and shelving it for later, he listened to the content of Zahur's tale.]
A long time ago, thousands upon thousands of years ago a great cataclysm caused the destruction of Atlantis and Lemuriathe two most prominent kingdoms at the time.
After the cataclysm, a great colony of them had already settled along the mountains of Valusia's Southern frontier.
Atlantis' kingdom on the main continent also escaped the common ruin, and to it came thousands of their tribesmen, fleeing in ships from the sinking land.
Many Lemurians also made their way to the Eastern coast of the Thurian continent, only to be enslaved by the ancient race which already dwelt there. And their history, for thousands of years, became a story of brutal servitude.
"Thurian continent ?"Ramun thought, probably the name on which those two Kingdoms had lain.
"it's surprising that Atlantis had once been on land, as he'd always mentally associated the name with an underwater kingdom."
Ramun turned his focus once again back on the old man's tale.
In the Western part of the continent, thick jungles covered the plains, wild mountains were heaved up, and lakes covered the old cities in fertile valleys.
Forced to battle continually for their lives, the Atlanteans yet managed to retain vestiges of their former state of advanced barbarism. Then, their struggling culture came into contact with the powerful Pictish nation.
The stone-age kingdoms clashed, and in a series of bloody wars, the outnumbered Atlanteans were hurled back into savagery, and the evolution of the Picts was halted.
Five hundred years after the cataclysm, the barbaric kingdoms had vanished.
To the far South, untouched by the cataclysm, is veiled in mystery, its destiny still pre-human.

But a remnant of one of the non-Valusian civilized nations dwells among the low mountains of the Southeast. They are the Zhemri.
Meanwhile, in the far North, other people came into existence.
A band of barely human savages had fled thither to escape destruction, they found the icy countries inhabited only by a species of snow-apes, whom they fought and drove beyond the arctic circle, to perish, as the savages thought. The primitive humans then adapted to their hardy new environment and survived.
Then, another lesser cataclysm further altered the appearance of the original continent and left a great inland sea to separate East and West. The earthquakes, floods, and volcanoes completed the ruin of the barbarians, already begun by their fierce tribal wars.
A thousand years later, wandering bands of ape-men exist without human speech, fire, or tools.
These were the descendants of the once-proud Atlanteans. To the Southwest dwell scattered clans of degraded cave-dwelling savages, primitive of speech, yet still retaining the name of Picts.
Far to the East, the enslaved Lemurians had risen and destroyed their masters. They were savages, stalking the ruins of a strange civilization. The survivors of that civilization had come westward, overthrowing the pre-humans of the south and founding a new kingdom called Stygia.
"F*****k me sideways, "Ramun thought in disbelief, the history of this world was so thrilling.
In the North, one tribe grew: the Hyborians or Hyboai. Their god is Bori, some great chief whom legend has raised to the status of a deity.
1,500 years in the snow-country had made them a vigorous and warlike race.
A wanderer to the North at about this time had returned with the news that the Northern icy wastes were inhabited by ape-like men, descended from the beasts driven out of the more habitable land by the Hyborians' ancestors.
To exterminate these creatures, a small band of warriors had followed him beyond the arctic circle.
None returned.
And meanwhile, the tribes of the Hyborians drifted ever southward, to make the following age an epoch of wandering and conquest.
1,500 years after the lesser cataclysm which created the inland sea, tribes of tawny-haired Hyborians had moved southward and westward, conquering and destroying many of the small unclassified clans.
As yet, these conquerors have not come in contact with the older races. To the Southeast, the descendants of the Zhemri are beginning to seek to revive some faint shadow of their ancient culture.
To the West, the apish Atlanteans had begun the long hard climb back toward true humanity, while to the South of them, the Picts remained savages, apparently defying the laws of nature by neither progressing nor retrogressing.
And, far to the South lay the ancient, mysterious kingdom of Stygia.
On its Eastern borders wander clans of nomadic savages already known as the sons of Shem, while next to the Picts, in the broad Valley of Zingg, protected by great mountains, a nameless band of primitives has created an advanced agricultural system and life.

Meanwhile, the first of the Hyborian kingdoms has come onto existence, the rude and barbaric kingdom of Hyperborea, which had its beginnings in a crude fortress of boulders heaped to repel tribal attack.
There are few more dramatic events in history than the rise of this fierce kingdom, whose people turned abruptly from nomadic life to rear dwellings of naked stone, surrounded by cyclopean walls.
All this time, far to the East, the Lemurians are evolving a strange semi-civilization all their own, built on the wreckage of the one they overthrew.
The Hyborians, meanwhile, have founded the kingdom of Koth, on the borders of the pastoral lands of Shem.
The savages of the lands of Shem, through contact with the Hyborians and the ever ravaging Stygians, are slowly emerging from barbarism.
Far to the North, the first kingdom of Hyperborea is overthrown by another tribe which, however, retains the old name.
Southeast of Hyperborea, a kingdom of the Zhemri has come into being, under the name of Zamora.
To the Southwest, invading Picts have merged the agricultural dwellers of the fertile Valley of Zingg.
This mixed-race in turn would be conquered by a roving tribe of Hybori, and from these mingled elements will come to be the kingdom called Zingara.
500 years later, the kingdoms of the world are clearly defined. The kingdoms of the Hyborians - Aquilonia, Nemedia, Brythunia, Hyperborea, Koth, Ophir, Argos, Corinthia, and the Border Kingdom - dominate the Western world.
Zamora lies to the East, Zingara to the Southwest of these.
Far to the South sleeps Stygia, untouched by foreign invasions, though the peoples of Shem have exchanged the Stygian yoke for the less galling one of Koth.
The Stygians have been driven South of the great river Styx, also called Nilus or Nile, which empties into the Western Sea.
North of Aquilonia are the Cimmerians, ferocious savages untamed by any invaders.
Descended from the ancient Atlanteans, they are progressing more rapidly than their old enemies, the Picts, who dwell in the wilderness West of Aquilonia.
....
Ramun stared into the raging bonfire silently, stunned at the shocking development of the world, from what he had gathered from the free history lesson he was been given, the world he was in was actually Earth, but of a different Era, a bygone era.
From the descriptions that Zahur had been giving about the kingdoms of this world, he could see faint shadows of the myriad countries that had populated his Earth in some of these kingdoms, cross-referencing that with the names that had stuck out like sore thumbs in his mind earlier, he could almost ascertain that he was an Era way past recorded history on this Earth in the Marvel Universe.
From the Kingdom where his predecessor had lived, "Stygia", that was before he passed on into the great unknown, he could vaguely sense the customs that were similar to that of Ancient Egypt.
With that thought, he could see that most likely this was an Era in which a strong Human civilization had thrived.
For such a strong civilization, to completely disappear from the annals of history, either oral or recorded was a sobering thought.
Furthermore, this civilization hadn't been mentioned in any of the Marvel movies, and he wasn't sure about the comics, as he hadn't been that much of a fan of comics, his interest had lain in much more erotic and seedier forms of art.
"Speaking of comics, Oi system !"
[Yes, host]
"Do you have all the comics made by Marvel Comics, as well as the movies made by Marvel Studios in your database?"
[Affirmative, host]
[All publications made by Marvel comics and its cinematic counterpart in the Movie industry have been stored in the database]
"Hmmmn, that's great, at least I wouldn't be going into this world blind."
"Create a memo, reminding me to later check it out."
[Noted, host]
Now back to this senile Old coot, from his memories he knew that the Hyborian kingdoms were not the only kingdoms in this bloody world, he at least knew that some of the women he had carnal knowledge of were dark-skinned and had come from some region called the[Black kingdoms].
His useless predecessor hadn't known anything other than chasing tail, which in hindsight wasn't all that bad considering the lack of better entertainment or more importantly, Judgement.
"E..hem, "coughing Ramun tried gaining, Zahutr's attention as the Old man regaled him of dashing knights and ancient sorcerers.
"E..hum, "Ramun coughed once again in embarrassment, pushing aside the discomfort of having to entertain this suspected cosmic being in human clothing.
"What is it, boy? I was just getting to the good part"Zahur's barked in annoyance, his attention dragged away from his heroic storytelling.
"The f**ck, "Ramun thought inwardly, looking at the old man in a wronged manner, collecting himself, he tried asking about all the kingdoms in this world, and all the other supernatural or mundane matters of this world.
Zahur although exasperated decided to tell the young lad, everything as he would need all the information to survive this adventurous but cruel world.
Their talk went on for a long time, lasting until the early morning, at which time Ramun had already nodded off into the land of dreams.

New Game (Reborn as a Reluctant Demon Lord, Book 1)
Portal Fantasy. Isekai. A daydream of nerds everywhere, leaving behind their boring world and living in a fantasy one that is full of adventure. A daydream that became a reality for me and 1000 other Comic-Con attendees. Except for me, it was more of a nightmare. Wanting nothing more than to find a way home, and also saddled with being the world's new [Demon Lord], I found myself trapped in a gamelike world and also somehow a part of the [Hero's] party. So join me as I tell the tale of my struggles. A tale of levels and skills. A tale of cagey game admins and bugs. And a tale of our party's grand quest to defeat... Well... Me. ---- What to expect from this book? 1. A main character who is not overpowered (and instead has to go from near-useless to strong. Not just weak to strong). If you are looking for an OP [Demon Lord] who laughs at his weakling enemies... This isn't for you. 2. A meandering pace as the characters aren't told how a lot of the world works and have to figure it out themselves. (And because there are a lot of characters. Whose idea was it to have a party of 9? I blame Jake) 3. A tragedy. A lot of things are not going to go well for the protagonist. (Not that everything is tragedy all the time. There is humor, laughter, friendship, and even a mascot monster character who got way more popular than I expected. But this is not a story that will leave you uplifted and inspired after every time you read it). ---- Release Schedule and publishing information: Book 1 is complete! I will include a link to book 2 once it has been started. Feel free to give feedback, positive or negative. ---- Other notes Book 1? Yes, this says Book 1. There are probably going to be 3 books. No, the plot as you can guess is not going to be tortured to drag out all the way to book 3. That would be ridiculous. If you can guess the plot of books 2 or 3 at any point before the last chapter of book 1, please use your clairvoyant powers for something more productive. TitusGM? This story is intentionally told under the username TitusGM because the idea is that he was the one actually writing everything down what happened after it all is over. I initially planned to answer everything in character on this site, but that just really didn't work out. If you want an in character response to a comment, simply prefix it with IC: (I also try to leave that as a reminder in the author's note after each new chapter) Cover art? 8 75Revolver
Theo Lane is chosen to be the avatar of a deity to partake in a tournament to decide the One God. He isn’t the only one. No. There are a lot more than he would like. Of course the apathetic high-school student would never agree to the desperate pleas of the said goddess, but there was a reward for the winner. He could become a god himself if he won. The greatest hassle was the stage itself. Instead of Earth, it would be on another planet with technology similar to the medieval ages with a few twists. A planet thrice the size of Earth with denizens of its own, with a history of its own. There was only one wish in his life, and that was to bring back the one he failed to protect. If murdering every other person in the world was what it would take, so be it. It was his only chance.
