《When Death walked the world》Chapter 26

Ainz stood up after a deal well made only to notice that there was a witness. He would question her later, but for now he had things to do.

Maybe something important had evaded his perception while he focused on the Yellow King, so it wouldn't be too bad hearing the events from someone else as well. He reached out with his hand and cast {Boosted magic: Sleep}. The girl just fell over like a puppet whose strings have been cut, when he had an ominous premonition.

He felt something sharp impaling him, he looked down only to see a slightly visible talon the size of a grown man's arm protruding from his chest cavity.

He could hear faint laughter in the distance, as he felt his grasp on dear life loosening. He was betrayed, the deal which so clearly favored him has been broken. Of course, it was too easy, too tempting, how could he fall for such an obvious lie?

Now he would pay the price for his foolishness, for his naivety with his life. Time slowed to a crawl as he saw his body collapsing to the ground, his Hp was in the red, however when was the last time it wasn't? His eyes were glued to his makeshift HUD, he watched as his 1,3% Hp trickled down ever so slowly,

No, it couldn't end here! He wouldn't allow it! He couldn't face his comrades saying that Ainz Ooal Gown was lost in time's vast desert, just because his good faith was betrayed, just because he was attacked from behind.

His mind went into overload, as for the first time ever since coming here he pressured it to the utmost limits to win every millisecond he could use to come up with a solution. He tried many spells simultaneously among them were {Greater Lethal}, which still didn't work, and only served to corrupt his magics further. He also tried stopping time, however even in stopped time his Hp continued to fall.

Why? He didn't understand, but the world was out to get him. To eradicate him, but why? He would vent his frustration on the world later. Now, he needed to solve the problem at hand.

He thought hard what to do, his eyes wandered to his rings.

He cast {Wish upon a star} yet the spell circle broke, it couldn't fulfill his desire. It was beyond its power.

He rampaged through his inventory, throwing around hundreds of useless items, all used to lessen or clear status afflictions, but all proved to be useless. Then, he remembered the WCIs which he had collected since coming to this world. He listed them in his mind and came up with an elaborate plan that was certain to succeed.

He pulled out {Ouroboros} and {Five Elements Overcoming}, it was stupid to waste two of the twenty on such a selfish cause, and it hurt his collector ego as well, however there was no other way, he couldn't allow himself to die, not before he made sure that the name of Ainz Ooal Gown is forever engraved in history.

Tremor shook the continent, no-one knew what was happening, however all saw a great pillar of condensed darkness rising high into the heavens. Several shock waves originated from that pillar, all passing through the continent. The ones closest to the event were the most unfortunate, as it destroyed even sturdy castle walls in a 10 kilometers vicinity. Even in a 100 kilometers circle, houses fell apart.

Ainz stood in the middle of the converging energies of the world, as he made his wishes. However, even after he did so the swirling mass of darkness did not disappear. It remained, and only grew in intensity by the second.

Prior to the events of today, Ainz had made some modifications to his rings. He fed his bottomless Mp pool to his second most cherished ring.

Ainz's crimson orbs abruptly flared alive as he cast {Wish upon a star}, he wished for an army unseen in history, an army so fierce, so great that the Elder Gods would run with their tail in between their legs.

Ainz felt fatigued as he felt an ocean of Mp drained from his body. Several charges were also depleted from the ring as thousands upon thousands of mid-level summons populated the area. Some of the closer ones were torn to shreds by the swirling energies encompassing Ainz.

Ainz willed his eyes to close, and the crimson light blinked out of existence. A second passed before it burst alive resolved to face the gamble of his life. This should work. – No, it must work!

He held out both of his hands and inside his mind an endless wave of spells was being continuously cast. {Ninefold Maximize Boosted Magic: Energy Drain} {Ninefold Maximize Boosted Magic: Energy Drain} {Ninefold Maximize Boosted Magic: Energy Drain} {Ninefold Maximize Boosted Magic: Energy Drain} {Ninefold Maximize Boosted Magic: Energy Drain} …

His Hp no longer decreased, at first sight, however that was not the case. The truth of the matter was that his Hp kept falling, however the amount which he stole thus expanding his maximum Health pool was able to compensate for it. The question was, how long could he keep this up? Thankfully, it was a good idea to remove his limiter with the use of the twenty.

Previously, when he used the spell {Energy Drain} on the greed kings, it didn't allow him to steal job classes, as he already had reached the limit of 100 total levels. He also couldn't boost any of his stats which reached 100. However, this was no longer the case and he could stack up exp, classes and status points without any limits, without any drawbacks.

He had massacred, reduced to a husk of their former selves' tens of thousands of mid-level demons and undead. For now, he had managed to avoid death, but how long would his new Hp last? It appears, the curse had some impact on his ability to gain life in this way as well, because even though the great sacrifice it only won him an hour or so.

The dark aura surrounding him, along with the pillar of darkness fell into his being, after he willed a new suppressor mechanism into existence – the eclipse had reached its end.

He tore through his inventory a couple of more times, all the while collecting any items which had summoning property. He also sent out a command through his mental link to his minions to gather here. He would not allow himself to die, just because he was hesitant to consume them all.

No, matter the price. Ainz Ooal Gown must endure. He eyed the ring {Wish upon a star}, he couldn't wait for tomorrow so he could wish 3 times again. This time he would call for stronger summons.

Elven royal capital

Earlier a gate opened, and a group of children entered the city accompanied by the servants of Ainz Ooal Gown. They had no reception as it was an abrupt arrival, however the Queen had welcomed them all the same. She led them to the palace and showed them a couple of empty chambers they could use as lodging.

There was chaos all around the city as they saw the pillar of true darkness rising on the east, signaling the end of the world as they know it. Only their ruler had such might, such sheer power.

They saw flashing of lights in the night sky yesterday, they knew that it couldn't be anyone else but their ruler, Ainz Ooal Gown. They thought that he would end it in a few blows, however the light show continued until daybreak came. The children had also confirmed their assumptions.

They were relieved that it had ended, surely their absolute ruler was victorious. If there was anyone who could defeat him, then this world would have ended long ago. The people had returned to their daily chores after the short ceremony that was kept in glory of the supreme one's victory.

However, not long after a pillar of absolute darkness ascended high into the sky, promising nothing good. Chaos erupted after the first shock waves reached the city, though they were far enough that it didn't destroy houses, it still had a frightening amount of power behind it, enough to make an adult man fall over.

As time passed the waves became more and more intense and come in shorter intervals. The people had all gathered inside the palace and the garden. It was protected by a barrier set up by the supreme one himself.

It deflected the waves, however after the 10th such wave cracks started to appear on its surface. Then and there it became clear to the citizens of the Dryadalum kingdom. It was no other, than their ruler who made those waves, they couldn't believe it any other way. Who else could possibly damage a barrier set up by such a powerful mage?

Ellee had a troubled expression, while she tried to calm the masses. She was worried for her people, but she deeply cared about Ainz as well. "Husband, I hope you will be alright. But if you don't finish whatever you are doing, I am afraid there will be nothing left of our nation." She said, though no-one heard her due to the confusion. Her eyes took in the full view of the collapsing royal capital. The buildings fell over like a row of dominoes, one after another. Total devastation.

Somewhere in the Void

The denizens of the tomb had experienced the strangest things, like they didn't grow any older, which wouldn't be a problem, however for Aura and her clash with Shalltear it was a deal breaker.

The guardians were impatiently waiting for the supreme one's return ever since it came to light that he was still alive and kicking. In the past centuries they worked to better themselves, as they believed with all their being that the supreme ones seeing their diligence would return.

Many denizens worked themselves to the bones, however since they possessed healing magic like no other, it didn't prove to be a problem. The most intelligent denizens had come up with countless ideas as to how, why, when and with what purpose will the absolute ruler of the tomb return, as well as if he brings along the other supreme beings.

Wild fantasies were born about his adventure, as well as his reason for leaving the great underground tomb of Nazarick. Yet, without his consent none of those stories could be proven right or wrong. They would await his return, as they did – for they were certain that one day, that one day HE would return. That one day, he would give commands yet again.

They would discard their bodies, their life, their soul if it were necessary to carry out HIS will.

Always and forever.

Dragon hideout periphery continent

The Dragon Emperor was gathering his forces, soon he would have enough slave to overwhelm that cursed undead. He saw the dark pillar the other day, so he was sure that the skeleton was weakened, it was their chance, HIS chance to revenge the humiliation he had to suffer because of an inferior life form.
