《When Death walked the world》Chapter 10

The six were staring up at the Great Old one from quite a distance, a few kilometers at least. The singular thought that passed through each of their mind was. "How are we supposed to stall THAT?!"
Not only was the creature gigantic, it had its minions with it. In fact there were thousands of it moving close to her. Then they heard something. Something was coming…
The ground shook as the sound of steps found their way into their ears. Hundreds upon hundreds of thousands, no millions of undead were marching in unison against the enemy. It was such an impossible sight that they had almost wrote it down as a dream.
Surshana felt a tug on his cape, when he looked down he could see the praying eyes of the water Goddess.
"Surs-Surshana, could you do the same? The same as this… Ainz fellow?"
Surshana's answer was instantaneous.
"No, not in a thousand years."
"S-so much undead! I am glad they are with us though! Come on, cheer up guys we've got this!" Exclaimed Scarlet, as she tried to breath soul into them before the great battle that was soon to commence.
"Ye-Yeah! We can do this!" Said the one in blue cloth. Though, the fake enthusiasm was unmistakable in her voice.
"Pfft, piece of cake if you ask me." Said Ventus, as she conjured up a little breeze, to make her look cool as her hair, and cloth floated gently in the breeze.
"I am in." Said Terra.
"Well leader, seems like we are ready to go." Said Alaf as he patted Surshana's shoulder.
"Hmm, I can see that…" He turned his back towards them, as he surveyed the battlefield. "Still I can't help but to be worried."
…
"Scarlet watch out!" Shouted Terra, as he hastily cast the spell {Earth wall} to protect her from the incoming projectiles. These horrid creatures spit acid, and shot projectiles from the end of their tentacles.
Even Surshana was injured by them. If he, the strongest of the group could be damaged, then it was a grave danger indeed.
"Thanks." She said, before she cast yet another {Napalm}, to try and burn away the Hp of these wicked beings.
The fight had first began an hour ago, when the legions of undead began their assault. They had joined them as ordained by Ainz Ooal Gown, and provided support from the side lines, taking care not to get caught up in the middle of the battle. However, the battle was fierce and they were soon swept up in the excitement, as they were gradually overwhelming the octopus like creatures.
At least, that is how it seemed up until now. A minute or so earlier, the enemies began their advance, and the undead legions were failing, and they were failing fast. Now, the 6 Great Gods had regrouped and joined their forces, in hopes of stalling the enemy a little more.
However, when their powers were compared with hundreds of Death Emperors employed under the command of Lord Ainz, they seemed so inconsequential, so unremarkable, that their pride made them want to prove their worth. And so they fought to the best of their abilities, that was when that happened… The ruler of these strange horrid creatures who had been standing idle next to the bloody battlefield had made a move.
A gigantic tentacle smashed into the battlefield, then another and another. After 30 seconds or so repeatedly hitting the undead, and sometimes octopus like creatures alike the motion stopped.
The eyes of the 6 almost popped out as they witnesses the once mighty forces of undead decimated. Out of the millions of millions, there were only a few thousand who remained standing.

The weaker undead had all but perished, as well as many of the strong ones. Even those of the Death Emperor caliber were not spared. Those which stood in the way of the Great Old One has all been mercilessly destroyed.
They gulped audibly as they imagined their fate should they have been in the wrong place.
The only thing which came to each of their minds was. "Where are you Ainz? Where the hell are you?!"
…
The remaining undead were overwhelmed and slain in a short span of time. The bodies of the 6 were shivering, most of them because of sheer horror and a few due to their mana depletion reaching a critical point.
"We cannot stay anymore. We have to leave." Surshana thought.
"Quickly, use your teleportation scrolls!" He commanded as he took out his own, and disappeared. The others soon followed and they traveled to the peak of a mountain in a considerable distance away, they were still in vision range, so they could spectate how the battle would unfold. And spectate they did…
Ainz moved gracefully towards the battlefield, taking each step with great care. He revised his plans once more, while he neared the area where the previous battle took place. "Huh, I finished my preparations just in time. I just hope I can solve this without resorting to a death battle. I really did hope for a moment that my armies would be victorious, but it was no more than a naïve guess." He cast {fly} to approach the enemies. "No matter, I will be victorious. Let the performance begin."
The six watched as the skeletal Overlord garbed in a black gown floated leisurely towards the creatures, and the abnormality that Cthulhu was. They could swear that they saw a smirk on the face of the skeleton as he opened up his arms and called out to the creature. His voice boomed in the open field, carrying a feeling of oppression which only the truly powerful possessed. The six could also feel the dread radiating from his being, as dark fog seeped out of his bones.
"Hear me Cthulhu, I am Ainz Ooal Gown. The Absolute Master of the 41 Supreme beings, Keeper of the Realms and Supreme Overlord over all of creation!
Deafening silence descended upon the battlefield, satisfied with his ability to command respect he continued.
"I am a merciful master, thus I am willing to forgive this transgression of yours. But only this ONCE!" Ainz so declared in his majestic voice, radiating full confidence in his superiority.
A bone chilling laughter echoed in the area, as the mass of feelers moved to reveal a mouth adorned with countless sharp teeth.
"AHH-ahah-ah-HAHAh. In all my existence I have never encountered such an arrogant ant such as yourself. Little mortal, I can't sense any divine power from you. In fact I don't feel any power from you, and yet you would dare to act superior in front of the Grand Priest of the Great Old Ones?! Blasphemy!"
Cthulhu moved her body, so that the skeleton would be in range for her feelers to attack.
"I will show you despair and then I will destroy you, I will rip you apart and grind your bones into dust!" She screeched, as her eyes glowed with fury.
Ainz had gone silent. He pulled back his open arms and let them slide down to rest alongside his body. Then he lifted his left hand to support his forehead.
"So despair had overtook you after you've realized that your act cannot foul me? HA-ha-ha. Marvelous. Do not fear, for I will take over your mind soon enough, you will be an excellent Apostol. Yes, such a good punishment. A few thousand years as a slave should teach you to act humble before your better. When you had realized your mistake, I will kill you ever so slowly... What do you think?"

"ahahahahh-hAHHAHAHA-H-AHGHAHGAHAHAHAH!" He laughed, Ainz laughed. As he continued to do so his laughter rose in volume and turned more and more sinister.
Cthulhu watched intrigued, wondering if the little man had lost it and already gone mad from his failure or for staring up at her for too long. Though, normally it would take a couple of days for the madness to take effect, but this being felt like an anomaly itself, it felt unique. Though, maybe he had a weak psyche? She wondered as the laughter eventually died down. The skeleton had disappeared for a moment, then he reappeared a few meters above her.
"What is the meaning of this?" She asked, while she moved her line of vision to see the skeleton grinning while floating slightly above her head.
The skeleton gazed deep into her yellow eyes. She met the burning gaze of the overlord, as he looked down on her. Then the undead spoke.
"Simple, I do not like when others look down on me. Do not worry, I won't make a move until you do. It is pointless… The difference in our power is absolute..."
"Ha-aha-hh-a Indeed so, at least now you admit."
The skeleton looked at her questioningly as if to say, what do you mean?
"No, no you misunderstand. What I mean is… there is absolutely no way that I would lose to you."
She had enough of this insolent little life form. She moved one of her tentacles at great speed intending to crush the skeleton with it. But first she would knock him out of the sky, and to the mud. She would let him squirm in the dirt as the worm he is, before inevitably annihilating him. She used the same amount of force she did with that overgrown lizard, and yet the skeleton remained unmoved.
"Impossible." She thought. "That overgrown lizard had an aura close to divinity, this skeleton has nothing, then how? How could he resist that blow? Arggh, I will just keep hitting him until he is dust!"
…
The six watched as Ainz was continuously hit by tentacles which could pulverize mountains, and yet the Overlord remained unmoved, bored even. He took blow after blow, not even bothering to deflect. He just stood there, like an unmovable object.
"This is not possible, how?!" Surshana screamed internally as he thought hard on the mechanics of the game, and yet he found no explanations as to how you could negate damage as a magic caster from attacks on pair with level 90 or even 100 warriors. There was just no way such a thing existed.
"Wait, what if?" A frightening thought entered his mind. "What if he is just taking the damage, one after another, pretending that it doesn't hurt him, all the while enduring the pain, but why? Why would he do that?!"
…
After a few minutes of resisting the blows of the overgrown octopus Ainz had enough, and so when the next attack was about to collide with him he cast a 10th tier spell {Disintegrate}. This spell as the name suggest destroys pretty much anything in its area of effect. Though in game it would deal a fixed amount of damage, in this new world, if certain conditions were met it could pretty much destroy anything by breaking anything down to its atomic particles. The tentacles dispersed and Ainz called out in his adamant voice.
"I grow weary of this child's play. If that is all, I won't prolong this any longer. I was hoping you could show me something new, something interesting, something… powerful." Ainz taunted. He sounded like he was bored out of his mind.
Cthulhu's eyes dilated as she grew angrier by the minute of the insolence this mortal dared to show her.
"When I am done with you, you will wish that you were dead. Children come."
A sickly violet portal opened up high in the sky, and legions of octopus like monsters poured out. There were over 10 000 new enemies in an instant on the battlefield. Ainz smirked unseen, as he activated the skill {The Goal of All life is Death}. He also cast {Delay magic: Cry of the banshee} and {Time stop} simultaneously.
…
The clock which appeared behind Ainz finally hit zero, and the spells took effect. It was sickly silent as Cthulhu gazed at the casualties. It was not like she cared, but she was surprised how easily her minions were defeated, and in one go no less!
She started to attack Ainz furiously, exerting much more strength than before, but the skeleton remained unmoved. He just floated there, in space taking all the hits with next to no reaction.
She was broken out of her trance, when she heard a deep voice filled with malice.
"ENOUGH!" A dark wave cut off all of her tentacles that were anywhere near the skeleton. Ainz still hovered in the exact position where he had first arrived to the battlefield, not moving an inch thus showing his superiority in every possible way.
"Fuck. I thought she might stop her attacks once she sees that they are ineffective, but she won't stop. At this rate my Hp will reach zero before we get anywhere... Though I wanted to scare her by showing that she cannot hurt be, it looks like this isn't working. Now, {Triple maximize magic: Reality Slash.} and to heal some of my hp {Maximize magic: Greater Lethal}.
"ENOUGH!" He shouted.
She took a step back, wondering on how to approach this situation. The skeleton floated in front of her unharmed, even after the barrage she subjected him. Before she could think of a way, her enemy spoke.
"Admit defeat, there is no way that I would lose to the likes of you. If you continue to be a nuisance I will be forced to act." Ainz threatened, though he knew it is not possible to kill her, at least according to his research, but sure as hell it isn't going to stop him from trying. He already readied his delay magics while he was speaking, he wasn't so naïve to believe in the words of a monster. He would end her one way or another.
Cthulhu did not answer. Blinded by rage she rushed at him, intending to finally crush the skeleton into bone powder.
…
The battle raged on for days. Ainz was starting to run out of mana, but the battle was in his favor. In all the time, he had made sure to keep up the façade. Thanks to his undead nature it was easy enough not to show pain, but he still had to control himself not to have any outburst throughout the battle, which could betray the truth. The reality was that Ainz was running out of tricks, but thankfully it seemed like he would be victorious before that happened.
Cthulhu also had many tricks up her sleeve, but after a grueling battle it finally seemed to be over. The wreck that her body was laid defeated. It was scarred, burned, sliced, crushed. Her various lethal wounds were proof of the brutal battle. Even though her regeneration was close to absolute, Ainz had overwhelmed her with continuous attacks, and spells which dealt damage overtime.
Ainz stood above her victorious. The six were about to go and greet Ainz, when something happened. The stars in the night sky moved as if ordered to, changing their positions in unbelievable speeds. Then, the ground shook. A violet light encompassed the half-dead body of the giant, as Cthulhu slowly gathered herself, before laughing out loud. Her screeching laughter sent chills down the spines of the 6 great gods.
"HAHAH-HA-HA-HA. Your time is up skeleton, now we are going to play MY game!"
A tentacle moved at speeds unseeable, and Ainz was blown away like a rag doll. He crashed into the mountain range of Trist almost collapsing the whole range when his body collided. He slowly got up to his feet, while looking down into his shaking palms. "Impossible. This physical power… is beyond level 100!"
"HA-hahaa. Not such a big show now, are you? What was it? Ainz Al own.. oh whatever, you will be forgotten, like the insignificant pebble you are."
The six watched as the skeleton squeezed the golden shaft, and his eyes flared alive, promising certain suffering.
"You! You VERMIN! How dare you disrespect the name of Ainz Ooal Gown?!" He shouted, and then he added in an almost inaudible voice. "Ainz Ooal Gown does not know defeat!"
The realization of the power of Cthulhu caught up to him, and for a moment the possibility of defeat flashed in his mind. "NO! I will not be defeated here!" He screamed inside his mind, while Cthulhu taunted.
"Sorry what? I am afraid that I cannot hear you. Could you repeat it?"
When Ainz's jaw moved to answer, he was flung into another mountain in the distance.
"What? I still can't hear you~"
"Ainz Ooal Gown does not know defeat!"He roared as a tentacle smashed right into his face, yet he remained unmoved. He felt his jaw crack under the force, and spider web cracks formed on various parts of his skull.
"How dare you humiliate me?! I will make you suffer! You will know despair!" Ainz roared, though no sound escaped his mouth. Parts of his cheekbone were separated from his skull as they fell to the ground. His Hp had fallen threateningly low. He raised his staff, ready to blow away the tentacle monster.
"You are barely standing, what can you do to ME?! WHAT CAN YOU DO?!"
Ainz was pummeled into the ground yet again, he felt his bones breaking, shattering under the force of the impact. He blacked out for a moment, while his Hp was close to nonexistent at this point. He was brought back to his senses by yet another hit. He had no other choice now, he had to… he had to turn the tide of the battle somehow, he had to preserve the name of Ainz Ooal Gown.
He slowly gathered himself, raising his chipped bones sluggishly to the air, as he began…
"Hear me All-mother. I Ainz Ooal Gown offer you this tribute."
A great dome of light encompassed him and his surroundings, this dome was covered with countless different spinning runes, the apex of the tier magic.
"What are you doing? Trying to prolong your pathetic existence? HA-ha-h. Fine, I shall humor you, so that your despair is all the sweeter."
"Send forth your children, so that my enemies may perish. {Iä Shub-Niggurath}"
Black fog rapidly extended in all direction from the kneeling Ainz and millions of souls were sucked out of the world. The souls of the undead which had perished, the souls of the octopus like creatures and the souls of the fallen beast-men, demi-humans and humans in the vicinity were all taken away.
Then through a black blob appearing in the sky, they came. Soon over 400 colossal dark goat-like creatures stood unmoving, awaiting their summoner's commands.
"Outrageous! Impossible! She would never help someone so insignificant!" Cthulhu screeched as she flinged herself towards Ainz.
"Now you understand, Ainz Ooal Gown does NOT know defeat… my adorable little goats, ATTACK!" Ainz said before the strength left his body and fell over.
…
Cold sweat broke out all over their bodies as they witnessed the carnage unfolding before them. The summoned monstrosities brought forth by Ainz were hammering down on Cthulhu, as well as the reinforcements she had summoned throughout the battle.
This gruesome battle, if it could be called that, raged on for 3 days. Three days was all the time needed for Cthulhu to defeat each and every last one of the dark young. In the beginning the six had thought that Ainz had Cthulhu by the throat, but as the battle continued it was clear that Cthulhu would not be defeated that easily.
Ainz was yet again up against Cthulhu, out of his trump cards he was, and now he no longer had any minions, nor summons to rely on either. How would he turn the tide of the battle? They could only wish, they could only hope that Ainz managed to beat this monstrosity for after what they had witnessed, they were absolutely positive that they stood no chance in hell defeating it.

8 189The Last Marshal
Weird West Fantasy Noir Once the Republic Marshals brought order to the chaotic lands along the Frontier, facing dangers both human and supernatural with ancient wisdom and a six-gun —but that was a long time ago. Destroyed by conspiracy and betrayal, all that remains of that secretive order is one nameless man on a trek though the West seeking revenge on the woman he blames for the Marshals' fall and his disgrace. When a visitor from our world joins him on his journey, they together must confront the horrors of a strange land, the mysteries of the past and the real meaning of their quest for justice. The world of Tellus is what 19th Century Earth would have looked like if the stories of Poe, Ambrose Bierce, Lovecraft and William Hope Hodgeson were real. History in this world moves slower. The old faiths persist and civilization never conquered the dark corners of the map, at least not without being inextricably changed. Technology and culture takes a little longer to evolve in this land, as people here tend to spend more time pursuing their elaborate revenge plots or trying to avoid being the next sacrifice to the Outer Gods rather than advancing science or statecraft. Imagine Cormac McCarthy by way of Edgar Rice Burroughs, though a little less testosterone-drenched than that description would imply. Three caveats: First, there are deep mysteries here, including how such a world came to be and who controls it. Second, this world is not wholly unconnected from our own. There is a historical point of divergence, but in the distant past. To paraphrase Twain: history in this world is not a repeat of our own, but it does often rhyme. And finally, this is not a setting that lends itself to happy endings.

8 205No Strings Attached [Rewritten]
Warning Just so you know, you better be paying attention to the chapter title or else it's going to be like travelling across multiverses. Explanation Due to a single comment made by a wonderful person, or some douchebag in real life, I have decided to create two seperate stories. A rewritten version, and the original version. The rewritten version will somewhat follow the original storyline of the original version, but will have extra content, extra side stories of course rewritten personalities. The original one will be like a rough draft of where I want the story to go. Like for instance, the original story is like the first Link from 'Legend of Zelda', choppy but fun to read. The rewritten story is the Link from any game during and after Windwaker, smooth and somewhat follows the main premise. Overall both are going to be probably terribly done but hey, I'm creating a furture and past story so what should you expect. - Styx Whatever just put up the revised description. - Ariel Edited Summary Jay W. Blu, a dashing and charming rich boy who's been spoiled his whole life. He is very cocky, has a case of egomania and isn't exactly what you call a 'Relatable Main character', unless you somehow fit one of these descriptions and then relate all you want. He had everything you would probably want if you weren't pessimistic, realistic, or chronically depressed. But as most reincarnation/summoning stories go, he get's himself killed at whatever age he was and is sent to another world. Normally, he would be summoned as something you would call a hero, but since that's to cliche by my standards he is something else. Instead of being the hero of the people that he was told about by a friend, he instead summoned as the anti-hero aka, 'The Hero of Demons'. Now he must traverse the lands slaying opposing heroes as he tries to keep his mind straight, although it's to late. There will be weird people along the journey like a fangirling war general, a hive mind and a manly magical girl? Oh well, Jay is too pure to see love anyways.
