《The Human Soul》Chapter 4: Setbacks

In one small corner of Hell. In an area designated for new entrants. The figure of a clearly over-weight, young black man can be seen leaning against the wall. The man was bleeding out with lasers piercing his body, slowly burning his flesh into nothing but ash.
Thabo: “Fuck…FUCK!! THIS IS SHIT!! Damn I hate this place!”.
All the work I put in is all gone now, and I mean ALL. This shit isn’t even funny; I can’t remember a thing. All those things I learnt are all gone now. I mean I remember learning all that I remember being in the damn lecture listening to everything paying close attention, but I can’t pinpoint anything specific. All the actual knowledge is gone. Plus, as a bonus I’m a fat fuck now.
Everything’s just been reset to the same as before, no actually much worst, I got no suit now. Yeah just picture this fat, black ass bleeding out here ‘Butt ass naked’. Shit even I’m disgusted. Know what that means? That now I’m hungry, constipated, cold, oddly sweaty, exhausted, like shit can I sleep forever now please, but this intense pain is keeping me awake. Yeah I know “continue running” but do you not see that that’s impossible now.
Man I’m sure this was the plan “Congratulations!” my ass this is where the real Hell starts. I’d bet money that they gave me the suit to help speed up my awakening and now they don’t give two shits bout what happens to me. The trials are going horribly. Everything I do feels like an uphill, no, vertical struggle. I’m still not allowed to sleep nor am I given any food, water or toilets and sanitary stuff. Funny how you don’t know what you got till it’s stolen from you huh?

Oh looks like I’m losing consciousness, thank goodness I can sleep now. If it’s going to be like this better to just kill myself quickly to get some sleep. Well, yeah, that’s all folks, thanks for watching but the shows over now, goodnight. *Thabo loses consciousness and eventually dies of blood loss*
Huh what’s this? I’m alive? My body’s healed up, so they saved me again? What the hell do you even want from me!? Oh no, on the wall, there’s a new message. So what is it now.
No peace in death
In the event that you should die or be crippled beyond any possible normal functioning, the auto-revival program will activate and return you to the beginning of your set of trials. However, a time limit has been set for you to break the next human limiter. Time is unknown. If in that time you have not completed the trial, you will be liable for all energy consume during your testing period and expenses for your trials and be demoted to a ‘resource citizen’. Good luck and please try again! Never give up humans!
OK wow that’s petty vicious, even for Hell. Like I can tell they don’t really care about telling me my sins or even looking at me for that matter but that’s just a little too deep for me to process right now. I’m guessing a ‘resource citizen’ is, as the name suggests, someone used as a natural resource in Hell. Like the ‘bottom of the pyramid’ type guys whose souls are used to generate magic energy for the whole of Hell. Wow they didn’t even try and hide it huh? Guess that explains where they’re getting the power to do all of this with no-one in sight.
This is a problem. Clearly they’ve forced some sort of unrealistic spartanian training on me as a type of loan. I’m guessing if I don’t pay up by passing they’ll just happily strap me into some human Power Station for the rest of my ‘who knows how long’ life. At this point I can be pretty sure that they’re serious. So no doubt it’s only a matter of time till I don’t even have the freedom to do what I want with my own soul, WOW who would’ve thought I’ve been enjoying Hell’s honeymoon period, like aint this supposed to be the best time of my new life down here? Like I thought this is still too deep.

I have only one thing going for me right now, understanding. Doesn’t sound like much but the fact that they would invest all this power to trap me must mean magic is a huge thing, and that there are still some sort of rules even here (twisted as they may be). So fuck taking all these tests the normal way. I know what’s important now and that’s magic. That’s all I’m going to be focused on for now.

Re: (Union//Incarnation)
Two years ago, a meteor fell and decimated the southeastern lands of Gaia, turning them into wastelands constantly shrouded in white fog. None of those who saw the blazing calamity with their own eyes lived to tell the tale, and those who attempted to venture in never came back. Since then, towers, caverns, and ruins have appeared and disappeared without a pattern. Those who were brave enough to venture in were rewarded with a partner capable of defying the natural laws as humanity knows it. People started to call them ‘Incarnation’, and before long, more and more Incarnation were gathered and sold as commodity, especially after a billionaire has sponsored a fighting tournament offering cash prizes to those possessing the strongest Incarnation, spurring the greedy and desperate to hunt for the fabled creatures at the cost of their lives. Claire Saphira wanted none of that. She simply wished for a life where she could live without worry of her own survival. As she ran from the debt collectors for the umpteenth time, she was swallowed by an errant tower, where she saw a frail, pale-skinned girl with ashen hair hung by chains. It was a chance, a chance to participate in the tournament and live without worrying about survival. Yet, something nagged in the back of her mind. Why did she look so familiar? Planned release schedule: One chapter every day for Mon-Fri, and a break on Sat-Sun. The release will slow down at some point, but most likely won't go under 3 chapters a week.
