Jeremy Syrus POV

I stood hesitantly in front of a door labeled subject 00-94, at one point I used to look forward to coming to work and 'making strides for humankind' but now.....this door is nothing more than a constant reminder of my failure, failure caused by my own arrogance. I steeled my nerves and walked into the dimly lit room, many machines could be seen all throughout the large room and apart from a table and a woman hovering over said table nothing else was visible.

The woman had an hourglass figure with a well-shaped butt, her breasts were a little small but her face was gorgeous. Her green eyes flitted from side to side as she read a report in her hands and she chewed her lip in frustration while her brows furrowed

"How is he?"

I asked as I walked up to the table and stared down at the sleeping figure of the young boy, I lovingly caressed his face but quickly removed my hand '' I'm so sorry'' I said to the unconscious body as tears threatened to fall, A sigh interrupted me from my thoughts, looking up I see a sea of melancholic green staring back at me

"You have to stop beating yourself up honey"

She told me as she placed her hand on mine giving it a gentle squeeze

"It's not your fault" she continued "it's not your fault" tears fell down her face as she silently cried, 'but it is' I thought to myself. I don't know how she does it, staying strong for so long, I would have already killed me if I were in her shoes, I wish she would hit me or curse me or...or......something.

After a few moments of us standing in silence I decided to tell her what I came to tell her "I- I might be able to wake him up" I said to the crying woman whose head immediately shot up and fiercely gazed into my eyes, with a strength I never knew she had she placed her hands on my shoulders and brought my face close to hers

"How?" she asked, I could feel her barely suppressed hope, I share her sentiment. Our line of work rarely allows retries and when you fail that means the end

"I have a....interesting subject whose cells even after being separated from the body refuse to die, in fact they multiply, and it’s as if they're trying to create a new body. If I am correct then his blood is the key to saving our son."

She stared at me intensely before giving me a small nod, receiving confirmation I gave her hand a gentle but firm squeeze before separating from her

'I know what I have to do'

Nick's POV

I was interrupted from my game of ' spot the cracks on the roof ' when the door to my very comfortable room slid open. The scientist with the beard walked in the room, what was his name again? Gerald? Geronimo? Ah whatever, unlike his many other visits he did not have the usual self-assured walk he had, he almost seemed.....uncertain.

“What brings you to my neck of the woods doctor?" I asked. I could see sadness in his eyes as his eyes met mine. For a few minutes we silently stood staring at each other, well he was standing I was suspended in the air

"Why so glum, chum?" I asked, a sigh escaped him as he lowered himself to sit on the ground and folded his legs under him "do you have any kids?" he asked me in a tired tone 'well now this is interesting' unsure on how to answer the question I simply stayed silent, apparently I was not supposed to answer the question as he continued as if I did "heh, when you have kids it changes your perspective on the world" he said with a small laugh

Ok this is making me uncomfortable "something bothering you?" I finally decided to ask, if we're going to play this game I want it to be over quickly

"I have a son, quick as a whip that one" he chuckled "just like his block head father his mother always says.....for a while we were fine, no jealous ex-lovers, no petty arguments.....but all good things must come to an end. I was promoted to head of my department and with that came more work, more responsibilities and less time to spend with my family. One day I decided I would take my son to work with me......dumbest decision I ever made in my life" he laughed hollowly, I don't see what's funny though

"Do you believe it!?"

"What exactly hap-"

"I finally had the time to bond with my son and the universe fucks me over"

he once again laughed hollowly "that's why I have to do this" he said suddenly standing up and removing a syringe from his coat pocket before walking towards me, his intentions were as clear as day and I honestly could not fault him for what he was about to do.

As he unceremoniously stuck the needle in and slowly drew my blood I took pity on him, I may not know how it feels to be a parent but I did know and felt the love of a parent

"Though my blood will indeed help your son I still find myself compelled to warn you, not out of the goodness of my heart but because I know the love a parent has for their child. My blood will heal him from whatever ails him but it will also change him, he will lose that which makes him human, though I do not know how it will change him but it WILL change him" I said emphasizing my point

Without hesitation he responded "no matter what my son becomes, I will always love him" He then walked away leaving me staring at his departing back with a small smile on my face.

Jeremy Syrus POV

I hurriedly made my way back to the room which held my son, my heart felt like it was ready to burst as I made my way through the dark room until I once again arrived at the giant metal door. Making my way into the room I saw my wife caressing our son's head, acknowledging my presence she glanced up and gave me a tired smile, I saw the barely contained pain behind her eyes and it made my heart wrench, I felt disgust towards myself but shaking my head to dispel such thoughts I walked towards my son.

Noticing my wife's gaze on the syringe in my hand I answered her unasked question, lifting the syringe to eye level I said "This is the answer to our problem" I said as I looked down at the unconscious body on the table, she looked uneasily at the syringe then back down at our son, I could see the internal struggle she was facing; She did not know what it was, heck, neither did I but I have seen what his blood can do.....I have no choice but to put my faith in this.

Steeling my resolve I slowly brought the needle to my son's arm and inserted it, drawing it back out I took a step back and with baited breath I silently observed for any changes. As the seconds slowly ticked by I finally caught sight of movement coming from my son

'He blinked!!" I thought excitedly to myself as my son began to stir, slowly his eyes opened and a groan escaped his lips. His eyes landed on my figure and a look of confusion appeared on his face as he looked around the room

"When did we get here dad?" He asked turning his head back to me, for the first time in two years I finally allowed myself to cry, tears poured down my cheeks as I embraced my son after so many years. My wife stood off to the side silently crying with her hands to her mouth, finally letting go of my son he looked up at me confused as he wiped a tear from my eye "why are you crying daddy? Does it hurt somewhere?" He asked while searching my body with a concerned look which caused me to chuckle and ruffle his hair.

His mother, finally snapping out of her stupor ran up to him and tightly held him to her bosom. “Mom……I can’t…...breathe” he struggled to say as his mother held his head tightly to her chest….I mean breast *cough* *cough*. She’s giving me the stink eye, turning my attention back to our son struggling to get out of his mother’s grasp I felt a warm feeling spreading through my chest ‘ I finally have my son back’ I smiled while thinking to myself but that moment was short lived when he suddenly started screaming and grasping at his chest.

“Damien! What’s wrong son?!” I watched in horror as my son started convulsing on the table and clawed at his flesh. His veins wriggled over each other beneath his skin like worms under mud on a rainy day, he lifted his head and opened his mouth wide but not a sound came out of his mouth, the only thing audible was the sound of his bones snapping and shifting, his previously light brown hair darkened in color until it was close to black and hair rapidly started sprouting from all over his body. Soon he was covered in dark brown hair which resembled fur, his teeth were elongated, especially his canines, he had a wolf’s head and the body of a man.

He leapt off the table and stood at his full height, tossing back his head he released what can only be described as a howl which caused the entire room to vibrate, my wife and I were on the ground in shock over what had just transpired. For a moment it seemed as if the world was standing still but that moment of stillness was broken by another howl, this one came from somewhere inside the facility and whereas Damien’s howl vibrated the facility this one made it seem like the facility was going to collapse at any moment.

Damien’s head snapped to the door as soon as he heard the howl and before anyone could regain their bearings he barreled through the door completely causing the metal door to cave in on itself before he dashed off through the dark hallway.
