Missing Child

One day a child ran away from home into the woods.

Its parents were worried and looked for it.

“What if my child is eaten by a wolf?”

“What if my child is killed by a mad hound?”

“What if my child is hungry?”

“What if my child is cold?”

But the child returned in three days.

It then said:

“I was cold, but then the forest spirit gave me a bed of wool. Then I was hungry, but the forest spirit gave me berries to eat. A monster then attacked me, but the forest spirit killed it! And when the wolf came after me, then the forest spirit took me to a cave away from him!”

“Where did it came from, this wool?” – Asked the father, surprised.

“From a sheep which the spirit made to drop from a cliff!” – Answered the child.

“And how did you found them, these berries?” – Asked the mother, suspicious.

“Listening to the wind!” – Answered the child.

“And this monster, how did the forest spirit kill it?” – Questioned an elder.

“Smashed on the ground by anger and furry!” – Assured the kid.

“Really? And how did you know where was this cave away from wolves? Did it whisper on your ear?” – Asked the kid’s younger brother.

“Inside my head, it spoke, indeed it did!” – Said the kid.
