《Ode to Freud》Extra Chapter 17: Things of Old

I took the clothes off the chest.

This thing has been here for so many years I don’t even remember most of what we stored here.

There’s some emergency money, a few old things I got from friends in the past and…

Here they are.

I still carry my spear around, since I’m a militia guard.

But these I don’t carry anymore.

The barracks have swords and armor for us, so I won’t be using these.

My old weapons. My old armor.

They aren’t better than the ones in the barracks. They are just regular. Just my spear was of higher grade.

What those weapons carry are my memories.

I took the old sword out.

Ann is going to leave. It’s going to be dangerous. I would give her everything if we needed to, but she doesn’t know how to use a bow properly and she also isn’t proficient with a spear.

It’s best for her to get a rough iron spear than to use mine. If I gave her the steel spear she would lose balance because the tip isn’t heavy enough. That much was clear on our [Joint Training] the other day.

And that is why I’m giving her my old sword.

The handle Is still firm.

The blade is sharp.

There are no signs of rust.

I did a few moves, and it seems as good as ever.

I don’t want for Ann to become an adventurer, but maybe the weight of what I lived can help protect her.

Besides…

I took the sword’s scabbard and touched the small crystal hidden inside.

Even if this is a regular sword, the scabbard is special in the end.

The aura I stored in this [Mana Pebble] is still here.

This is the fruition of my life.

The greatest good I have harvested and which gave me the rank of [Lower Adventurer].

The [core] of a [unformed dungeon].

In truth it was just a pebble and the “dungeon” was only a hole in a cave. I had a bit of a hard time killing the grass treants and dealing with the [Ghoul] that guarded the place, but in the end It was a walk in the park near what a true dungeon is.

With this Ann will have a little more insurance. This little thing can store up to what would be the whole accumulated amount of a common person’s aura.

If it’s me or her we have around four times this much, but, still, this little thing can be the difference between life and death.

And it’s still fully charged.

I sheeted the sword and took it with me to Anton’s and Marie’s house.

I’m sorry I can’t give you more Ann. But this is all the help your father can give.

Please, be safe with only this much.
