It’s my first time doing this.

Working on the fields, that is.

Usually all kids above 10 come here on spring to help with the planting, but I have ditched this work my whole life.

Since I have been using my time to gather aura instead.

It’s a bit.. no, unfair by a lot.

I have been training since I was six.

All for my objective.

All to avoid becoming like mother, who had to listen to what those idiots talked to her all day long on parties and the such.

Even while pregnant they would try and hit on her.

No, maybe because she was pregnant they would do it even more.

“This way there’s no risk, right?”

They would say, meaning father wouldn’t discover because she was pregnant already.

The men on this village are trash.

Only my cute brothers are trustworthy.

So I decided since I was young, that I wouldn’t take the same path mother had taken.

I wouldn’t give up everything to become a housewife. She may have accepted that and even wanted that kind of life. But I don’t.

I would be someone who could defend myself, make my own money, buy my stuff and live without a husband if I wanted to.

There are plenty of woman who do it. Grandmother was one of those. She was a peddler before being attacked and getting to our village.

That’s why I train.

All day, every day.

In summer, under the sun, I train.

In winter, under the snow, I train.

In the spring, when I should be helping in the fields, instead I train.

In autumn, when taking baths in the river mean diving head-on on water so cold your chin will rattle, I still train.

And all this time, grandmother had a better technique.

But I couldn’t be a knight if I used that technique, so it doesn’t matter, even if it’s unfair.

What good is to be strong if that means never getting out of here?

I could try and become and adventurer if I’m strong, but adventurers are scum and woman adventurers have it rough.

If they pass out, people use them. People use the men as well, but the woman can get pregnant. Then they need to kill the baby or become whores to keep living.

So I will be a knight instead.

But now I need to wait until I’m fifteen. Father made me promise.

So I’m working on the fields for the first time.
