《Way of the Anomaly》Life and Death (Lyra's POV)

He came here suddenly, like a spring breeze. His amber eyes as fierce as a tiger's, but deep within lies a childish mind filled with curiosity and excitement. This was the first time I've been able to read someone so well.

When he said his name my eyes almost popped out of their sockets. Like, he's the son of Robertson Hawkins! The one who exterminated an entire army with his sword, all by himself.

When Richard proposed a duel to him I thought he would at least leave with some bruises. However, against my expectations, he fighted beautifully. His sword seemed to have a soul, harmoniously fusing with his preliminary sword intent and footwork.

He probably hasn't even realized he used sword intent in that fight, otherwise with Richard suppressing his Cultivation Realm to the Qi Gathering 4th stage Andrew could have won.

And after we "invited" him to go to the market with us his eyes seemed to glitter, but started burning when we started to make him carry stuff. But he didn't do anything about it, just endured it silently.

When I seduced the vendors the look on his face was amusing, a mix of disbelief and terror. Like he was thinking 'I thought you were a saintess!'. Well, at least that's what I want to think.

But he only became more interesting when he started running all of a sudden. I was pretty pissed at him from dropping the jewelry I earned with my blood, sweat and tears, but was more intrigued by why he run away. 'He couldn't be trying to escape from us right?' was what I thought for a second, just a second.

We started to follow him, everything was going great until he suddenly charged at a wall and disappeared. We stood in front of the wall for a solid three minutes looking at each other's bewildered faces before we walked through.

Our bodies went through easily, but our minds shook a bit. Probably not used to traveling inside walls...

We started searching Andrew on these alleys we hadn't seen before, if they even existed. Finally finding him in the last one possible. He was looking at the ground with an incredulous expression and mumbling about how the door had disappeared or something like that.

Richard started cursing right after seeing him, me and Doug joining in after. The new boy's face shifted between curiosity and bewilderment while we sweared. Like he wasn't even listening, trapped in his own mind.

He only reacted after I talked about the magic wall, to which his expression changed to a even more surprised one. We looked at him like he was an idiot until he started to tell his story about a boy who tugged his pants and an old man who happens to be a formation master.

I looked at Richard and Doug and they appeared to have the same thoughts as me.

The old man was a formation grandmaster. And Andrew passed some kind of test, earning the old man's appreciation towards his talent.

We didn't bother to explain this to him and planned to return to the Academy, but he insisted we had to buy him a gift.

Richard, Doug and I had some savings, so we figured it was alright to give him something worthy of the Heir of Hawkins. The battle armor was a expensive one, but when Andrew saw it his eyes burned like light stones in the dark, we took pity on him and bought it. We even dispensed him from carrying our stuff as we went back to the Academy.

He followed us to our first class in the morning, Introduction to Herbs. Richard and I hate this class, it's just one entire hour of looking at a board with drawings of plants and the teacher saying it's charactheristics although Doug doesn't like it or deslike it.

The three of us fell asleep after the first ten minutes, only waking up when Mr. Thompson hit us with his book with a dissapointed face. However, Andrew seemed to have really enjoyed the class. Strange guy.

We were walking to the dorms, the wind blowing softly by our ears and the sun burning the top of our heads. Andrew was walking absent mindly, I think he didn't even knew we were behind him. The wind didn't stop, it only became stronger with time; forming a vortex around Andrew. I looked at Richard and Doug, the only two people of our age who knew what this phenomenon meant and had experienced it. Until now.

The Heavenly Energy was so concentrated around him I became a little breathless; the concentration was many times higher than when I experienced it. I could see by Richard's and Doug's complexions that it was the same with them.

Even space around him became a little distorted. The trees nearby seemed to bloom into flowers and wither at the same time, like their lives were united to Andrew's breathing; alternating between spring and winter with his every inhale and exhale.

The leaves of the trees fluctuating between red and green, almost like they're dancing. Life and Death are only halves of one; like Yin and Yang. Not opposing each other, but complementing one another; the Wood of Life and Ashes of Death.

I heard the Heavens whispering to me, "Have you made your choice?", to which I softly yet firmly replied, "I don't fear the hardships of Life nor the sorrows of Death; why should I fear the future?"

The Heavens answered me with their blessing...
