《Dragon Arts》Chapter 7 – Second Chance at Life
Advertisement
Hey everyone, Happy Late New Years. I want to thank my friends and family for chipping in some money. I got myself a tablet. I am able to write my story in bed (cozy and warm) and also in school. Though I will be busy with work and school, I will try to write every week or 2.
Currently my friend is behind on editing and I am currently on a search for English Major in my college. I will reedit all my chapters before I release on Amazon as an ebook.
Thanks for reading and supporting me. I am also letting you guys know that in the summer I will be learning Chinese, to join the translation group to translate light novels.(Though I could translate Vietnamese light novels, I get sleepy reading them).
I will reedit all the grammar and spelling by the end of the week. So if you want to wait then feel free if not continue reading.
Enjoy.

Lee is now two years old. Five months have pass, since he had met his Aunt Rei, and since then Lee continue to train harder. Rei had left to go on a journey once more promising to be back when Lee turns six. Mei, of course continues on the daily routine, but now every night when Lee fall asleep, she would pour in tiny bits of her tyrannical dragon qi into Lee. Not too much that can cripple him, but little by little so that his body can adapt to it.
This Dragon Qi, is special, to dragons they gain immense strength, defense, and their energy reserve would expand ten folds. For human, they can obtain it through energy transfer or by drinking dragon’s blood. Though they gain the same effect, it’s only roughly five percent of the dragon total power, assuming they can endure the pain and live through its explosive powers. But even so that five percent is enough to shatter steel if one’s able to utilize that power well enough. Even if they couldn’t use it correctly they are still stronger than a sixth stage Qi Cultivator. (Chapter 2 for those who forgot the Cultivation Path. Each Path has 10 stages)
Every day for the past five months, Lee had recalled some memories, but what he recall were only fifty of the three thousand Tai Qi techniques, he had only fifteen that did not require him to use his leg but only the upper body. The rest was footwork that Lee can only hope to wait till he is able to walk correctly.
[Flow with Water], [Flow with Wind], [Turning the Tide], [Repel the Wind], [Climbing the Heaven], [Way of Life], [Way of Peace], [Disperse of Energy], [Calming the Raging Storm], [Calming the Flow of Energy], [Calming of the Soul], [Reversal Flow], [Balance of Yin and Yang], [Inner Peace], and the last technique that seems easy that anyone can do, was [Breathe of Life]. Lee didn’t understand why he recall this last useless skill that was left by his master. All it did was breath in slowly through the nose, holding it for three seconds and exhaling slowly from the mouth. He must use this technique as long as he is alive. He must incorporate it with his other technique, when he eats, and also when he sleeps.
Though it was useless, Lee couldn’t help but use it anyways. After five month he was unconsciously doing this, as if it was natural. However Lee didn’t only train physically. He knew his knowledge was lacking. Especially this world he is in. He didn’t know whether this was the same world or a different one. Today he enter the library. In here was around three hundred books, neatly organize by genre. Though there was only three hundred each one is very rare, and there is only a single copy of each. Whenever Mei raided, she would search to find any rare books, the rest she would burn it to ashes. It the book was extremely special, she would not hesitate to acquire it, even if it was dangerous. However because of Lee, she reluctantly stop doing such dangerous raid.

Uncle Mu was with Lee, Lee had pulled Mu fur in order to get him wake up and follow him. Lee then pointed on the shelf at a particular book. Though Mu is blind, he can feel the aura in the air, and his ear is very sensitive, he can determine the way the Lee hand distort the air and stop at a particular angle. At that moment Mu leapt to the bookshelf and grab the book Lee wanted. Though Uncle Mu wasn’t why Lee wanted this book, perhaps it was a picture book that Mei had bought, that Lee wanted to see. Mu knows Lee couldn’t read, so he is going to look at the picture. After Mu finish his job, he just sat in the corner and slept.
The book that Lee wanted was regarding the world he is in and the information of it. Opening the book, Lee was surprise. The words were similar to his world, he was able to read it clearly. As he continue he went into a state of shock. He found out that he was reborn many years into the future. The continent they were in was Escilia it was very large, ‘the size of Australia’, home to millions and millions of humans. There was also a small country near the border of Escilia separate by a five meter wide river. This was the Demon Country, though it was small ‘think of Japan’, many demons reside there and continue to expand and grow. However as Lee kept reading, this was only a tenth of the world. Beyond the continent was the ocean, and beyond that legends spread that there were other continent that could possibly have monster or other humans. However no one dared to travel across the ocean. Many who have tried never return.
Lee slowly learn what had happen over 400 years. He knew it wasn’t a dream nor did he escape from it. God may had grant him a second life, but fate still bound him to this world. Knowing that the Demons had gotten stronger, and war might happen anytime. Lee began to buckle down and become more series. He had only few years till the clan meeting and every second is precious. Lee finally close the book and sighed. He crawl to Mu and was about to wake him up, but something caught his eyes. There on the dark bottom corner bookshelf, cover in dust glinting, was a large book. If it hadn’t glinted in Lee’s eyes he would have never seen it. Lee approach it and pulled it. However it was heavy and it seemed like it was stuck to the bookshelf.
Using all of his strength Lee pulled back as hard as he can.
Pop. Thud.
The book suddenly flew out of the shelf. The force that Lee had use to pull back sent his body to the ground. Though it was a soft impact, as a child it hurt quite a bit. Lee cried in pain. Mu who was sleeping soundly woke up from Lee crying. He was sweating he was to supposed to make sure Lee wasn’t doing anything stupid but from the cry Lee had been injure. He rush to over Lee, and began trying to calm down. After couple of minutes Lee stop crying, and the nervous Mu finally stop trembling. He then bite on Lee shirt and began carrying him out of the library. Lee was being transported out but he was able to grasp the book with him before leaving, of course Mu didn’t notice the slight shift in weight since he wanted to get Lee to a safer area, and hope Mei doesn’t find out.

In the bedroom, Lee sat with the dusty heavy book. Uncle Mu of course, was lying in the corner however he was meditating, after learning his lesson he did not sleep as of today. Lee wipe the dust from the book. [Techniques of Acupuncture and the Works of the Human Body]. Lee was curious he never heard the method of Acupuncture in his life and why a person would need to know the human body, it can be determine by their physical appearance and their qi energy.
Without any further delay Lee open the book, to the first chapter of Acupuncture. It gave a short introduction to acupuncture. It was a profound realm beside taking medicine, it can control muscle, flow of energy in the body, help alleviate certain area of pain, cure illness that no medicine can cure, and many more. As Lee read on he found out not many people delve into this technique. Not only was it time consuming but it is also dangerous. If done wrong the person can be under immense pain or die from it. Not only that much one must be familiar with the structure of human body whether they are small or tall, young or old, male or female, and one must know all the location of the pressure point or as the book states the chi points. This chi points is very sensitive it allows the energy to follow through the body faster and easier, if several connecting chi point is block it can lead to internal explosion, since the energy will build up in that single place, or it can stop the person from being able to use their qi.
Lee was mesmerize, he began to reread the Acupuncture two times. He learn the uses of it, but more importantly the only material he would need is a fine thin needle, no longer than three to four inches, and also a person to test it on. Though the needle can be acquired easily the problem Lee face is test subjects. Who would be his guinea pig? Lee look at Uncle Mu. He contemplate on whether if animals have these pressure point as well, how it is different from humans, and how would it affect them.
As of now it was near into evening and Mei was about to come home. Lee close the book and push it under his pillow. Then he climb down from bed and began crawling and walking to the front entrance. He sat down and waited. One hour had pass, Lee believe Mei was late from her work. Two hour pass, Uncle Ro came back from patrol, and saw Lee waiting. Mu was not watching Lee, so Ro went to look for Mu and gave him a good beating. Three hours pass, Lee began to worry, his face gave out a gloomily aura. Four hours pass, Lee breathing began to get more rough, he was about to cry when an elegant figure appear near the door.
Lee got up to his feet and walk fast to Mei, though he fell down a couple of time he would get up again and walk to her. Mei saw Lee walking towards her, she gave a loving smile. Lee had grown so much over one year. She came and pick Lee up. Lee had small tears running down his face but didn’t brawl out of loud. He saw Mei had a small cut on her arm, it was cover by her sleeves, so Lee didn’t know how big it was. But he knew Mei engage in combat and it was the reason why she was late coming home.
“I am sorry Lee. Did you worry about me?” Mei wipe Lee’s tears and cradle him in her arms. “It’s alright, I am here now. I promise I won’t leave you.”
Lee gave a cute smile to Mei. Though he is still worry but he knew Mei was home and safe. As usual, Mei took Lee to the training ground, there she would practice. Lee watch her every day, he too practice with Mei. Though Lee cannot use the energy and qi like Mei. He quickly grasp the method behind it. Lee can slowly feel the energy around him slowly being absorb, and he finally develop the qi energy within his body. Though it was currently small it was growing at an astonishing rate.
Under the peach blossom tree Mei was reading to Lee. This book was a bit different from the picture books Mei been reading to him. This one talks about the epic adventures of a dragon princess. Lee love this story, how this princess wanted to explore the world just like how her father did. She trained very hard in order to go outside of her clan. However she ran away from home, because she had an arrange marriage set up by her elders. Though her twin sister try to convince her to come back home, she was stubborn and ran away. She explore the world. Meeting many friends, enemies, and fell in love with a simple man. However it was during the period of war, and she watch as everyone close to her die. War change everything, she went on an endless rampage on both the humans and demons. Finally massacring, many humans and demon alike, she fled to the mountains and there she reside.
It was a simple story Mei read to Lee, it didn’t explain much. But Lee can’t help but seems that the story was related to Mei in a way. He didn’t know if this was actually her life story or it was exaggerated in a way, to make Lee more excited about the book. Mei grab another book. It was a fantasy book, regarding a child who was giving a second chance at life. The child lost everything and was about to commit suicide, however a stranger stop him. This stranger became his father and teacher. Thought him about beautiful things in life, thought him the world, and show him that dying wasn’t the answer he was looking for. After the day the child became an adult, his master was murdered. The child who was now a man, chase the killer to the ends of the earth. Finally killing the person, but all the hatred and rage gave him nothing. He fell into despair and knew he could no longer continue his life, after the things he had done to get to where he was. On the verge of insanity he recall his life with his master, he got up and walked towards to the sunset.
Though Mei told him no one knew what he did, but rumor said that he became like his master, he would lead those who were on the verge of not wanting to live anymore to the path of life.
Lee was mesmerize about this. Though he could relate a bit in some way to himself. He felt that after Mei read him this story, he understand that revenge will not bring back what he lost. What Lee needed to do was look towards the future and bring hope to those who had lost hope.
Lee felled asleep, Mei slowly got up and carry Lee to his bed. Then she went to another cave. In this cave was a hot spring. Mei walked towards the large mirror that was place on the wall three meters from the hot spring. She stood in front, and let her elegant dress fall to her ankles. Her body was milky white, clear, and smooth like a jade. Whether if the person is a male or female they would be attracted to Mei, as no beauty would be able to contend against her.
Mei looked at the mirrors, her hands drew across her body, and on her body were few scars. Though it wasn’t deep, it would leave a permanent mark on her body. Today, was one of the dangerous day she had encounter when she raided a mercenary supply group. They were only a few dozen men, however it was unexpected that the empire army would patrol along those route, and had come to help the supply team. No more than two thousand men surrounded her, few were top elites. Though she manage to kill majority of them, she was careless and got injured by those elites.
The raid ended in failure and she manage to escape with few things. Although dragons were strong and have a high defense, Mei was yet to become a mature dragon. She was still growing and developing. She needed at least couple of hundreds of years before she can finally reach the end of her growth stage and she wouldn’t have to fear anyone below stage six of Divine Cultivation Realm.
Mei stopped looking at her body, slowly walked over to the hot spring and dip herself in the water. The water was warm, it slowly recovers Mei qi force and heal the wounds. However the scar was still present, Mei could easily removes these scar, but she left it as a reminder that if it were to happen again. Lee will be without a mother.
She gaze at the ceiling and wonder, how she was going to train Lee. Though he is only two, he must start early. She closed her eyes, and meditate knowing that worrying will only bring her stress.
Silence.
“Lee get up. Today is a big day.” Mei walked into Lee’s room.
“Lee, where are you?” She curiously look for Lee, not a single presence was detected.
Where was Lee?

At The Precipice
Defenseless. Scared. Alone. That describes the life of Brock Carter as of late. Following his ‘death’ at the hands of a vicious magpie, Brock is rescued by the machinations of the newly instated, all-powerful System and thrust knee-deep into a brutal world catered only to the strong. Fluctuating between two states of being and trapped within a city ravaged by time, he is told to either seek out the mysterious ‘Source’, or die trying. He just hopes he can do it without scuffing his expensive suit in the process. ***** Honestly, I've just always wanted to write a story. I had a crack at it a few years back, but the entire thing fell apart before it even began. At The Precipice was originally written as a way for me to destress and play with System elements and characters, but eventually I decided that if I was gonna write, why not post it too? Writing's just a hobby of mine, so don't expect this to be at published novel level, I guess, or even anything of relative polish. Updates every Mon-Tues-Wed-Thurs-Fri Average chapter length is 2000 - 3000 words ***** What to expect: - A semi-comedic/light tone, mixed in with a gritty world and brutal survival (not ever grimdark though) - An MC that thinks about what he's going to do and why he'll do it, even if his internal logic is lacking. Is a rather rational person, not often influenced by his emotions, but can be in extreme situations. - A plot heavily focused upon the MC, but one that will branch off to envelope the other characters in the world at times. Often, it's just other people's perspectives of him. - A story of power growth. While the MC is certainly going to be powerful, even over 100 chapters in from what I've written, he still isn't the strongest being on Earth, let alone the entire Multiverse. - Lots of gore, vivid fight descriptions, and often times deaths of people, some even somewhat important to the story ***** Things this story will never have: - Harems - An edgy, villainous MC - An MC that does jackshit about things for 'plot reasons'

Tales From the Terran Republic
We tried, you know… We really did. We tried so hard to be… better… We actually were better once. No, seriously. We were enlightened, generous, peaceful… Stop laughing! We were! We were peaceful, dammit! No, I’m not “tugging your winglets.” It’s true! Look, if you’re going to be like that, I’ll just push the launch button right now. See ya, don’t wanna be… Oh, you ARE interested after all? Ok. Hey, I just got word that your captain will be ok. We were able to get him into a med pod quick enough… Of course, we tried to save him. Just what sort of people do you think we are?... Now that was harsh… completely accurate, mind you… but harsh. Anyway, like I was saying, we were a prosperous, peaceful people, and war had been nothing but a distant memory for over five hundred years before it happened... Before Yellowstone happened! You don’t mean to tell me that you didn’t know about that… massive supervolcano? Blew the Hell out of our planet? Two years where nothing grew?… Anyway, that’s what started it, the Sol Wars… Oh, you have heard about those, huh? Well, needless to say, all that enlightened, generous, and peaceful didn’t exactly make it through the two years of complete famine and the wars that followed… Maybe it’s more accurate to say the enlightened, generous, and peaceful among us didn’t survive… (laughs)… You’re right. It does explain a lot, doesn’t it? Probably for the best, though. “Enlightened” and “peaceful” aren’t really all that useful out here in the galaxy at large, are they? That reminds me; thanks for the ship. You guys did a great job with this one. Oh, don’t be like that. At least it was us what got you and not one of the really messed groups like the Harlequin or the Black Angels. We’re just going to take your shit. It could be worse… trust me... Well, anyway, we loaded the life pods down with some good food, and you guys can drink alcohol, right? We put in a couple of fifths in there, too. It’s about forty percent ethanol, so be warned. Most species will want to dilute that. We’ll drop your wounded off somewhere safe once they are stable. Your fleet patrols this area fairly regularly, and we’ll drop the distress beacon right before we jump… Well, It’s been fun and no hard feelings, right?… Oh, you want to know some more? Sure. I got time to kill… Let me tell you about this one pirate and her crew. They’re Terran scum, but they are still… Why do we hate the Terrans? Hoo Boy… How much time you got? *** It’s the thirty-second century, and humanity is now part of a galactic civilization comprised of hundreds of worlds. Humanity has been savaged by natural disaster and war and has been fractured into several separate populations, all of which loathe each other (some things never change). This is a gritty drama-driven rambling tale that swings between action, drama, horror, and plenty of very, very dark comedy. Warning: contains adult situations, absolutely horrible language, bathroom humor, implied ultra-violence, actual ultra-violence, drugs, alcohol, pirates, mercs, xeno prostitutes, moral ambiguity, deranged AI's with identity issues, giant commie space slugs, and a poor little frog girl who just wants to sell coffee. Updates twice weekly on Tuesday and Friday. *** Note: This story can get rough. Those warning tags? They aren't for show. I recently received a review and as a result I want to make one thing clear. Portraying something is NOT endorsing it! Many "heavy" topics are touched upon and just because a character says or does something does not imply that the author feels the same way. I selected the "Anti-Hero Lead" and "Villainous Lead" tags for a reason. Rule number one of this story is "no good guys". A good description of the story is, "bad people doing bad things to worse people". There are a few good characters, here and there, but they are the exception to the rule. If you want a hard-hitting, exciting, gritty sci-fi story that doesn't pull any punches, or shies away from "difficult" concepts, welcome! If you are set on a pure and noble knight that runs around and slays conveniently evil monsters and rescues totally innocent princesses... or your sensibilities are easily offended... You're not going to be happy with this one.

Right as Rage
Only 15 years have passed since the miscreant god, Villi, stole magic from the gods and gave it to mortals. In response the mortals seem to be doing their best to squander this gift. The Kingdom of Abrune regulates it, the church of the Sacred Hierarchies outright condemns it, but one 'wildman' from across the sea begins his journey after being cursed by it. Vakdragnar's curse manifests when he loses his temper. It has driven everyone he’s ever cared about away from him. Out of options and money, he travels to the city of Tirough and quickly finds himself on the wrong side of the law. He is persecuted despite his intentions to do good. How can you stand against evil if everyone you’re trying to protect thinks you’re the villain? And if this curse is truly a part of him now, what if they’re right? **************************************************************************************************** Right as Rage is a story I’ve been excited to write for some time now. I hope everyone is as excited to read it. This story is going to be told over several arcs, with each arc containing 7-12 chapters, and an interlude or two each. I plan on submitting new chapters once a week on Tuesday evenings.
