Chapter 10: Phoenix Rise part 2
Author: Hmm. I wasn't able to do everything I wanted in that one-shot because I didn't want to make it too long. I wanted to put more descriptions in while maintaining a shortness to it. I need more practice in making details. Then I will try again. I will make a Sakura PoV when I think I am ready.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
About 150 ft. after exiting the forest the line led me to a building. The front door upon me walking up to it opened up. Automatic like some of the other doors. The room s whole floor was a tiled floor. The walls looked to be some kind of black glass. As was the ceiling which produced a low light atmosphere. Then I hear the door closing making a PSSHHH kind of sound. Then I heard a Clink Clunk.... I think it locked me in. I turn around to try and open the door. I am not surprised by the fact that I can not open the door.
Then you know that ZZZZIIIINNN sound that light sabers make when they extend. Yeah, that's what sound the lasers that came from the walls sounded like as they extended. The whole room is criss crossing lasers. My first thought is RESIDENT EVIL... luckily though the lasers are not moving around for me.
Then I remember watching a show like this. Having someone move through a laser security system to show their.... what was it called again.... kinetic.... bodily awareness. .... Kinetic Awareness. Yes, that's right... crap guess I have to make my through this without touching any lasers. Good thing I have all the time in the world this time. Since I took out that golem.
Wonder how that would work? Since it locked behind me... would it just let him in to fuck with me? Or does he just wait for me to complete this trial then follow me during the next one... O well, I will find out the next time I go through the obstacle course.
To be honest though ... why exactly should I do what she wants me to do? I'm probably already in trouble. Might as well finish this quickly so I can restart. I start moving my way through the room. The moment I try to pass my foot through the laser. It gets cut off... Shit this is actually a laser. I thought it was just some kind of security measure.
I was starting to fall forward into another laser, but I was able to kick myself back with my other foot. Landing on my butt near the starting door. + - = 0 .... Shit! I cast a healing spell on myself then start again. This time I will do as I was told.
I step over one laser with my body crouched. Ducking in between two other lasers. I have to slightly twist my body to the right. Fsssh! Crap touched my hand to it a bit, but its not to bad. Just a little bit burnt on my middle finger knuckle.
I am in between two lasers at the moment and seemingly the only way I can move is to cartwheel over the laser near my shins. I actually pull this one off without touching anything. Problem is I can't readjust myself to my feet. Good thing I have a semi decent sense of balance on my hands now.
I see where I have to go now. I place my feet over another set of lasers. Doing a very slow back flip maintaining that almost recovered state. I shuffle my feet a little more to get my chest and head under the rest of the laser. Luckily I had room to do this near my feet. Fully recovered now standing in an upright position. I look back to see that I have only traveled about 10 feet and there is about 40 feet or so left.
This time there is no room for me to go over any lasers. I must go underneath the lasers. So I position myself doing an army crawl to get underneath. Its smaller than I thought. I have to shove my face side ways into the ground inching forward with my fingers and toes to get through.
O no, There isn't enough room for me to recover. So now I have to arch my self over the next set of lasers. Forcing myself in an side way 'S' kind of position required to get over the hurdle. I burned a bit of my knees, but this time I kind of knew it would happen.
This next section I have to jump through a 'V' shaped section. The 'V' is about waist height forcing me to jump up twisting my body so my chest and back face each laser respectively. When I tried to do this action it worked, but when completing it I had to come to a complete stop of motion. So I wouldn't hit another one.
Unfortunately that was a bit to difficult for me. So when I was falling a bit more forward my right hand had gotten cut off by said laser. I grimace from the pain holding it in. I can't waste any movements to react. Nor, can I heal myself just yet.
Luckily limbs cut by the laser cauterize themselves so no loss of blood. That helps me keep a clear mind. It would suck to get woozy right here. So I continued to persevere. I did a quick hope over the laser that I almost fell into. Doing a quick check to see I am about 10 feet from the door now.
I am more excited now that I am almost out. Two options appear in my mind. I can throw myself through that opening to the right side and make it. I would suffer 1 arm and both my legs and maybe a part of my stomach to make it.
The other option is to suffer through a tedious expedition to get those last 10 feet with injuries more than likely to occur. The movie star wa*s pops in my head. Nope, so much nope. I decide not to go reckless abandon like a certain someone did. Instead I took the tedious route.
I had to once again drop to the ground to crawl under a set of 2 lasers. Gaining 3 feet. Then the option was to climb over another one to reach the left wall. There was an opening for me to hug the wall and slide on through. Another 3 ft. was gained. Phew only 4 feet left with the lasers looking like # I decide to dive through the middle. Skimming only my feet burning only the tips of my shoes.
Finally I reach the door and it opens on its own. Another obstacle completed. Looking out the door I quickly healed all of my injuries.
***
Author: Had to combine two obstacles because of lack of words to use. Pretty basic I went through a laser room. I didn't have the experience necessary to add excitement to it. Ahem any who .
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I ran about 200 ft. to the next obstacle which is a rope dangling in front of a cliff. Upon looking at the top of the rope is a platform beam. Which leads on to the cliff. The height of the cliff is only about 500 ft. up. Also I think I see a golem at the top of the cliff.
I start climbing up the rope when all of a sudden I hear a BAM! I see a boulder embed itself into the ground just a little bit away from me. Shit! That golem is being a damn Donk*y K*ng! I start swinging the rope as I am climbing to dodge the incoming boulders.
I also increase the pace as fast as inhumanly possible. I dodge quite a few of the boulders and when I finally made it to the top. Only one managed to clip my arm a bit. It was not as bad as it could have been if it had been a direct hit.
Once I climbed up to the platform I noticed it was one of the indestructible models of golems. That have there feet melded to the ground. Guess that prevents me from pushing them off as well. I cross the beam dodging just one final boulder that the thing just spawned in its hands.
When I finally came next to the golem it ceased to function melting into the ground. Only to reappear on the other side of the cliff about 50 ft. away. Just sitting there waiting. Following the course line I guess I have to climb down. Hopefully there is a rope for a quick get away.
On the other side of the cliff looking down nope, no rope. Continuing to follow the line with my eyes. There is another cliff just on the opposite side about another 300 ft. away. With no rope leading up. So I guess I have to rock climb down this cliff then do the same up that one.
I quickly hope off the cliff and after dropping a sheer 50 feet. I stuck my hands out to grab the wall. Good that should give me some leeway from the boulders. Looking up yup here comes one. I shimmy over to the right real quick and continue down a bit then looking up and dodging. This was harder to multitask watching the boulders and climbing down at the same time.
The fact is though it must've been harder to hit me with a sheer cliff because a couple times I messed up on the timing, but I just hugged the wall and was fine. The boulder passed harmlessly over me. Still though I don't trust the golem enough to miss every time so I dodge as much as possible.
After finishing climbing down this cliff the golem disappears and then reappears on the other side. Rinse and repeat I guess. I jumped up about 70 or so then started climbing from there dodging the on coming boulders. Which was increasingly getting easier.
I made my way to the top of the cliff and once again the golem disappeared. On the other side of the cliff was a beam with a rope dangling from it. Hey! It gets even easier! I climb on the rope just in time to see 5 golems appear. O shit, quickly I try sliding down the rope. Only to get skimmed by two falling boulders. I half loose my grip sliding even faster down the rope. OOO the rope burns when I try to halt my fall. Finding that it is only a 100 feet drop to the bottom I take a gamble to try something movie like.
The next boulder thrown at me I try and jump on top of after dodging. I jumped down and there was nothing there. Sadly it fell to fast so I now fell hard on top of the boulder that is now embedded in the ground. I land awkwardly and ended up twisting my ankle a bit.
Luckily for me the next obstacle is near by and I feel I can possible relax a bit more with it.

Fallout: Vault X
An original novel set in the Fallout universe, written to be accessible to all, featuring unique people and places. Vol.II. out now Fallout: Vault X tells the story of John. A vault dweller, who spent every day of his twenty five years underground. Like his father, and his father before him. Proud to live in the last remaining bastion of humanity, all that survived The Great War of the atomic age. Hidden deep below the surface of the earth, toiling under brutal conditions. Year after year, decade upon decade. All to expand into the natural cave system the Vault occupied, building for the future. However, John knew what his forefathers did not, that everything he’d been taught was a lie. After finishing school at the age of ten, John received his standard issue pipboy. An arm mounted personal computer, worn by everyone in the Vault. Used to coordinate the relentless pace of expansion, needed to work as an apprentice. To learn the craft that would be his life’s work. A noble calling to ensure a future for all that remained of the human race. A quirk of fate saw John equipped not with the crude, clunky, pipboy model his father wore. That almost everyone around him wore. His looked smaller, sleeker, finished in a jet black sheen. And capable of doing far more than its drab counterparts. The world above had been ravaged by atomic flames, yet life clung to its bones. The Red Valley fared better than most in the century since the bombs fell. The clean water and rich soil protected by rolling hills. All spared from direct strikes, for the most part. Life survived here. Trees spawned from charred ground, misshapen, green leaves turned red. Along with simple crops, grown wild at first, then cultivated by the survivors. The scavengers of the old world were inventive, hardy people. All determined to rebuild in the ruins of a world they never knew. In the decades that passed settlements emerged. They grew, spreading along the valley floor. Reclaiming the pre-war remnants of the once industrialised heartland. Salvaging the robotic wonders of a bygone age to build their walls and work their fields. To protect them in the dark of the wasteland. But such things are uncommon in this world, and the rarer something is, the greater its value. And the worth of pre-war technology had not gone unnoticed. The last, real, power in this world rested in the mechanised hands of The Brotherhood of Steel. Forged from the mortally wounded old world military. The Brotherhood used its access to the weapons made for a conflict no one won to strike out into the wastes. Men and women were equipped with advanced armour, aerial transportation, high grade weaponry. Accompanied by the training, strength, and will, to put them to use. They established chapters and set up outputs far and wide. All dedicated to a single purpose. To ensure the technology left abandoned by its long dead creators didn’t fall into the wrong hands. Namely, any hands that were not their own. This is the world John escaped into. A place of horrors brought forth from atomic fire. A place where survival meant battling against the darkness. Fighting a war each day to get to the next. And war...war never changes

The Fall
Perhaps the most well known of all devils, demons, or fallen angels is the one known as Lucifer, Satan, the Father of Lies. The cultural influence of this figure throughout history is by no means small. Despite that, it wasn’t until the time of Milton’s classic – Paradise Lost – that we saw an attempt to portray a dramatized version of the events leading to this figure’s fall from grace and power. And while this is the case, Paradise Lost is not about Lucifer – though it goes into great detail about his potential musings. No, Paradise Lost was, and still is, about the fall of mankind. So, in light of this, and the feeling that the classical story deserved another telling, I present to you all The Fall – a story focused particularly on Lucifer’s fall from grace and his musings both before and after.
